Complaint: I have been contacted twice by representatives claiming to be from Diversified Consultants , Inc. saying that I owe more than {$200.00} to XXXX. These representatives have asked for my credit card information, my social security number and my physical address. I have spoken with XXXX and have been assured that my account is paid in full and that I have not been sent to collections. I have also checked my credit report through XXXX and I have an excellent score. I am concerned that either my identity has been stolen or that the phone calls are pretending to be DCI.

Complaint: I contacted the collection agency and advised that I do not recognize the account on my credit report and that I wanted to request verification and validation of the debt. I advised him that I was working directly with XXXX XXXX on my past due debt to receive service and the payments are being reported under XXXX XXXX. The collector then continued to offer me a settlement on this account for 70 % of the balance. They then informed me I have an account from XXXX XX/XX/2010 they can settle on as well. I told him I do n't believe them to be my accounts and requested proof of ownership. I then filed a dispute with the credit bureau 's and the collection agency replied quickly within days the debt was valid and it must remain on my credit report. It has been almost 2 weeks and I still have not received verification or validation of debt. I called the original creditor risk management department and was told that I have no other debt then the account I settled and my Current Account. The collection agency also attempted to collect on debt which was time barred past the statue of limitation without advising me that they did not have the right to sue me or force me to pay the debt if it was mine. They did not advise me that accepting settlement or making payments would have reinstated debt and caused longer reporting on my credit. My rights have been violated as well as the fdcpa and fcra. NC State Law also requires that you provide disclosure of time barred debts.
