Debt was result of identity theft
Complaint: I have absolutely no idea what these accounts are, I have never opened a account with these creditors and want this removed. I have notified my local Police department of these fraudulent accounts and have made a police report, also I have taken the proper steps to report these accounts to the Federal Trade Comission ( FTC ) and filed fraud/identity theft reports with them.
Also in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act 2009, I am asking you to immediately stop all collection activities about this debt, including reporting to credit reporting agencies. I also ask that you tell the business where the account was opened that this debt is the result of Identity theft, and can not be collected, sold or transferred.
I have already notified American Express and have sent over all the necessary paperwork, I am also asking XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to do the same as stated on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2017, I was offered a promotion by a representative from American Express ( Amex ) during a phone call. The promotion was about adding additional authorized users ( additional cards ), and I would earn XXXX Membership Reward ( MR ) points after {$500.00} purchase of each additional card. Up to XXXX MR points in total. I accepted the offer and added 4 additional users to my card. The whole process was monitored by a supervisor of the representative, and they ensured me that they would keep this in mind and if all of the additional cards hit the {$500.00} purchase requirements, they would credit the XXXX MR points to my account. They especially guaranteed this because the offer was initially removed by a representative by accident without my permission, but they manually added this offer and the supervisor promised me that he would honor this promotion.
All of my additional users spend more than {$500.00} by XX/XX/XXXX this year, but the MR points have not been credited to my account after a few weeks. Therefore, I called Amex multiple times and even reached out their supervisors several times, but they seemed to know nothing about the " promise '' the supervisor gave to me ( he previously said he had put notes to my account to honor the promotion ). Thus, Amex agreed to set up a case for investigation. However, in XX/XX/XXXX, the case was still pending. It has been more than 6 weeks since I first contacted them about this issue.
Importantly, it is not something difficult for Amex especially when my conversation with the supervisor on XX/XX/2017 is recorded. I feel helpless and depressed because Amex first gave me the promotional offer and guaranteed that the offer would be honored. Then, when I met the promotional offer, they started to shirk responsibilities. Customers are always in a passive role, especially in such situations. I really want to Amex to go ahead and check to the conversation record and honor the XXXX MR points. Keeping promise is an important policy for any merchants.

Complaint: American express decided to close my account without speaking with me in regards to a resolution ... ..I spoke with a representative XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX week about payment arrangements .... Which I have two credit cards green card balance off {$960.00} ( which {$400.00} was being paid, the following two weeks would be an additional {$100.00} ), my other card which was {$350.00} ( with {$35.00} due which was paid that day ) ... .. I received an email that my account is canceled. Called to follow up the young lady XXXX who does not work in headquarters she is currently located in XXXX -states the credit bureau made the decision. Then corrected herself by saying you missed payments .... Which I then explained I have had an issue with the green card because I was misinformed, I was unable to pay total balance, but I am making payments!! I asked for her title to ensure she was a supervisor, which she is not! I also would like to speak with headquarters for action but unable to. I explained that American express is breaking the law, we are currently in different countries, I have not received a far chance to correct my balance!! I still have a payment agreement set up!!

Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I logged online to my American Express Blue Cash card, and there was an offer to the effect of " upgrade your blue cash card to preferred card and spend {$2000.00} in next three months and we will give you a {$250.00} statement credit ''. The upgrade has a {$95.00} annual membership fee. I responded to the offer on that day, and spent more than {$2000.00} within two months.
But I did not see the {$250.00} statement credit. I then chatted online with an American Express customer service member and his supervisor to inquire about the credit. They told me that I had already been given the credit for the same offer in XXXX and was not eligible for the offer again. I counter argued, telling them that there was no way for me to know all the details. More importantly, American should not have made the offer to me the second time. Be that the case, we would not even have this conversation. I also told them that I had tried hard in order to meet the {$2000.00} spending requirements, for example, I used their card but not using credit cards from other issuers even though they offered % 5 cash back rewards.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I received an email regarding my account being unavailable due to a high volume of use within the company, I had been declined for a charge earlier that day note some of the documents are unavailable to me because I am blocked from my account. I had tried to call for 4 days with no luck there phone lines where busy the whole time and I was not getting through, on the 4th day which was XX/XX/2018 I got through to dispute a charge from an atm I had attempted to draw money out of but was declined and charged anyway. The customer service rep told me there where three charges total and being blocked from the account I didn't know any better so I let her dispute them, 3 days after that on XX/XX/2018 I tried to use my card for an {$8.00} purchase and was declined, after calling customer service they informed me that I was permenately shut out of this accounts which I also got an email for at XXXX and that any and all matter should be sent via mail to the consumer relations dept. so I wrote a letter and sent it that day. For the next 8 days I called everyday and wrote 2 more letters asking for my refund check to be issued. Under the circumstances I had {$240.00} left in my main account and {$4000.00} in a set aside account. The {$240.00} was issued and sent I received it today XX/XX/2018 but due to the remaining funds being in a set aside account they had to unlock it at this time it is XX/XX/2018 I called because they had taken a direct deposit on this permentley closed account from the Kentucky revenue dept. for {$720.00} now they have {$4700.00} plus I still had not received the {$240.00} yet so I called and they said that no refund checks had been issued but my account could be reopened and a new card issued so I paid bluebird {$20.00} out of that account to overnight me a new card I have emails for the XXXX tracking and the email that confirms my purchase on Saturday XX/XX/2018. On Tuesday XX/XX/2018 I received the new card I had been trying for 2 day to change the funding source so that I could transfer the money to another account with XXXXXXXX XXXX which was confirmed yesterday XX/XX/2018 I woke up this morning with another email saying my account was premenatly closed. This had been going on for close to a month I cant pay an attorney to fix it cause I live on a fixed income this could severely hurt my financial situation. I just want my money back.

Complaint: American Express responded by demanding 29.99 % interest for six months and sending two inches of " reprints '' of bills of questionable accuracy. While I review these, I have sent the following response : Dear XXXX XXXX : Thank you for your letter. You mention the card-holder agreement. The problem with your frequent changes to the agreement is that you send it in such small print and on such a short piece of paper that it falls away from the statement and is unreadable when retrieved. It can not be that American Express is lacking paper, because you often enclose a full page with a representation of store fronts and the statement about more merchants accepting the card on only one side and on the top three inches of the page!
Your letter informed me that American Express intends to charge me 29.99 % for six months. I had received a letter dated XX/XX/2017, informing me that I would NOT be charged your 30 % interest. I do not agree to pay such an outrageous amount!
The price of a box of crackers has gone from {$1.00} to {$3.00}! The co-payment on medication has gone from {$75.00} to {$500.00}! It is impossible to pay such outrageous interest and still have shelter, food, and medication.
If a consumer goes to a debt-consolidation firm, American Express will receive less that the amount owed, and the consumer will pay more in the long run. If the consumer is forced into bankruptcy, American Express will receive pennies on the dollar!
When I called the payment number on the fifth, I was informed, " No payment is due. '' I paid {$1000.00} you billed me on XX/XX/XXXX. I want all the overcharges of 29.9 % removed from all bills and reflected in the total amount due!

We made a payment and said we would call back when we would know how much we could pay monthly.

XXXX XXXX XXXX notified my XXXX XXXX of the balance due on the credit card and consequently we are facing termination of our contracts. Which we solely depend on to do business.

Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I became unemployed. I continued to keep my accounts with American Express mostly current until I got a new job in XX/XX/XXXX. I started paying down all of my revolving credit at that point. In XXXX, American Express started contacting me about my accounts, which had been open since XXXX.
I called American Express to determine whether any sort of temporary relief could be had. We were terribly impacted by Hurricane Harvey, and our mortgage company, car leasing company and other revolving creditors helped by offering extended terms or delayed payments. American Express offered nothing. American Express further demanded immediate payment in XXXX. I made a partial payment over {$4000.00} in XXXX and promised a more substantial payment in XXXX. American Express continued to increase the amount it demanded as immediate payment.
The first week of XXXX I paid American Express {$5500.00}. They called immediately demanding more payments. I asked for any kind of concession, interest rate, split payments, anything. My offer was flatly refused.
I told American Express that I would then pay off the entire balance owed on all accounts, current and not, and cancel my cards.
As soon as I told American Express that I would cancel my cards, they immediately reported me delinquent to the credit reporting agencies ; I surmise as a way to pressure me to pay off the balance, which I had already promised to do. Before the end of XXXX, I paid off all of my accounts with American Express, more than {$68000.00}.
American Express continued to report derogatory information to the credit bureaus despite my calls. As a result, the credit to my business and my other personal lines of credit were diminished to the point I had less than {$20000.00} in credit available. My FICO score went from the mid 700 's to 620. As of today it rebounded a bit to XXXX. I spoke with American Express again yesterday, but they said their credit department was closed. Obviously they did something because nothing in any other account changed. All of the damage was done by American Express after American Express was paid IN FULL.

Delay in processing application
Complaint: I want to apply for Amex 's Blue Cash Everyday card, yet its website will not allow me to. There is nowhere to print out an application. In order to use its online application, I need to already have an Amex card, which I do not. I want to apply myself and get a hard copy of the completed application, yet there is no way to do this. I should not be forced to call AMEX to apply for a credit card. I should be allowed to complete an application myself for any credit card it advertises. This is not the case.
AMEX engages in false and misleading advertising.

Complaint: - American express card went to collection in XX/XX/XXXX to XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX TX, for the amount of {$1000.00}.
- No late fees were deducted for the first 3 months of collection XX/XX/XXXX Nor this company discuss doing that, for me.
- I agreed to pay {$50.00} a month until it was paid.
- They used a sales pitch to get an American Express Optima card with a {$500.00} limit once the debt was paid. I told them I did not want it and I did not want a lot phone calls as I would pay the debt as stated two lines above.
- They appeared to be using some over aggressive tactics, by means of tone of voice and words. I do not appreciate that.
- On XX/XX/XXXX on or about XXXX eastern standard time : Caller from XXXX called me and said her name was XXXX XXXX, from XXXX XXXX. She said " we are gon na need to some secure some checks, this a 30 day card, so we need to get some checks from you ''. I already pay via bill pay to American Express, as I was originally told I could do. I also said I planned on having the debt paid with 12 months roughly. I told them this XXXX last year ( XXXX ). I then explained to XXXX XXXX, I do not give my checking account information out over the phone. Hence, the reason for Amex directly.
XXXX XXXX also said during the course of the conversation : " Are you getting a an IRS refund? '' That is personal and not any of hers or their business. XXXX XXXX then says " Well we just want to see if you can pay more, now? '' - These are aggressive and unprofessional tactics, a completely disgraceful manner to conduct business. When XXXX XXXX realized I was well aware of my affairs, she quickly said thank you and got off the phone. I do not even know if she really works there or this was spoof call. Either way, if she does, XXXX needs to correct their training deficiencies and enforce quality control.
- Bottom line is they are unprofessional and the above statements reflect that.

Trouble getting a working replacement card
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I faxed American Express XXXX Team, an Government ID, a receipt with temporary card serial number, and my current address. Each time I call customer service they have an excuse as to why they can not process the replacement card for my lost card that has {$100.00} balance. The CSR always tells me the ID is wrong type, or the ID is not clear or the ID is dark. And they also said my address is not acceptable.
I have repeatedly sent fax after fax with a different government ID each time. I have faxed a State college ID, and 2 Veterans ID Cards, all with pictures and personal information.
I sent a fax onXX/XX/XXXX, and one on XX/XX/XXXX.
In my opinion they are practicing fraud. In my opinion they are stealing personal information.
They want all of my private information and do not give me the money that was refunded back to the card from XXXX XXXX XXXX, in XX/XX/XXXX. I demand the money be returned to me immediately.
I have called over and over to try to get my money sent to me.
I have paid for fax services FIVE TIMES.
I have faxed XXXX XXXX at FAX : XXXX and have not received any response from the XXXX.
I am paying for faxing and each time the incompetent XXXX gives me another excuse.
I have told them I do not have any utilities in my name. I gave them my address from a shipping label that is from a package shipped to me.
I am a XXXX veteran and I do not feel this company cares one bit about the customer and has extremely poor service.
I do not have a permanent home. I want the cash money wired to me or mailed to my P.O. Box.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I purchased a face cream at a convention for {$260.00} where XXXX XXXX had a booth. For trying a bit of their product or watching it tried you were issued a free facial at their spa. OnXX/XX/XXXX purchased another product for {$260.00}. That night I tried to use and face and neck broke out in welts, huge red bumps. I photographed, sent to vendor and said I was returning and wanted refund. I mailed via US Post office with tracing number within their specified timelines for refund. Received confirmation of delivery. Vendor contacted for refund. Said package not received. I contacted American Express to dispute charge and sent confirmation that package was delivered. I have sent confirmation 3 times to American Express. Three times the charge was written off and 3 times reinstated. The vendor evidently has kept the package and American Express says if the vendor hasn't received the package they do not have to issue a refund. I am enraged.
