Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX my school, XXXX XXXX, went through its billing cycle ensuring that classes were paid for. We the students patiently waited for our refund checks to be deposited or sent and weeks went by with no update. Now here we are at the start of XXXX and we are finding out through articles on the internet, not the school itself, that the funds for the refunds are not there. There seems to be nothing to school can do at this point to ensure all students receive their refunds. The school was to refund me a stipend amount of {$6300.00} but failed to do so. I need to understand how this can be remedied.

Debt collection: Federal student loan debt

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: Hello, My name is XXXX XXXX and I have been paying XXXX XXXX XXXX for over two years thinking they were an official company that worked with the federal loan servicing company. Since then, I have found out that XXXX was operating fraudulently and deferring my student loans. I orginally paid {$600.00} to start the loan payments that XXXX said the govt does not want me to understand how to lower my loan payments so that is why they provide the service. I am gathering my bank statements to provide further evidence but know that I have paid them every month for more than two years. I am saddened that this company was able to operate for so long and take money from my peers and I which we thought were going towards our loan. I am now in the process of contacting the federal servicing loan to see what options I have to fix this problem. I do not understand how one man can get away with defrauding innocent students. Please help me. My representative was XXXX XXXX and she told me that XXXX was operating legally and I was fine with my payments and that XXXX did not want me to understand how to lower my payments and that is why they submit the documents and require my XXXX login information.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: Great Lakes sent my account to a loan service group named XXXX XXXX and I received a notice by the us dept of education that I would be garnished for non payment of loans in early XXXX. I was in forbearance with Great Lakes and I didnt receive any notice that my forbearance ended. I contacted XXXX XXXX immediately and was told I would be garnished for $ XXXX+/- a month until loans are paid ( {$12000.00} ). I explained that there is no way I can afford this, but I would be willing to pay up to {$300.00} a month. They asked me to fill out documents on my bills, and I did. We went over this in detail during our initial conversation. During this conversation, I was told I could make on time monthly payments for 10 months at $ XXXX/month and that will bring me back on track. I was happy to have this option. I mailed them in as instructed to, and was told they would get back to me with my arrangements. I never heard from them. I called them the first week of XXXX and was told that they never received the documents, and since they didnt, there was nothing they could do. They have moved forward with processing the garnishment and the amount is almost {$800.00} a month. I made this clear that this would put me at risk of losing my home, and assets, and they didnt care. I have no options at this point and I am scared.

Keep getting calls about your loan
Complaint: XX/XX/2019 On today 's date, I received a telephone call from a XXXX at the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX at XXXX, ext. XXXX. XXXX asked if I was ( stated my name ). I said yes. He advised that I was not the person that called him a few minutes ago. He inquired if I talked to him about two minutes ago. I stated no. I learned that the XXXX XXXX at XXXX attempted to get information about my loan and XXXX recognized that something was misaligned. He disconnected the call and made contact with me. During this conversation, I learned that the XXXX XXXX XXXX was NOT a part of the US Department of Education which I was lead to believe they were. I had received numerous calls from these people advising that I was a veteran and I must not let my loans default because it could be financially devastating. I end up paying these people {$720.00} to consolidate my loan which XXXX stated I did not need to. As a student and veteran, the Dept of Veteran Affairs and I could have done it myself. I want my money back and believe these people should not make nuisance calls wearing veterans or anyone down about defaulting on their loans. I believe their tactics are definitely predatory. I want to be reimbursed {$720.00}.

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Don't agree with the fees charged
Complaint: I've just reached out to Great Lakes, the loan provider, so maybe i'm jumping the gun. In 2018 I made every payment on time and in the same amount and the balance dropped incrementally from about {$81000.00} to {$72000.00} at end of year. My interest rate is 6.8 % on every loan that is bundled together in this payment. Meanwhile, my XXXX from Great Lakes shows {$8500.00} in interest paid in 2018. I'm not great at math, but this would imply an actual interest rate between 11 % and 12 % for the balance I carried. Is there any world in which this would make sense? My concern is that I was overcharged in 2018 and likely in past years as well.

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Complaint: Got a letter from Great Lakes stating my principle balance. To my surprise it was more than what I loaned. Over the past few years apparently the payment plan they have me on isn't paying any principle down, in fact it's accruing. I am struggling to understand how this can be offered to a student. This seems like a scam, to make money off a large education based debt. Is this legal? I called customer service at Great Lakes on XX/XX/19 to get an explanation and was told that it isn't explicitly revealed to the borrower that this payment plan will not pay off principle. Following that she claimed borrowers are told this information. Didn't seem clear. Shouldn't we be protected against programs that don't pay off our loans? I am beside myself as I support my family on a single income, trying to get out of my educational debt. An insurmountable hill knowing what I now know.

Complaint: My Daughter went to XXXX University and she needed a parent plus loan for student aid to help pay for school. I filled out the application once in her freshman year and and during the next 4 years never received the amount that was building up for the loan. She can never repay XXXX in student dept. The XXXX is the amount on the loan associated with the parent plus loan that I have with her. She also has a loan that is in her name only that she also has to pay for now, that loan is for XXXX. How can the school in good faith accumulate loans that they know the student can never repay, especially at 8 % federal loan rate. I need help to understand the proof the lender has that i agreed to pay all this money.

Complaint: Student Loans with stipends have not been dispersed, but we are being charged interest. We are not being provided any information about where our money is, other than we are in " receivership. '' The receiver does not have our money, but evidently it has been distributed by the Department of Education, but it has not been filtered down to the students. Students are being evicted from homes, cars are being repossessed, credit cards are not being paid ( meaning credit is being hurt ), people can not afford food or electricity. Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: In the beginning of XX/XX/2018, I received alerts informing me that my XXXX credit score went down 73 points and XXXX credit score went down 43 points due to a balance increase. I contacted Great Lakes asking for additional information and I was advised that the loan is still current but the interest capitalizes each month which calculates in an increase in the balance. However, they do not have control on how the credit bureaus calcuate the scoring for credit reporting. I immediately contacted XXXX and was advised that the loan is showing it showing deliquent status ( although I am showing it was current during the time of the 73 point reduction and to current date ). I proceeded with a despute and recently received a letter containing my credit report, no other information was provided showing the reduction in points. I would like each major credit reporting agency to actively research this information and make the necessary adjustments to the errors reported, effective XX/XX/2018.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: XXXX I started repaying my student loans, I am a XXXX and used the income based repayment plan, I payed on them from XXXX - XXXX, every year they made me do a new income based repayment plan request and send tax documents, which I did. In XXXX, they asked for paycheck stubs also, I sent those, then they asked for a letter from the company I work for, I sent that. During this time, I had automatic payments coming out. Suddenly I received a letter with a message " your request for a deferral has been approved '' then no payments. in XXXX, I tried finding the loans, but the company had sent them off and told me to go to the default loan service, I tried finding them to who they sent me to, they had no information. Now XX/XX/XXXX, I get a letter that my XXXX original loans is now XXXX dollars and it is with some other contracted company. I had auto payments set up and the company stopped taking money out, then could not find the loans even though I was looking and contacting the company. How do I fix this and get back to the income based repayment plan I had been on for 3 years, when they suddenly deferred it and then moved everything around.
