Complaint: After calling and confirming that Barclays was waving fees for military members, I applied and was approved for the Luxury Gold Card. Shortly after I recieved a statement from Barclay 's confirming my annual fee would be waived along with a reduction in my apr to 0 %. One year later, Barclay 's has come out saying this will no longer be the case, and that I will be responsible for the annual fee of the card going forward. They are claiming that the waivers are being rescinded because they have a new interpretation of the SCRA. While their new assessment is correct, it does n't change the fact that I applied for the card and accepted the credit score implications only after being told that the conditions would remain the same " as long as I remained on XXXX XXXX . '' I have been and will continue to be on XXXX XXXX for the foreseeable future. As I am continuing to meet my obligation under the original terms, I would ask that Barclay 's honor their original agreement with me.

Complaint: I signed up fo r a Mastercard Gold Card through Barclaycard 's " Luxury Card '' brand in XXXX XXXX . Prior to signing up and activating my card, I called and verified that Barclaycard waived annual fees and granted SCRA benefits to active duty servi ce members, which they did. Less than a yea r later, Barclaycard has mailed me a notice saying they have changed their policies and rescinded the portion of SCRA benefits that allow service members to have their annual fees waived if they were already on active duty when applying for their credit card. They will now charge an annual fee amounting to {$990.00} for myself and {$290.00} for my wife as an authorized user. The balance on the card must now be transferred to another card prior to cancelling, creating additional fees due to balance transfer. Barclaycard 's policy chan ge is unethical and forces service members carrying a balance to either pay a balance transfer fee to another credit card or pay an excessively high annual fee they were not anticipating.

Complaint: In the summer of XXXX one of my friends told me about a special offer Barclay 's Bank of Delawa re was offering to XXXX XXXX military fo r its Gold Card credit card. I contacted Barclays to inquire about the special offer and the woman I spoke with confirmed that Barclay 's was waving the annual fee for all XXXX XXXX military who qualified for the credit card. As part of the offer Barclay 's was also offering 0 % interest on the balance of a card. I applied for a card for me and another for my spouse. As part of the application, I sent a copy of my most recent XXXX to prove my XXXX XXXX status. Within a couple of weeks, I was approved. The welcome aboard letter assured me tha t Barclay 's would continue to wave the annual fees and maintain 0 % interest on my account balance as long as I was on XXXX XXXX . However, earlier this month , Barclays sent me a letter informing me that they would no longer wave the annual fees and I would have to pay the annual fee beginning in XXXX . I immediately called Barclays and after some discussion with the customer service representative, closed my account because I did not want to pay the annual fee. In hindsight, I should have immediately filed a complaint agains t Barclay 's for breach of contract and waited for resolution before closing the account. However, by refusing to wave the annual fee, Barclay 's altered the agreement we had when I was approved for a credit card.

Closing/Cancelling account

Credit card:

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX , XXXX , I opened a Mastercard XXXX XXXX account. The holding bank was : BARCLAYS BANK XXXX XXXX XXXX , DE -- XXXX I closed the account in late XXXX . I had n't received the card, and was n't using it. The representative I called agreed that my account would be closed. I paid off the final fee. A year later, I was sent a bill for my new annual fee, even though I had asked to cancel the card. On XXXX XXXX , XXXX , I again called the service center associated with the card. I was told the fee would be waived and my card would be canceled. Instead, Mastercard kept on billing me, loading my credit report with a late payment. I 'm told I now owe {$130.00}, and I was denied today in applying for a new credit card because of the impact on my credit report. I would like the {$130.00} to be waived, and the association with Mastercard and Barclays erased from my credit report. Best regards, XXXX XXXX

Identity theft / Fraud / Embezzlement

Complaint: I was the victim of aggravated identity fraud per th e US Department of Justice. I was advised to fill out paperwork on the FTC website and I did and correspondedly sent letter to the affected accounts of mine. I sent letters to 6 of my cr editors in early XXXX . Since then 4 have deemed the U S DOJ and the Internal Revenue Service as accurate that fraud took place regarding my name and my wife 's name. For some reason Barclays and XXXX XXXX ( XXXX is still in review ) are the only ones who have n't refunded me my money. Barclays flat out denied my claims all the while disregarding the paperwork the federal entities have provided. XXXX XXXX in the Executive Office has n't followed through on my request that I get the reason for denial with the corresponding reason why each charge is being stuck with me. I 've reached out to several of the vendors on the list and they have inaccurate information on me whether it 's the wrong name, address, etc . Barclays c learly did n't do a full review on these charges. I 'm submitting this again so this file can be reviewed again in full. I 've Also submitted these papers to the Delaware state banking commission that also regulated Barclays on the state level. They 've received my paperwork and based off our hour long phone call, they were in agreement that Barclay 's has n't been forthcoming among other issues. I 'm submitting this through the CFPB to get further help so the money stolen from me can rightfully be returned. Many thanks for your review

Disclosure verification of debt

Debt collection: Credit card

Not given enough info to verify debt
Complaint: On XXXX XXXX I submitted a dispute to all three CRAs. I have received the results from XXXX and XXXX , but not XXXX . However, I have credit monitoring service and it shows where the account was updated. They have updated the account so that the charge-off appeared more recent than it originally was and they also have it listed as a revolving account. This caused my score to drop by many points. I never received proper validation of this account. I sent to the CRAs a copy of the order that I won my lawsuit against Barclays Bank of D elawar e in Court. E ach report is reporting a different date that the account is open, the highest balance is different on each CR, Additionally, it seems as if they added late payments in after the closed d ate. Dispite providing each CRAs, with documentation to support my claims, they never completed a full investigation and they never forwarded documentation to me to validate this debt . Barclays Bank has constantly failed to provide me with this information, and now I am being further victimized with a huge drop in my credit score.I have attached evidence of everything below.

Complaint: I am an XXXX military member and signed up for the Barclaycard 's Luxury MasterCard Gold Card which carries an annual fee of {$990.00}. It became well known though that they would waive the annual fee for XXXX military members and lower the APR to 0 % while the cardholder is on XXXX. This is the case when I signed up and was informed that they indeed were providing those additional benefits under XXXX. Those benefits are above what XXXX calls for, but nonetheless, they are benefits that were promised and initially granted. I was told that I would pay no annual fee as long as I remained on XXXX. About a month ago, I received a letter stating that they would no longer waive the annual fee and that they were not grandfathering me in, although I had already signed up for the card about 7 months ago and was explicitly told that I would not be charged the annual fee ( the 0 % APR remains in effect ). They have reversed course on a deal that they were providing ( understandable ) and were not going to honor that deal that they had already made to current members ( not so understandable ).

Customer service / Customer relations

Credit card:

Complaint: To Whom it may concern, I currently serve as an XXXX member in the XXXX. I am moving overseas to XXXX, and taken on debt, knowing Barclays contract of 0 % APR and no annual fees, to cover the costs associated with a move across the globe. I wanted to bring to your attention to a cancellation of Servicemembers Civil Relief Act ( SCRA ) benefits by Barclays Bank on their Mastercard Gold Card that will likely put many servicemembers, including myself, in a financial bind, and at the very least is an abuse of those servicemembers ' good faith and trust in Barclays as a financial institution and lender. In XX/XX/XXXX, I, along with many friends currently in my unit, opened a Barclays Gold Card with an agreement that the SCRA benefits afforded to me would include a 0 % interest rate on both old and new purchases, balance transfers and cash advances ; no fees of any kind, which included waiving the annual fee of {$990.00} each year and charge of {$290.00} for each authorized user ; and no collection efforts. After reading that the waiver of annual fees was withdrawn from the offered benefits on XX/XX/XXXX. Over the phone with Barclays, I was assured that I have these benefits until year XX/XX/XXXX. The customer service representative said " my entire lifetime, as long as I held the card. '' I would be happy to hold these benefits as long as I am XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a memo stating the annual fee would now be assessed each year, and I will be charged {$990.00} dollars. I will be XXXX/moving out of the Country as an XXXX member, and have utilized my Barclays XXXX XXXX to cover costs associated with an overseas move. I am worried I can not afford to pay off my credit card before the annual fee is assessed, and therefore, putting me into an even deeper financial bind. Barclays should grandfather the annual fee waiver until my XXXX service is over, in order to give me time to pay off my {$15000.00} balance that I acquired to support my overseas move. I write because I know of countless servicemembers who were deceived by Barclays, offered extremely high credit lines, most in excess of {$25000.00}, with the promise of 0 % AP. I now face the decision to either pay the balance and close their credit card, possibly putting them in a position of financial hardship, or pay the exorbitant annual fee. I hope you can see why this is an abuse of both servicemembers ' trust and the spirit of the SCRA, which has long provided XXXX members and Veterans a piece of mind in making financial decisions.
