Complaint: Im trying to buy a new truck and the place where im getting the truck told me that I owe American Express a large sum of money which is incorrect. I called American Express they said they are showing the same thing but I do not have a balance on the card. I dont know how long this has been going on but its affected my credit alot. They told me that they would fix the problem but still haven't Im beyond mad because I probably wont be able to get the loan for the truck because of them.

Complaint: I referred my friend for the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Credit Card on XX/XX/2017. American Express had a program that promised me XXXX XXXX XXXX points if that referral was approved. The referral was approved on XX/XX/2017. I've reached out to American Express many times and they keep saying to check back in a few weeks. It has now been 16 weeks and there has been no resolution. I have given them the opportunity to fix this, but they keep stalling and telling me to check back later.

Complaint: I have an AMEX Platinum card and was sent an application for a Gold card which included a XXXX mileage reward. When I applied I told AMEX ( XX/XX/XXXX ) I thought I once had a Gold card, but AMEX assured me I was eligible. I met the spending requirement and in XX/XX/XXXX not seeing the miles, questioned Amex. The company said the miles would be posted. When the miles did not turn up in XX/XX/XXXX, I called again and was told I was not eligible because I once had a Gold card. I made every effort to clarify my position and believe AMEX owes me the mileage reward.

Complaint: I called in to American Express in XX/XX/XXXX to inquire about my Annual spending on my Delta Reserve card. The purpose was to see how close I was to my annual {$60000.00} required spend to receive an additional XXXX delta MQM 's which would have taken me to the next medallion tier with Delta. I spoke to a US Based representative who informed me that I had met the required spend in XX/XX/XXXX and would receive my MQM 's aprox XX/XX/XXXX and assured me that I didn't need to do anything else. When those MQM 's never came from Delta, I called in again in XX/XX/XXXX to inquire. I was informed at that point that I was previously misinformed and that the card spend was on different AMEX cards ( I changed in Q1 from a business reserve to a personal reserve ) and for that reason I did not qualify BUT since the damage was done and I was led astray by AMEX, they would open an investigation and pull the call logs from my XX/XX/XXXX call. If they could confirm ( which they did ) that I was told what I claimed ( which I was ) that AMEX would without doubt honor their mistake. I was told that would take 3 days and then AMEX would call me back. After 3 days I called again and was told that in fact it could take up to 60 days. When I advised that the time frame was unacceptable they escalated my compliant and I was told I would hear back in 14 days. After 14 days and no call from AMEX, I called and and spoke to US based supervisor XXXX ( # XXXX ) who assured me she would get to the bottom of things and would call me 3 days later on a Monday.. On Wednesday/Thursday I called in again and spoke to US based supervisor XXXX ( # XXXX ) who assured me that I would get a call back from XXXX right away. That never happened and I've since talked to 2 more supervisors who promised they would help and of course I never heard back. Several times I've been assured that AMEX would do the right thing and honor what they told me but no one there seems to care or have an ounce of accountability. I need help please!

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I applied for the American Express SimplyCash Plus Card. I received an email that same day alerting me that I was approved. The card arrived the following week and I began making purchases with it.
On XX/XX/XXXX, I went to make a purchase online at XXXX and the charge was denied. I logged into my American Express account to verify that the charge did not go through. There was a banner on my account telling me that the card was canceled. I was not aware of this, I did not request cancellation, and American Express did not send me an email or text to alert me.
I called American Express on XX/XX/XXXX to ask what happened. They told me they had called to verify my information. Since I don't accept calls from random phone numbers, I did not get the calls. I asked them to open the card and the woman I spoke with told me that she could re-open the account and send me a new card. I agreed.
On XX/XX/XXXX, I chatted into XXXX XXXX to confirm that the promotional bonus I had used to sign up was still attached to my account. Remember : the account I opened remained unchanged. The charges I had made were still there and all were accurate. Only the card itself was replaced. The terms of the sign up bonus were as follows : " Special Offer : Earn up to {$500.00} cash back Earn a {$250.00} statement credit after you spend {$5000.00} in qualifying purchases on your Card within the first 6 months of Card Membership.
Plus, earn an additional {$250.00} statement credit after you spend an additional {$10000.00} or more in qualifying purchases on your Card within the first year of Card Membership. '' The terms in quotations above are directly from the American Express application page. I have saved a screenshot of the page I used as well and can submit it if need be.
The chat rep told me that the bonus terms no longer apply because the card has been replaced. I told him that the account remains unchanged and that only the card itself was replaced. Again, I did not request the cancellation and American Express did that without my knowledge or consent. He then put his supervisor on the line and he/she repeated the same message. This is not good policy : put out an offer to entice a customer, cancel the card, and then re-open the card WITHOUT TELLING ME THAT THE BONUS WOULD NO LONGER APPLY. I only found out about this because I contacted them myself.
For the reasons above, I'm escalating this complaint to the CFPB.

Complaint: First week of XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter in the mail stating that XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX would soon become American Express XXXX Honors " XXXX " ( not sure if that is correctly spelled ) card. I assumed that XXXX XXXX would close my account, send me a bill and Amex would send me a new card. None of this happened. Instead I am flying out for work and my card didn't work any longer. I called XXXX bank from the airport and they explained that XXXX sold their account to American Express and XXXX has no way of viewing or sending me any other information. Everything is now in the hands of XXXX. I call XXXX with a number provided by XXXX. After a half an hour of talking to them and explaining that I have not gotten any info from them or a card. They said they would rush one to me as I returned from my work trip. Nothing came. I called on Tuesday XX/XX/XXXX and it was supposed to be to me no later than Sat. XX/XX/XXXX. I called back from the airport on my next trip and again another half hour and three reps and I told them to close my account and bill me. Then they sent me to another rep who started all over again. Then they emailed me after and I returned the email to close my account and bill me. I don't want to do business with this kind of company that can not be professional and responsible. I don't know what to do at this point. I want my bill so I can pay it off and close the account. But I keep getting no where.
