Complaint: I bought XXXX iphones using my discover credit card. They got stolen. I filed a claim with discover under their purchase protection that they offer with their card. Its been over 2 months and the claims have not been resolved. One of the phones I purchased was part of XXXX line upgarde plan for {$260.00}. Discover is not settling the claim because they insist that I buy a replacement phone. There is no way for me to go to XXXX and get another phone since I already got my upgraded phone. They are expecting my to go and spend {$700.00} on a new iphone for me to be able to claim the {$260.00}. I am already down {$950.00} and no phones and they are expecting me to go and spend more. Discover is just cheating me. I trusted them but turns out they should not be trusted.

Complaint: I fell behind on my monthly payments on my Discover Card account due to some unanticipated expenses. When I was finally in a financial position to make payments again, I contacted them to make payment arrangements. The individual that I spoke offered me a settlement ( the account had been closed ) that would have me paying half the balance owed ( approx. account balance = {$13000.00} ), and as long as the monthly payments were met ( automatic withdrawals they scheduled ) they would credit the other half. At the time I was dealing with my mother 's health issues, and was relieved to have it taken care of. Unfortunately, I neglected to request a written copy of the agreement, and one was not sent to me. Additionally, since the account was closed, I was no longer receiving account statements and I had no access to my account. The payments were withdrawn as agreed though, totaling half of the account balance, and I thought all was well. Several months after the final payment though, Discover Card sent me correspondence stating that I still owed the other half of the balance on the account. I have disputed that, but Discover Card claims that they no longer have the recordings of my conversation with the representative that negotiated the agreement and scheduled the payments. Supposedly deleted after 90 days, even though the payments were scheduled to continue for not quite a year. They claim to have no records about the agreement that I made. The only " notes '' state that I rejected an agreement of {$7200.00} - which they extrapolate to mean that I agreed to pay the total account balance. Who would do that?! When I asked to speak to the individual who negotiated the agreement or his manager, since I distinctly remember the representative putting me on hold in order to get the agreement approved, they claim that information is not recorded in the account. They have sold the debt to a debt collection company, and now claim that the debt collection has " all '' the information about the account. Yet, when I disputed the debt, the debt collection company contacted Discover Card to request the records ( which were just copies of statements that were never sent to me ). I feel sure that there is a record of what actually transpired, either in the representative 's notes or his supervisor 's records, but Discover Card is refusing to provide any information. Are credit card companies required to maintain records of these types of transactions? And how does a consumer with a dispute compel a credit card company to provide all records related to an account? I recognize now that I should have requested a copy of the agreement. Some websites have even recommended not authorizing payments until a copy of the agreement has been received. I did not have that advice at the time, unfortunately. I have had no previous experience with this process, and was experiencing a tremendous amount of stress due to family issues ( and still are ) are my only excuses though.

Complaint: Hi, I filed for price protection for discover credit card. I submitted all the required documenation as per mentioned in price protection policy. However, they told me later i need to submit documentation pertaining to return credit from the same store for last 2-3 months. This was not mentioned in price protection policy and i did not save the return receipts. Discover customer representatives told me that they agreed that it is not mentioned in policy. Complaint: I recently applied online for a personal loan with Discover Bank to help consolidate my credit cards. After checking my credit, I got a message congratulating me on being approved for a {$20000.00} loan. They allowed me to choose the length of the loan, ( 48 months ) and Discover set the loan at a 12.99 % interest rate. Discover then asked how I wanted to receive the funds, by mail or direct deposit, and to list any creditors I wanted them to pay-off on my behalf. I filled out of that information and was told to expect the funds within 3-5 business days. Then as a final step to verify terms and conditions, I spoke with a representative, who asked very intrusive questions on why I needed the money, and why did I use my credit cards to pay for gas and groceries instead of using cash. After 30 minutes on the phone it was clear that I was being made to apply for the loan all over again, and was made to feel like I was begging for free money instead of money I would be paying back at a high rate of interest. Today, 3 days after applying, I received a letter in the mail saying the loan was denied because of " Excessive bank card balances and usage '' That makes little sense when the whole purpose of the loan was to consolidate credit card debt, which they knew from the very beginning before I got the message the loan was approved. I feel this is a case of discrimination because everything was fine and all set until I talked to the Discover representative on the phone at length, and he realized I am XXXX. My credit is good and I pay my bills on time every month, so why was a loan that was already approved suddenly not approved?

Complaint: Discover bank is trying to obtain my phone number for illegal purposes. I have a private student loan from Discover. In XX/XX/XXXX I had some issues with them harassing me and my family via phone. As this time I requested that Discover not call me anymore. This do not call was violated a few times over the past 5 years, but more or less was abided by. On XX/XX/XXXX I attempted to log on to my online account, but I could not without entering a phone number and clicking on a button to accept calls and communications from Discover. I called discover and asked to speak with a supervisor. They told me they would investigate. On XX/XX/XXXX I attempted to log on and pay my bill. I was still being required to enter my phone number. I called to follow up and spoke with XXXX ( Refused to Provide Last Name ), A supervisor in the Student Loan Department. She reviewed the file and told me there was nothing she could do. I asked to be transferred to someone who could help. She refused. I asked to be transferred to the Executive Office. She refused. I asked for the phone number for the Executive Office. She lied and said there was not a phone number. I explained to her that I know that is not correct. She then back-peddled and explained she would have to look into it.

Complaint: It was just brought to my attention that Discover has been charging me a " discoverpaymentprotection '' fee every month since 2008. This charge is XXXX per {$100.00} balance. They state that I had signed up for this over the phone while speaking with an agent but have refused to provide me with any documentation or a recording of that call where I supposedly signed up for this. There is no possible way that I knowingly signed up for something like this. They have offered to refund me 6 months of the fee but this has cost me by my rough math in excess of {$1500.00} over the last 10 years and as I can not recall and very much doubt ever signing up for this and they can not provide any proof that I authorized this charge I am due back the full amount of this fees charges to my balance since 2008. Really I should be refunded interest charged on that additional balance as well but would settle for the amount of the erroneous fee.
