Written notification about debt

Debt collection: Medical debt

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: I received a call from a local number : ( XXXX ) XXXX. They identified themselves as a debt collector called " hrrgcollection.com '' and asked if I was XXXX XXXX. I said yes I was. They then asked for me to verify my date of birth. I asked what this was about and the caller stated before proceeding they must verify my date of birth. I told the caller I could not provide PII as I had no way of verifying if the call was legitimate. Furthermore I had just checked my credit report the week before and had nothing in my report about any outstanding bill, nor was I aware of anything that may be outstanding as I keep track of all my bills that I receive. At that point the caller said he would record that I " refused to identify myself '' and hung up. However this is incorrect. I had identified myself as XXXX XXXX. When I called back to see if this was a scam or legit. I spoke to another representative and explained to them that I was very dissatisfied with how this first call was handled and that I can't just give out my DOB unless I know who is on the other end of the call and have high confidence that they are legit. She was willing to take my verification of my home address instead of my DOB. And I was OK with giving her that information since my name and address is a public record. I did express to the second representative how unhappy I was with how the initial call was handled. However she did not offer an apology. When I spoke to her supervisor to complain he argued with me for several minutes and I asked him why it was that they handled the initial call in the way they did. I asked why they didn't apologize for that. He offered the apology ( after I asked for one ) and when I said it really isn't right that I have to ask for it, he said " well we're a collection agency ''. I did tell him that I need to first verify with my insurance company before I can give out any financial information to settle the account he was referring to as I had already paid the balance of my hospital visit in full and was not informed that there was still a {$36.00} balance remaining. And second that this was a legit collection. My complain is two-fold : first it was inappropriate for the first caller to say that I " refused to identify myself '' as I did do so. Second it was inappropriate to not offer the second verification question as an option, my home address, which the second representative did do when I called back. Third it is this attitude that this collection agency and they can simply treat whomever they call any way they wish. We do not have any obligation to provide them with PII upon request without knowing who they are or if they are legit. Anyone can call me and say they are collecting a bill.

Improper use of your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Other personal consumer report

Reporting company used your report improperly
Complaint: I have made disputes to XXXX to delete medical collection accounts that are displaying medical information in the original creditor name on the credit reports where the data furnishers refused to protect my private medical information. My private medical information has been compromised. The law under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, specifically the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act Section 412 ( amendment to FCRA ) indicates that this information should be protected. Before all the disputes I had a 3rd party access my credit report and they started reading me medical collections and I was hurt by this and asked them to stop as it reminded me of the bad medical situations. Additionally, I felt hurt that 3rd parties could see this. This brought me to research why it's legal for this to be on the report in this way. Turns out that it isn't legal per the above mentioned laws. I have had no cooperation from the collection agencies and made multiple disputes with XXXX, including an XX/XX/XXXX dispute through the CFPB about XXXX not exercising oversight over the collection agencies regarding protecting medical information. The data furnishers ( collection agencies ) have refused to protect my private medical information and have compromised my medical information. The medial collection accounts are currently as of the day of this report, displaying what should be protected medical information, therefore are continuing to compromise my medical information per the above mentioned laws and refuse after repeated disputes to correct this alleged illegality. Previously a dispute was made through the CFPB on XX/XX/XXXX. These collection agencies ( data furnishers ) received a copy of that CFPB report via the XXXX XX/XX/XXXX dispute investigation. XXXX confirmed to me that the CFPB report was attached to the dispute that sent to each data furnisher. Sadly, they responded to XXXX by only verifying the status and balance and did not respond at all to the issue of medical privacy that was very detailed in my CFPB report. I have spoken to collection agencies on the phone and was disrespected and was given the impression that all that mattered was what they say I owe and otherwise they seem to have indicated that nothing else matters, including the privacy of my medical information.

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: I do not know

Debt is not yours
Complaint: I checked my most recent credit report on XX/XX/19. I noticed a collection from ARS resolution for XXXX and XXXX $ that does not belong to me. This account is from Ohio i moved from ohio 8 years ago and i have free health insurance from the government i have provided proof below. This company never once sent me a letter letting me know my right under the fair credit reporting act to dispute, that is a violation of the debt collection act. I will not pay this account if i am not provided an original contract bearing my signature not a bill those are easily made. They have been reporting this false information on my credit report. I called the original creditor that is listed on my credit report they dont even have an original contract so how can this company collect on this debt with no contract. They are just trying to get money from me.

Debt collection: Medical debt

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I went to the emergency room of XXXX Hospital in XXXX, Ohio. Soon after that visit, I received an invoice for approximately {$600.00} for the emergency room fee, which was paid immediately. On XX/XX/2019 I received an invoice in the amount of {$240.00} from XXXX XXXX XXXX/XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. ( XXXX ). The invoice had written on it " Final Notice. '' This was the very first invoice I received for this amount and the invoice did not reference what it was for, just said services at The XXXX Hospital. I called that company and asked them why their invoice says Final Notice when I hadn't received a first notice. They offered no explanation and asked if I wanted to pay the bill over the phone. I said " no, I need to investigate this charge. '' I then called XXXX Hospital and found out they use this billing company and the charge was for the doctor 's fee. On XX/XX/XXXX I sent this company {$100.00} toward the {$240.00}, as I wasn't even sure if it had been submitted to my insurance. Then, on XX/XX/19 I receive a call on my cell phone from HRRG ( whom I had never heard of ) and they asked for my date of birth, which I refused to give as I work for a XXXX and am familiar with fraud. After arriving home on XXXX I see a letter from HRRG which indicated they were a debt collector and telling me I needed to pay {$240.00}. I then called HRRG and tried to explain the above events and they refused to acknowledge anything. They had no record of the {$100.00} payment I made, but I then paid the remaining {$140.00}. The person on the phone asked me to give her my address. I told her that the address on the letter they sent was my address and why did she need me to give it to her. The whole thing was a horrible experience and they used scare tactics to get paid.

Took or threatened to take negative or legal action

Debt collection: Medical debt

Threatened or suggested your credit would be damaged
Complaint: Around XX/XX/2019, I went to the hospital. I have, since XX/XX/XXXX ( it is now XX/XX/XXXX ), received two to three calls a day from a debt collection agency, demanding the money for a bill I was never given. When I said that I had not received the bill ( I received a bill from the hospital, but this bill was for the physician - I never received a bill from the physician ), the debt collector on XX/XX/XXXX said, " I can confirm the last four digits of your social security number are xxxx, and this debt will seriously negatively affect your credit if you do not pay us back by XX/XX/XXXX. '' I have felt threatened, harassed, intimidated, judged, and, because of my age and lack of knowledge, discriminated against. I have been bullied, and refused information. I have been told " should haves '' when I ask questions. I " should have '' been given a bill. I " should have '' been informed about the physician policy. I can't afford the should haves, and, most importantly, I can't handle the stress of another phone call with these horrible, disgusting people.

Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Complaint: I started this journey XX/XX/XXXX of this year when I checked my credit and noticed several accounts from Account Resolution Service account numbers XXXX ( {$420.00} ), XXXX ( {$1300.00} ), XXXX ( {$1000.00} ), XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX ), XXXX ( {$1400.00} ), XXXX ( {$1000.00} ). I originally contacted the credit bureaus to dispute the accounts due to the accounts not belonging to me and is not something that I recognize. I also pointed out reporting errors with the listings as it should be reporting 100 % accurately and asked for proof of verification received from Account Resolution Service and did not receive anything but a generic response with no proof. After 2 attempts I contacted Account Resolution directly on XX/XX/XXXX via certified mail USPS # XXXX attempted delivery on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX letter was not delivered due to no access to delivery location. How is it possible for them to provide an address that the postal service can not access? This type of practice does not seem ethical. In the letter I asked for them to verify they are attempting to collect from the correct person. I also requested they send me competent evidence with a full accounting and original contract. These accounts are still reporting on my credit which they shouldn't because no one seems to have the proper documentation and accounting so these should be removed as I am not responsible for these debts. Please provide validation of the accounts especially since I never received any notice/statement from you stating you're trying to collect on an alleged debt.

Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Investigation took more than 30 days
Complaint: ARS ACCOUNT RESOLUTIONS are still reporting information on credit without doing their due diligence. Per the FCRA a debt collector must notify you in writing allowing you the opportunity to dispute or at least investigate prior to placing any items on your credit report. I Was never notified that ARS was attempting to collect on a medical debt from XX/XX/XXXX by a third party. Per statute of limitations in the state of Texas there is a four year time limit with regard to this in the court of law. Recently I checked my consumer reports and disputed this on XX/XX/XXXX and ARS was supposed to investigate this. It has been over 30 days and I never received a response or any documentation regarding my dispute. If this is not removed I am prepared to take legal action against this company.

Communication tactics

Debt collection: Medical debt

Frequent or repeated calls
Complaint: I am complaining about the collection agency, HRRG. Unfortunatley, I did not forsee this problem and don't have a list of dates. However, it started in around XX/XX/2019 with mail correspondence. I called and explained that I had been unemployed and seeking work for some time and could not possibly pay the bill. I could not make payments, I am not shirking my responsibility, but I simply am barely surviving right now. HRRG then proceeded to bombard me with mail. Quickly they moved on to daily collection calls, sometimes twice a day. The calls have been going on since at least XX/XX/XXXX. I don't know what to do. I would love to find a job and pay the thing. Anyone need a bookkeeper?
