Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: This company : -Does not provide customer contact information -Does not send notifications -Does not notify specifically when your repayment status changes ( e.g., when deferment ends ) If you are late in making payments for the above reasons, the company : - Continues reporting your account as past due EVEN AS YOU MAKE PAYMENTS on time - Continues marking your account as delinquent so that you can never get ahead - Does not provide documentation of past payments - Does not offer payment plans to take care of past due amounts I would also like to emphasize that reaching them is nearly impossible, so you are effectively sending money into a black hole with little verification.

Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: My monthly loan payments have been inconsistently applied to principal and interest -- with the majority being applied to interest ( in some months XXXX % of the payment is applied to interest ) -- over the past several years, even though my loan is a fixed rate, and the payments were made in equal amounts and on approximately the same day of each month. I have requested my loan documents from my lender by telephone and in writing, and I have requested an explanation from my lender by telephone. The lender has not provided the documents or an explanation of the inconsistent application of my payments.

Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: ACS Education Services is refusing to release my loans to another borrower that is consolidating my loans. After contacting ACS numerous times about them sending the info they continue to say the same thing " We 're done with XXXX of your XXXX packets '' and I 've heard this for about 2 months. They had the request to send the info so they could be paid off in XXXX 2016 and after speaking to the new lender today ( XXXX/XXXX/16 ) I was just advised they send information that my loans were paid off already. In the mean time ACS has my loans in default, sent it to a collection agency, and put it on my credit report. I 've NEVER defaulted on my loans and was even struggling to pay them $ XXXX/month but still did it. If anyone looks online they will see the many horror stories about ACS Education Service and I almost feel I 've paid my money to a company that has scammed me the whole time and concerned about the payments that I did make. I 've found a company that is authorized by the Dept of Ed to help with consolidation, lower my payments for all my loans dramatically, and actually give me a length of how long I will have to pay them. I am now in the process of faxing them my bills to prove that I still own ACS and they will help me resolve the issue and hopefully get the funds to them to pay them off.
On another note my other lender sent the information within 2 weeks and were paid in full within 3 weeks.

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: I have recently contacted ACS Education Services to discuss available options regarding my monthly payment. While I am current on my monthly payments I explained my current financial situation and my concern to fulfill my future monthly obligations. Ultimately, I expressed my intentions to be proactive prior to accumulating missed payments in the future then continuing to fall further behind. Each representative had expressed similarly that they can appreciate my effort to reframe from missing future payments, yet there are no additional repayment options available for me. They continued to explain that if I was currently 31 days or more past due other options would be available at that time. If they are capable of offering other payment options after 31 days past due, they certainly can make those same options available to those that are struggling to avoid late payments. Therefore, after different attempts to voice my concern with various representatives, ACS Education Services will still not provide me with an alternative repayment option to avoid missing payments due to my financial situation.
Since graduating in 2013, each of my federal and private student loans has now transferred to repayment status. I have continued to place my federal loans in forbearance in order to afford the private loans and other monthly expenses. After graduation, the income I accumulated from my employment was insufficient to pay for each private student loan I acquired over my collegiate years. Therefore, I was compelled to utilize the brief forbearance period allowed which is no longer available. Over the last few years, I have been blessed to obtain advancements in my career, which have generated increased wages. Even though my income has increased, the payment obligation for each monthly expense and student loan continues to exceed my total monthly income. Currently I receive about XXXX a month after taxes. My total expense which include current student loans being repaid is about XXXX. If I forgo other monthly expenses and limit my grocery/personal budget, the total expenses could be reduced to about XXXX. Even if the forbearance option was available, I would prefer not to delay my obligations. In conclusion, I would greatly benefit from lowering my monthly private student loan payment.

Complaint: For over 4 years, I have been trying to have ACS/XXXX to remove XXXX late delinquencies from all XXXX credit brueaus ( XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX ). Yet, the creditor did n't remove until recently ( XX/XX/XXXX ). I spoke with XXXX XXXX of ACS and he reassured me that he will make sure that the delinquencies are removed as soon as possible. Yet, they are still present on all of the credit bureaus. Even after submitting the documentation to all of the credit bureaus, ACS/XXXX still not honoring their promise to remove the delinquencies. This has caused a major inconvenience with my credit report history.

Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX. I attended University XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX University Online classes XXXX. I graduated XXXX XXXX. If I could go back in time and reconsider I would NOT attend college. For XXXX reasons, the debt that I am left with now is IMPOSSIBLE to pay back in full before I die and the second is that education is NOT recognized in the workforce and it 's useless. I have NOT landed a job to utilize my degree credentials since I 've graduated 6 years ago.
I divorced in XXXX and the loans I took out prior to that were based on my ex-husbands income and now I struggle as a single mom of XXXX kids trying to stay afloat in our expensive economy. I have done forbearance that just got me more interest and higher amounts owed. I then went to repayment by income, I make my small payments as required but I can NOT buy a home so that my payments are smaller than renting. My total debt to income ratio is too high and causes me to have a lower credit score. This student debt is consuming my every chance in life to succeed as a mother and a working citizen.
I am just asking for some help. Student loans are NOT feasible for anyone 's future. I have to say if I could give back my degrees in exchange for my debt relief I would in a heartbeat. I want to ask a couple of questions, if someone is unable to pay back their student loans and go into forbearance or loan deferment status 's, why on earth would they be charged additional fees on top of what they are currently unable to pay? Loan establishments are greedy and nobody truly cares about our country success! This is a manipulative vicious cycle that sets us up those who are actually trying to make a difference in our own lives as well as others for complete FAILURE.
NOW, I am against college or furthering knowledge beyond high school with this as my own personal experience from trying to do the right thing in life and show my kids the importance of higher education. I have to have XXXX jobs just to make ends meet providing a life for me and my kids barely making XXXX a year.
Is there anything I qualify for that I am not aware of to get some assistance in student loan debt relief? I am at the last point here, I do n't want to struggle any longer I 'm not asking to be rich, I am asking for any help in eliminating some or all of my student debt if at all possible. Like I said before I 'll give back my degrees as they are no longer of importance to me.
Also student loans are confusing, I believe I have both federal and private loans totally over {$64000.00} only to walk away with an XXXX and XXXX that are not acknowledged for me to get a job. I 'd appreciate any correspondence regarding my issues and pray to XXXX that I 'm taking seriously and receive some sort of assistance in digging out of underneath this impossible student debt.

IN ADDITION ACS XXXX XXXX HAD REPORTED A DELINQUENCY IN ERROR OVER 6 YEARS AGO THAT IS STILL SHOWING IN MY CREDIT FILE AFTER MULTIPLE DISPUTES THAT HAVE NOT RECTIFIED THE MATTER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND EVERYTHING THAT THE CFPB IS DOING TO HELP REMOVE FRAUDULENT PRACTICES FROM THE SYSTEMS YOU OVERSEE.

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: I have had student loans for approximately ten years with ACS as the loan servicer. I have had multiple issues with this company. They took my original loan amount and split it into XXXX loans. Now my credit report gets double affected when I have issues with their company. The customer service people do not speak XXXX well therefore, every call is around 1 hour long. They have to put me on hold for every question I have so they can discuss the issue with their manager. As soon as I was notified of my forbearance ending, I mailed in an IBR application on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. I received no response as of XXXX XXXX. I called to see why no response and they stated that I had n't sent in the required documents. I had sent in my XXXX tax returns with the application. They stated that I needed to send in my XXXX tax returns. This unnecessary delay caused my IBR application to be approved on XXXX XXXX, XXXX while my forbearance had ended XXXX XXXX, XXXX. The month of XXXX has been billed at the original amount of {$380.00} and {$400.00}, too large for me to pay. I am able to pay the amounts approved of {$93.00} and {$100.00} but ACS is expecting me to pay the XXXX payment of {$780.00} ( XXXX loans which were originally XXXX ) before I can pay on the lower, more affordable amounts. ACS has done this multiple times over the years : horrible customer service, lack of responses to my applications until I call in, they have lost multiple forms I sent in over the years and now my credit has suffered tremendously due to this company I do not want to do business with. My student loans were at {$50000.00} 7 years ago, now they are at more than {$85000.00}. How can I get help with this account and have the IBR amount effective as of XXXX XXXX, XXXX so I can afford these payments? Also, how can I get XXXX single account instead of XXXX? I would like to refinance with another servicer as soon as possible.
Thanks, XXXX XXXX

Can't temporarily postpone payments
Complaint: I enrolled in XXXX classes in XXXX of XXXX. I completed the course XXXX XXXX. When you are are enrolled at least half time your student loan status us supposed to be in a deferment status. When I started class my payments were not due.after months of receiving late notices I contacted the lender. They said they were n't aware I was a student, that my school was n't is n't the system.they sent the documentation that needed to be filled out and signed by my instructor. I had it all completely filled out as instructed, signed, and returned. I was denied the student deferment and my account is still in a late status. I do not see how this is at a fair. I 'm already paying triple the amount for an XXXX XXXX through this lender and ca n't afford the loan as it is. I was very young when I signed for this loan, not knowing my options. I 'm XXXX now paying for the misguided XXXX old that signed a loan thinking I would make such a great living and pay this loan off in no time! The least they can do is work with you when you are furthering your education.

Talked to a third party about my debt
Complaint: I have a student loan that was cosigned by my grandfather. XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX, 2015 apparently was attempting to contact one of us reference this loan. The person representing this company left the following voicemail on my parents phone : " Hi this message is intended for XXXX XXXX XXXX or XXXX XXXX XXXX. If you are not XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX please hang up. This is XXXX calling from XXXX XXXX. Communication is from a debt collector. This is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose. I need a return phone call back today. My number is XXXX. Refer to file number XXXX. '' Someone from XXXX XXXX had spoken to my grandfather around XX/XX/XXXX. Apparently the company did not like the information my grandfather gave them so they continue to call looking for me.
My complaint is does n't the voice mail violate the FDCP Act? It is my understanding that according to the act they can communicate with a third party by advising who they are and obtain location information. It is also my understanding they ca n't advise they are a debt collector and that I owe a debt.

Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: I have XXXX loan from my time at college, a Federal Perkins loan, being serviced by ACS Education Services. Six months ago I changed main banks. I attempted to change the bank that ACS Education Services auto-withdraws from. I received no receipt not acknowledgement at the end of the 7 days they state is required to process the bank change. I in fact received no communication whatsoever. I checked the account and saw that they had assessed a late fee and listed the payment as failed, and had not sent any notification about the failed payment or late fee. I paid manually, using their ExpressPay system, using the same exact information that I had registered as my main bank account for autopay. I then re-filled the autobillpay form, thinking it might have been a mistake ( I would like to add that they do not, as every other company I have interacted with would do, perform a bank account validation withdraw/deposit ). Next quarter I had the same issue, except I was notified by a late payment status on my credit card. Again, I received no communication. When I contacted the company ( who was unavailable by phone ) by email, and explained that I have n't had a late payment in seven years and would like them to withdraw the late payment from my credit status, they refused, and stated without any presentable evidence that I was wrong. At no point in time did they offer any assistance in resolving the issue, nor any advice ( despite an explicit request ) for a method to confirm that the account was properly set up. Late payments aside, I do n't understand why they would seek to damage my credit instead of simply working to ensure the account is properly set up. A person 's credit rating is important and I have done nothing that would reflect willful negligence.

Having problems with customer service
Complaint: Enrolled in paperless billing. Was not billed nor called. Was only notified when my payment was 60 days past due. Brought account current immediately ; reported as delinquent to credit bureau one month later. Second issue with this loan servicer in one year. Difficult to reach the right people to speak with. Reps insist they can help and refuse to place you on the line with a supervisor. Will claim they spoke with one on your behalf. Should have paid closer attention when doing my research about ACS Education. My other loans are serviced by XXXX XXXX never had a problem.
