Complaint: I have had a loan in forbearance with Great Lakes Higher Education for about a year or more now. I am at a point where I can start making payments as I have recently become steadily employed and want to start paying these loans off. I have reached out to the servicer on multiple occasions to make a payment as I have a high amount of interest that has already accrued on the account I have. They keep asking me for my personal bank account information or telling me to go open a checking account somewhere as they will not accept credit card payments. I have a valid credit card I can pay with and I 'm not comfortable giving anyone direct access to my savings account ( I do n't have a checking account ). I have no other method of paying my student loans other than through a credit card. All I want to do is make a payments until the loan balance is paid off. There seems to be no flexibility at all on this and if I knew there were stipulations to getting my student loan that it can only be paid off with a direct link to some kind of a bank account at this point I would have just foregone my education entirely because now its likely going to ruin my credit and keep piling on interest. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Complaint: I am looking to pay back the original loan amount that I took out to attend XXXX school ( {$170000.00} ). I have paid {$36000.00} over the past 4 years and the loans continue to increase every month. Again I have a lender that is willing to pay the {$170000.00} for me right now but I need help in making this happen. The interest rate they are offering me is extremely low and will help both my family and I. The loan company has made {$36000.00} from me in the interest I have paid them. I am currently on the IBR plan which takes 15 % of my income for my payment. If I were to lose my job they would n't receive any money at all. It just really seems criminal that the government can continue to take money from people and the balance continues to increase!

Complaint: I have been paying on a student loan from Great Lakes Higher Education for 28 years. I have records of all my payments which totals {$57000.00} The original loan was {$17000.00} on XXXX XXXX 1991.
They say that I still owe {$38000.00}.
They are going to take my tax refund and garnish my wages very soon if action is not taken.
I have repeatedly written letters, applied for XXXX Forgiveness with no results.
They have turned the loan over to a collection agency ; XXXX XXXX XXXX which I have also written and received the same reply, that I still owe the money in question.

During my time at college I had to take multiple student loans to pay for my education. The loans included Stafford loans, Perkins loans, and Key Alternative loans. The companies involved are XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX ( education services ), XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ), XXXX XXXX XXXX, and finally XXXX. I feel that I was pressured and talked into multiple consolidations that overall were very detrimental to my loan balance. I pursued a career in XXXX XXXX because I knew that after 10 years of service I would be able to receive loan forgiveness in my federal loans. Since the majority of my loans were federal this in theory would have worked out. I was unaware at the after consolidation to a private company this would not be available anymore. The company such as XXXX XXXX did not adequately relay this information to me and talked me into the consolidation. I have just about all of my loan statements. I consolidated one last time with XXXX just because they offered one of the lowest rates. I feel that the companies first listed defiantly preyed upon me as a college student with little money. XXXX, WV XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX COMPLAINT AGAINST : VIOLATION : Great Lakes FAIR DEBT COLLECTIONS PRACTICES ACT XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, WI XXXX LIABILITY SECTION XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX ACCOUNT NUMBER : XXXX CONSUMER FINANCIAL PROTECTIONS BUREAU, I am reaching out for some help. Here is my complaint. Great Lakes is in violation of the FAIR DEBT COLLECTIONS PRACTICES ACT ( FDCPA ).
I have requested that Great Lakes provide me with an original version of the Master Promissory Note in its complete and original form for a debt that they claim I owe them. I have requested this item via certified mail with return receipt, fax with receipt, email, and phone calls. My first communication was sent on XXXX. They have sent me a copy of a signature page with a signature that looks like my signature, but I do not recognize the document nor do I remember ever signing it. The rest of the document is missing. Great Lakes cant find any of it except the page with the signature. Basically they have one sheet with a signature and no pages with any identifiable details on it. They are trying to make me pay them over {$7000.00} with a promissory note that is missing sections A-D and has no identifiable data with it or any terms to an agreement. They refuse to send a letter of deletion to the bureaus even though they do not have a complete contract and the paper that they do have, does n't have any details like address, DOB, Social Security Number, Name of School Attended, Loan Amount, ect. They only have a page with a signature.
I am asking for help because I feel like this business has violated the FDCPA by not providing sufficient documentation and not removing the account from my credit report after I have sent various requests in several forms for them to either provide sufficient proof of the debt or remove the account. Instead they have decided to stick to their guns and claim that the page they sent me is sufficient proof. I have sent the page of the promissory note that they sent me. They have told me that they do not have the rest of the contract. I spoke with an attorney today and showed them the document and the attorney told me that the page they sent me is a legal document but it would not hold up in court because it does n't have any information or terms. I have repeatedly asked for the rest of the document and they have repeatedly refused to do anything. I have a ton of documentation of my conversations with them in the form of certified letters, fax, phone, email, and etc. I have attached just a few to give you an idea of what I 'm dealing with.
Please help me resolve this matter and clear my name and my credit worthiness. If you need anymore details, then please ask.

The account was always in deferment status? I have asked them to show me proof of an actual payment being reported late? They can not because I was not required to make a payment on deferred account. The account is being reported at 90 and 120 days late but never was reported at 30 or 60 days late? Complaint: My student loans are currently reflecting incorrectly on all of the major credit bureaus. I have investigated and just now sent in for a complete investigation/audit to XXXX for refund issues with XXXX Kentucky University and XXXX XXXX XXXX.
Since obtaining my loans I was never properly Advised that by not doing a small income driven payment I would be saving myself apparently now thousands of dollars. Each time I have contacted them I was placed only on a forbearance.
As of now XXXX XXXX is reflecting the following to the bureaus which has my debt to income ratio WAY over the limits and is causing me to not be able to obtain loans and causing me negative harm and higher premiums on loans and insurance.
I tried contacting the consumer to find out why the balance ( amount that I have borrowed is right @ XXXX more than the what I originally borrowed ) and I get no where but transferred around. It can not be possible that I have generated XXXX interest on my account and if I have it is their fault for not placing me on a program where I would have at least been paying the interest while I was in school. They false advertise and their customer service lies to students about the options they have.
According to the FCRA if ANY Company falsely reports information and the Bureaus do not fully investigate ( which I have asked to do on multiple occasions ) They are required to remove this account from my files.

Complaint: After getting married in XX/XX/XXXX, I merged bank accounts with my husband in XX/XX/XXXX. That same day, I updated my bank account information on the Great Lakes website ( Student Loan provider ) in order for them to continue to withdraw money on a monthly basis ( auto pay ).
In XX/XX/XXXX I logged on to the Great Lakes website, and found out that they never processed the change in bank accounts ; and thus they did not withdraw any payments for the months of XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX.
Once I realized they had not collected any payments, I paid the full amount right away. However, they had already reported me to the credit bureau, and stated that I was " late '' in my payments for over 120 days.
I tried contacting Great Lakes and the Department of Education several times, and appealed the negative credit marks stating that was an error on their end. Despite my clean payment history for over 5-7 years, the request was denied.
It 's worth mentioning that no calls, letters or emails were sent to me notifying me that no payment had been made on my behalf. That would have alerted me that there was something wrong.
I then proceeded to hire XXXX XXXX so they could help me clean my credit and solve this situation. Appeal letters have been sent over the past several months, but nothing has been done by the Department of Educations.
This technical error on their end is costing me a low credit score ( that for so many years I so carefully built ), and it is currently impacting my qualifications to purchase a home.
