Complaint: Comenity manage 's XXXX XXXX 's consumer credit card. I paid a bill on XX/XX/XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX statement ) and on XX/XX/XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX Statement ). Then was hit with a late fee for not paying my XXXX statement minimum payment. When I called I was told I paid between billing cycles, which was true. However, when I checked my account on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX my account portal stated that I had a {$0.00} minimum payment. When I logged in on XX/XX/XXXX I scheduled a payment of {$30.00} to be withdrawn from my account on XX/XX/XXXX for my XX/XX/XXXX statement. When my XX/XX/XXXX statement was available on XX/XX/XXXX is when the late fee was assessed. I contacted Comenity and was told I was late on my payments. When I finally was able to get the associate to see the full time line of payments and I explained to her that when I logged into my account to confirm if I owed a balance she told me that the online account system was irrelevant. Which is extremely troubling given I use that portal to manage my account the few times I do choose to use this card. If this portal is " irrelevant '' as I as told how am I then able to properly manage my account.

Delinquent account

Complaint: I failed to make my monthly payment with PayPal Credit, and as a result they sent my account to their collections department. Once my account was in their collections department, I began receiving three calls per day. After XXXX3 days, even though I was in a meeting, I took their call and arrange the payment to be scheduled. I did this soley because I wanted the phone calls 3 times per day to stop. When I answered their 3rd phone call today, no one was on the line and the call was disconnected, so I called back. I spoke with XXXX different representatives, XXXX of them was a supervisor. XXXX of the non-supervisors I spoke to asked if I wanted to placed on their cease and desist call list. I told him that that was n't necessary as I appreciated the follow up on the occasions where I forgot to make a payment. I further explained that my unhappiness with the phone calls was because I was called three times per day which I was annoyed with and felt harassed by. I informed the supervisor that I spoke with of the same sentiments and also informed him that I would be submitting a complaint with the CFPB. He said that he would notate my complaint.

APR or interest rate

Credit card:

Complaint: We have a dentistry loan ; my husband needs massive dental work, and despite having XXXX dental policies, we 're still regularly paying thousands out of pocket for his care. We were granted a loan at our dentist 's office through XXXX ( a 3rd party credit card that our dentist contracts with ). On its face, this loan is attractive - there 's a one year no interest grace period. However, after that year, the interest rate becomes 23 % and the interest is compounded. We had always planned to pay the balance off before the 23 % and compound. A few months before the grace period expiration, my husband needed another {$1000.00} in care. We were offered another loan, and we asked, " will this resent the grace period on the loan? '' We were told that it would at the dentist 's office. It did n't. We noticed an additional fee of almost {$1600.00} earlier this week, so we spoke first with our dentist about it, thinking that it was an office error. The dentist 's receptionist who gave my husband the information that the new charge would reset the grace period, ( XXXX ), was unhelpful and went and got the office Manager, XXXX. XXXX explained to us that the grace period would only be for the new balance and that even though we have XXXX card, it 's counted as XXXX transaction. We told them what we had been told, and they shrugged it off with a half-hearted apology. It would have been nice to know all this three weeks ago. I have already discussed the situation with the dentist 's office and reminded them of the laws governing contracts and contract fraud - as well as the fact that intent to defraud is n't required. We also contacted XXXX - the best that they could do was remove XXXX of the XXXX interest, DESPITE the fact that we paid the balance in full today ( {$5600.00} ). My issue is that 1. there 's a communication error somewhere between The XXXX XXXX and the people signing customers up for their product. 2. That miscommunication is costing people copious money - XXXX on XXXX principle is ridiculous. 3. Once the error becomes obvious, there 's no recourse to the consumer. 4. Individuals at the XXXX XXXX are n't all rude but XXXX that we dealt with were very rude in discussing this. We have always paid our bills, and I feel that this is a scam to lull sick people who need large amounts of dental care into these ridiculous interest rates and unacceptable business practices.

Right to dispute notice not received
Complaint: I am disputing a collection debt from XXXX ( Acct. # : XXXX ) that I discovered on my credit report without being notified from the creditor. I am now in the process of disputing this debt with the Credit Reporting Agencies and with XXXX. This collection agency has also illegally re-aged this account according to the original creditor 's date of first delinquency. The original creditor is Comenity Bank whose debt I 've already successfully disputed. Because re-aging accounts is a serious offense under the FCRA, I am reporting XXXX to you so as to warn others about the illegal practices of debt collectors.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2017 my bank issued a paper check in the amount of XXXX to Paypal Credit. This check was received and deposited by XXXX of XX/XX/2017. On XX/XX/XXXX, my account still showed a balance of {$650.00}. I asked about it, and they requested I provide them with check number, date of issue, date of deposit. This information was provided. I have provided this information to them several times, both by email, and by phone. They still have not credited my account for XXXX. The last message I received from them today asked me to provide proof of electronic payment -- when I have already told them a check was mailed. They keep asking for the same information over and over again and wo n't resolve the issue. They have not made any progress, and each representative I speak to seems to be talking about the situation as if it were the first time I 've made the complaint.

Delinquent account

Complaint: First I recieved a phone call from someone who said I was being sued over a debt I had and to call this phone number he gave me to talk tomsomeone regarding this debt. I called the number he gave me and spoke with a guy XXXX XXXX he said I was being sued for a bon ton credit card i had 15 years ago in the amount of around XXXX but i could settle this debt now and not be sued if I paid somewhere around XXXX dollars. I was freaking out I told him I did not have XXXX dollars, he told he if I gave him so much down and then i could give him the rest later. I had to give him a date I would b able to give him the rest. He said he sent me letter saying I was going to be sued but i never recieved them. Well when I looked at my bank statement the XXXX dollar payment was made to a company called XXXX in California. My wife did some research and found people online were being scammed in the same way I was being scammed. So I called XXXX and told him I was afraid I was being scammed and he said he would send me a statement, saying what I owed and other information, by email. I got the email and at the top it said his company name which is XXXX and XXXX. My wife immeadately looked them up online and nothing came up. So I called the bon ton they said they didnt have any record of my account and that the statue if limitations would have ran out on my credit card and that they couldnt come after me 17 years later for this debt. She said to look up my credit score and if there was something u owed it would b on there. So did that and there was nothing. I called XXXX back and asked him about the statue of limitations thing and he said well u made a payment on this acct a while back. I know for a fact that I have never made a payment on this card since the last one I made 15 years ago. I told him I was n't going to pay him anymore money. He said he was going to sue me. I was XXXX in my youth and made mistakes I 'm still paying, in bad credit, for, but these guys are taking advantage of people.

Delinquent account

Complaint: I received a notice that my credit score had changed and found that XXXX had reported a 30 day past due credit notice to the credit companies. When I contacted XXXX, they told me I had a {$15.00} past due balance, that I had signed up for e-billing, and it was past due. They then told me they did not show where I had registered for an e-billing account, but told me I should have received an electronic statement. I did not receive any statements, electronic or paper. The representative indicated they had tried to contact me, but they use " robo-calls '' that come in as Private Numbers. There were no messages left by anyone about a past-due bill, and no bills received by me. I asked them to contact the credit bureaus and reverse the credit reporting and they refused to. I have had no history of late payment with XXXX and was not aware, or made aware of a late payment via email, mail, or phone message. The phone numbers they had on my file were incorrect when I contacted them. They updated my numbers at the time of my call. I paid the balance due in full. They refuse to accept responsibility for not contacting me or informing me of my late due payment.

Closing/Cancelling account

Credit card:

Complaint: My issue is that I continue to get billed for interest charges on an account that has been closed since XXXX 2016. This account was opened for an order that was cancelled. Upon cancelling the order, I 'm not sure why the charge for the XXXX membership remained but once I became aware of it, I paid it including the late fee it assessed for a total of {$21.00}. I spoke with your customer service team in XXXX and was told that upon paying the {$21.00}, my bill would be settled but it 's not as the interest charges continue to accrue. When I call XXXX, they tell me I need to deal with Comenity Bank and when I 've called your customer service, they can not understand why the charges have accrued and tell me to call XXXX. I 've sent certified letters to Comenity and also contacted XXXX via email but have not received a response and the interest keeps accruing on my account without being able to speak with someone that can resolve it.

Billing disputes

Credit card:

Complaint: I believe PayPal is a fraud. They do not have accurate reporting on their web site. They they slap you with huge finance charges even when the web site says nothing is due. They blame it on the fact that there are XXXX companies XXXX and PayPal Credit but it is XXXX company. They do not allow any grace period One day nothing is due on their wb site and the next day you are overdue. If you pay that same day by XXXX they say there is no grace period. That is against the rules of the California Consumer Protection ACT but they do n't seem to realize I live in CA. So I stopped paying PayPal and watched the balance double every month. When they finally called one day I told them why I was not paying their charges. They said they would remove all finance charges and late fees but there was still a balance due of {$38.00}. There was no balance due. That payment was purely extortion. My bank XXXX is a large insurance company and they did not want to audit PayPal. If they had requested an audit of the charges they would have realized that it was pure extortion. If you request and audit of that XXXX dollars it would be revealing. There was XXXX balance due. Thanks for all your help. -- XXXX
