Complaint: I am part of the Equifax data hack. I have tried to call and put fraud alerts on my accounts, I was then directed to a website and that would be fine, except the websites are not working due to high volumes. I tried at all 3 of the credit bureaus.
I also tried to freeze my credit with Equifax and was directed to the online page, only to be told I have to handle it by mail or the page was n't working at all. I am very frustrated that I am left to deal with a mistake that was made by Equifax and ca n't get anyone to help me put a process in place to protect myself. It is not possible to get through to anyone at Equifax who can actually help you with any of these additional measures. I would like Equifax to pay to put a freeze on my credit for the next year, so I can try and keep my identity safe.
As a consumer, I understand accidents happen, but I also expect a company to do everything in their power to correct it ... ..I do n't feel any of the individual victims have been given the kind of customer service we deserve and I do n't feel we should have to pay additional money for an Equifax mistake .

Complaint: I have been told my inquiry and all but one of my accounts were going removed due the branch and hacking there were unauthorized inquiry on my credit file.And old account they were not mine.I called three times spoke with someone they we delete them .They did but returned back a week later.They are adding address and names to account.I have fraud alert on my account in hopes the removed the inquiry and accounts and they said they would.I am so scared about my personal information and wish they will remove the inquiry and all disputes I have seen in to their company.I was told three times and giving a confirmation that they will remove them.I did not get a letter stating why they keep adding and removing accounts and playing them back due the hack they are really tripping weekly.Please help resolve this .I didnt do any of them inquiry on my credit file and would like them removed

Complaint: Equifax mishandled my personal information including Name, Social Security #, Address, Birthdate, etc. resulting in a data breach in XXXX XXXX that they confirmed I was affected by per their " Potential Impact '' site www.equifaxsecurity2017.com.
They have put myself and millions of others at risk of identity theft/fraud due to negligent security protocols in handling consumer information. They are further attempting to capitalize on the situation by signing injured parties THEY are responsible for up for " trial periods '' of their ID protection services.
They are simultaneously defrauding these injured parties with hidden terms of service that waive their right to sue the company in what is clearly a situation of criminal negligence/fraudulent behavior as indicated by the three Equifax executives that dumped stock immediately prior to the data breach announcement.
I demand that they rectify this by making credit freezing free and refunding everyone who paid for it following this data breach. The negligent loss of personal information of nearly 200 million consumers is an unconscionable breech of ethical behavior by this company and it is further unreasonable that they are not directly notifying every single person affected by this regardless of their questionable " judgment '' of who to contact.

Complaint: This complaint is regarding the Equifax data breach first reported to the public in XXXX 2017. Equifax has been completely unhelpful thus far, offering only a website ( www.equifaxsecurity2017.com ) where one can check if his/her information has POTENTIALLY been compromised.
One serious problem with using the site mentioned above is the terms of service on that site, which state that a person who uses the lookup service provided there waives his/her legal rights. Considering that personal information released in the data breach will be " out there '' in the world in perpetuity, it is completely unacceptable that anyone be denied his/her legal rights by using their service. This is Equifax 's mess, that Equifax is now imposing on consumers ; taking away legal rights is completely unethical. Please investigate, and take steps against Equifax forcing them to remove such language and requirements from the website.
Another problem is that all attempts to get a copy of my credit report from Equifax have failed. I am accustomed the the procedure of getting my credit report from all three major credit reporting agencies. Equifax is requiring people to input all of their information, is asking questions to confirm identity, and then presents the online user with an error page ( for lack of a better term ) saying that the request for a credit report can not be processed. The same page instructs the user to send -- by snail mail -- an long and involved letter requesting the report, along with copies of the customer 's Social Security card and other personal documents. Again, Equifax is requiring this by snail mail. Given Equifax 's lax security and total breach of public trust, this request is ludicrous. Equifax can not be trusted with such delicate information, especially in hard copy format.
This is tantamount to denying me a credit report, since Equifax has demonstrated an astounding lack of security.
Final problem for the purpose of this report : Equifax can not be contacted for the purpose of placing a fraud alert AND a freeze on my credit account. Per the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, placing a fraud alert with one reporting agency can result in the other two agencies being notified of the fraud alert, BUT ONLY IF YOU REQUEST IT EXPLICITLY. I did not know this when I placed a fraud alert through XXXX XXXX website, and there was no notice on XXXX XXXX website that I had to request that XXXX have XXXX and Equifax also place fraud alerts on my accounts.
Equifax has created a mess, and then made itself either a ) inaccessible to help consumers, and/or b ) to get help, you must use their www.equifaxsecurity2017.com website which causes the consumer to waive legal rights. This is not right, and Equifax needs to be investigated and compelled to protect consumers ' legal rights as well as be compelled to provide credit protection services -- not for one lousy year, but in perpetuity. After all, the information they were responsible for safeguarding will be " out there '' forever. I and other consumers will have to incur extra expenses and hassles for decades to come.
Please investigate and force Equifax to correct the problems I detailed above.

Several C level executives of Equifax sold their shares long before this breach was made public. This goes to show that the breach was known about, but hidden so they could maintain millions in profits. This is unacceptable.

Complaint: Equifax failed to properly secure my personally identifiable information, leading to a breach which exposed the information of myself and nearly half of all Americans. The public was not notified promptly, and Equifax executives used this opportunity to sell stock to protect themselves rather than the public whose information they abused. I did not receive any information directly on this and instead learned about it through news reports. Equifax is only offering one year of credit monitoring, which is completely inadequate since this breach will cause security issues forever for anyone whose information was leaked.

I am extremely disappointed with how equifax has handled reporting this breach. Very little was done to notify the public for nearly a month after the breach was detected.
