Complaint: On XXXX XXXX , 2017 , I purchased a brand new textbook from XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX , CA for {$85.00} using my Discover Card. This textbook, in brand new condition, was supposed to come with an online access code. The textbook that I received, however, DID NOT come with such a code. In addition, the textbook was missing pages. After multiple unsuccessful attempts at working this out directly with the merchant, a dispute was filed on XXXX XXXX , 2017 directly with my credit card iss uer, Discover Card . On XXXX XXXX , I received notification that the credit card issuer is unwilling to assist me in this case due to " lack of documentation '' from my end. With all due respect, I expect a full credit to be issued here. I received damaged merchandise from a dishonorable and dishonest merchant. I tried, in my best interest, to get this issue directly resolved with the merchant. When the merchant refused to cooperate, a billing dispute was initiated. As it stands right now, I am left with a damaged and defective textbook that is missing content and a credit card issuer refusing to cooperate in this investigation. I expect Discover Card to be held fully accountable for this as I did everything I possibly could with respect to a resolution with the merchant. In this circumstance, a full refund of {$85.00} is the only amicable resolution to this defective textbook purchased.

Complaint: On XXXX / XXXX / XXXX I pursed some product from XXXX . I never received an invoice for this transaction for my records. I was then charged on my credit card. However, I believe the charges to be incorrect. I am unable to verify because XXXX refuses to provide me an actual invoice from the transaction. I believe that is because they know they over charged me and are trying to steal my money. I dispute this charge with Discover and requested an actual invoice. I received a typed letter from XXXX , NOT AN INVOICE. I could type up a letter and have a read anything that I want. I will need to see an actual invoice form their system to prove this amount. If they would have just emailed or mailed me an invoice in the first place, this could be easily have been resolved. That is why I believe this company is trying to cheat customers.

Complaint: I am a United States XXXX who partied in XXXX . When my XXXX XXXX contract ended, I attended XXXX University where I obtained a XXXX XXXX . To cover the cost of tuition acquired federal and private student loans. Shortly after acquiring my loans, Discover increased my monthly payment to {$650.00}. I call Discover on several occasions to negotiate a lower monthly payment, and I was told to pay {$320.00} at the due date and pay another {$320.00} before the next due date to avoid going into collections. Managing my payments that way would eventually became very problematic for me. However, I did as I was told for as long as I could, until my contract at work wasnt renewed . I called Discover a gain to explain my situation and I also explained that I had an arrangement with XXXX to cap my monthly loan payments at {$450.0 0}. Discover woul d not offer any flexible options for repaying loans. I had to decide between, rent, and keeping my other debts ( credit cards ) current. I am not proud of my financial circumstance ; however, I feel I did all I could to keep my loans from going into collections. As I write this letter I still owe over $ 40K in Federal student loans and I have close to $ 10K worth of credit card debt. I want to pay all of my de bts and improve my credit worthiness but at this point in my life I dont make a whole lot of money. Outside of my private student loans, I have never defaulted on any loans or credit product. My federal student loans, credit cards, and car loan are all current. The primary reason for all this is because they were willing to offer me a flexible payment option. Today I can honestly say, my private student loans are one of t he reasons for my XXXX .

Complaint: Late fees assessed improperly. I called i n 2015 to in quire about changing the billing date of my personal loan payment and was instructed that I could do thi s three times throughout the loan. I then went online and changed my auto-payment date, thinking that would have the effect of changing the official payment date, but it did not. Since I was using auto-pay, I did n't know I was being assessed a late fee every month, despite not being told at the time I changed my auto-pay date that this would not change my official payment date. The total late fees assessed were XXXX x {$39.00} = {$390.00}. Once I realized this occurred, I called and the customer service rep was authorized to refund XXXX , leaving an outstanding balance of {$270.00}.

He said they could if I voluntarily suspended my account, and it would not affect my credit score. I explained the reason I opened an account with Discover was to improve my credit score, that my interest charges were making it impossible for me to reduce my balance. I told him I made over the required payments due monthly and have never been delinquent with my payments. and have not used my card for several months. I did not want to file bankruptcy. He thanked me and stated my credit score would not be effected. I received my XXXX 2 017 statement and my credit score was affected, it read XXXX it was previously XXXX . I called Discover toda y XXXX XXXX , 2017 at XXXX XXXX spoke to XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX told her of my previous conversation she transferred me to a representative named XXXX XXXX ; XXXX XXXX I told her of the previous conversation that I had with XXXX , and the reason I voluntarily suspended my account was to better my credit score she was very rude and dismissive she stated we dont do that, go online and check your credit score I then asked if she would give me the name and address of the C.E.O. of Discover bank. She replied What? I repeated th e Chief Executive Officer of Discover. She replied What whos that? I said it would sound a lot nicer to say ex cuse me. She said Ho ld ON! I held on f or fifteen minutes, called back XXXX XXXX XXXX answered again, I asked to speak to her supervisor or Manager She said hold on I then spoke to Supervisor XXXX Id # XXXX XXXX XXXX told of the conversation with XXXX and asked if he would give me the name and address to the corporate department of Discover he said I can not, gave me XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Utah XXXX . I asked if he had a physical address to the C.E.O he said no, I asked if there was a manager that I could speak to he said there are several managers I asked can you give me a name he said XXXX I asked may I speak to him he said they dont take calls you can write to the address I just gave you and they will look into it. I then called F.D.I.C who referred me to your department.

Complaint: I have a Discover credit card. It has been delinquent and I received several voicemails asking me to call or to go online and make payment arrangements on or before end of XXXX , XXXX or the account would be charged off. I made a payment plan arrangement online before the deadline. When I went online this week ( week pf XXXX XXXX ) to check on status, I was unable to login as my account was in " special status '' and I was instructed to call XXXX , which I did. After a run around, I was told my account had been transferred to another division of Discover and told to contact them at XXXX , but also told they were closed at XXXX cst ( it was XXXX cst when I first called Discover ). Meanwhile, my father had received a call from a debt collector at XXXX cst today - we presume a debt collector as they did n't identify themselves, but a reverse phone check of the number ( XXXX ) revealed them to be a firm called XXXX XXXX - a firm neither my father or I had ever heard of before. I mentioned this name and number to the Discover rep and they were n't aware of the cos or if the management of my account has been transferred from Discover to XXXX .

Complaint: I have b een a Discover ca rd customer sin XXXX . Over this time, I have reached my maximum balance and have paid off in full several times, the last time I paid off in full ( XXXX ) was in XXXX XXXX . I have continued to use the card since, and because I have been using automatic deduction from my primary checking account, I did not realize that there have been an increase in my APR to 29.99 % from 18 ; however the rep I spoke to stated that it had bee n 24 for s ome time. I was also told that because I had been late in XXXX !, they had raised my APR, and unfortunately, would not be able to lower it. I have a fair to good credit score ; however it is generally in the good range, as I am able to meet my financial obligations. I feel violated by Discover, and after searching on the internet I now realize that there are many more consumers with similar complaints.
