Complaint: Private student loan with Sallie Mae, the amount of payments are the same amount of my Che k. My mother and I have talked with a man by the name of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. My parents are co-signers and retired he is trying to make them pay what my check wo n't cover. I am working and can not the amount of XXXX month after car insurance phone medicine and living expenses. He is very nasty I am paying on my student loans but not original amount XXXX a month XXXX XXXX said they do n't work with lowering payments and payment plans. I just want to pay what my little job afford me to pay. He did not put down living expenses of anything else, how can the XXXX sit by and let these cold hearted stay in business.

Complaint: I cosigned for a private student loan for XXXX my kids with Sallie Mae. Since she graduated, Sallie Mae calls my cell phone and work phone several times a day about paying this loan off. I have asked them to not contact me by phone and only in writing, but the calls continue. I have received no documentation through the mail, only this constant barrage of calls. They are attempting to harass me into paying them even though I just cosigned the loan.

They have repeatedly told me that they could not, I told them how much I make and I started work over two months ago they were nasty and told me to get another job. Complaint: I have student loans with Sallie Mae. I am still in school and while I it has taken far longer than I ever hoped, I have never left school. I have taken a couple term breaks of a month or two, but have never stopped attending. Sallie Mae will not stop calling even when I upload documents, speak with customer service agents, refer them to the clearing house. They just keep calling and emailing demanding payment. When I speak with a customer service person they inform me the calls are automated and will not stop until I bring my account current. Why are they allowed to dog people none stop and will not accept emails, only uploaded forms or phone calls that they keep saying I my school info is not available to them? Surely there has to be some for of protection from this type of harassment. The stress is sending me crazy. do n't they think if I could have finished school and repaying my loans I would have? I need to help to get these dogs off my back so I can focus instead of the constant hounding for payment.

Complaint: I was told by my son 's school that we did n't qualify for a federal loan, so we got a private loan. He 's our only son ; never gave us an ounce of trouble, wanted to go to college and my husband and I did whatever it took to get him a college education. By XXXX grace, our son graduated XXXX 2015. My husband and I co-signed on the loans and the total amount that we are asked to pay back each month for XXXX loans is over {$1800.00} a month. That 's more than I make a month. There 's no way we can pay that much each month even if we sold our XXXX bedroom home and lived in a box. I 'm currently in deferment with Sallie Mae but the days are coming fast and they 'll be calling demanding the {$1800.00}. From what we 've heard, we 'll be paying Sallie Mae the rest of our lives, so all I want them to do is significantly decrease the monthly payment, making it affordable for us. We have every intention of paying the {$180000.00} ( yes you read correctly ) {$180000.00} for a show production degree that only pays $ XXXX/hr for my son. We just need help in getting the {$1800.00} reduced. Thank you!

Complaint: I was volunteering overseas for several months, when I came back to the states I found that my account was past due. I contacted Sallie Mae inquiring about my repayment options, informing them that I 'm unemployed but trying to find money from relatives to help pay it off. I was also trying to help get access to my account online but they kept insisting that I have to talk to them and would n't help me access my account on the website so I could see my account information. As of this writing the representatives from Sallie Mae have told them there is no way to settle my account, and they did not help me get access to my account on the website. I feel as if they 're preventing me from accessing the information I need to make the best decision for paying my account off.

Complaint: I have just entered repayment for my student loans, both sallie mae and XXXX, paid to XXXX college and XXXX university. I 'm a graduate XXXX and am a life long PA resident. I am making under {$26000.00} annually and am due to give birth in XX/XX/2016. With added medical bills, from pregnancy and a preexisting condition, and day to day bills, I contacted my lenders to work out lower monthly payments of some sort. Sallie Mae informed me their extended repayment program would n't change my payments and they could not help me any further. Now every time I call them they are brash and offended when I ask about any programs they offer besides deferment. XXXX, I have called many many times, filed a complaint on this site before and followed all the paper work trails they have asked me to. I did this in the hope of getting income based repayments, but the last time I called I was actually told they could n't lower my $ XXXX monthly payments a lot and that " because I have n't missed any payments 'they ' have no other options for me at this time. '' As a responsible adult I 'm trying to work with them and even did financial statements for them, showing I have an extra {$10.00} a month and my cosigner has very little extra income as well. I am trying to work in their rules but I 'm simply not able to pay and neither is the cosigner, and after my forbearance has ended my only option according to them is to stop paying. The fact that my original lender for all my loans, sallie mae, specifically told me that I could get income based repayments after graduation is most annoying part.

Complaint: I am asking your office to look into the business practices and lack of information given by Sallie Mae in regards to filling out online forms for student loans. I would like your help in getting Sallie Mae to even really listen to me about how I feel their company wrongly signed us ( my daughter and me as cosigner ) up for 10 % interest on our student loan when we were under the impression that it would be 6 %. XXXX attempt for a loan for XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX tried again for XXXX. XXXX XXXX, they said she needed a co-signer. XXXX XXXX tired again for just XXXX. Denied. She needs a co-signer. XXXX XXXX, tired again and did state I would co-sign and filled out application. XXXX XXXX - they sent an email stating more information was required. XXXX? Had to call Sallie Mae as nothing would go through after several days of attempts to fill out a loan application. The man I talked to said there were several open loan applications that were approved but none of them had been signed. The information regarding interest and payment was difficult to get and when I did get to it I was not able to print it from the web page. During each successive attempt the interest rate of the loan would differ. Rates from XXXX to 10 % were shown. After being told by the man on the phone that several loans were open I asked him to close out the unneeded loan applications. I was under the impression that the lowest rate I had been offered was the loan application I was proceeding with. In reality the highest rate loan application was the XXXX the man on the phone kept open. Even though the master promissory note was electronically signed, seeing the actual note was difficult to manipulate via the web page and difficult to understand. I was under the impression that I was signing for a 6 % interest loan. There is no copy of the Master Promissory Note in my account at Sallie Mae. There are a few other documents, but no MPN. Information emailed was not direct disclosure. I would be prompted to open a hyperlink that required signing into the web site. After several failed attempts I was able to do so, but my loan number had been changed. After receiving notice to pay my first installment I noticed that I was charged 10.25 % interest. At that point I tried calling the XXXX number when I was available to make the call. The calling center is often closed by the time I was able to call. When I was available to make the call I would be put on hold for hours on end. This is no joke. I would set the phone on my shoulder and listen to the repeated music and announcement while I did other things on line. After a so long on the phone I would either be disconnected or have to give up the call wait. After finally getting a live person XXXX/XXXX/14, I told them on the problem with the interest rate. They transferred me to XXXX id # XXXX and we spoke for quite a while but no definitive answers were given and no hope of rectifying the interest rate was given. At best she said an investigation would be made. My irritation is as follows : Difficult to navigate and understand web site, non-disclosure of information on the master promissory note in that is/was not easy to read and would not print off the web page, untrustworthy, unhelpful and uncooperative Sallie Mae employees, account information that the Sallie Mae company changes and makes difficult being able to see one 's own account, emails that require signing into the web site to see what is being corresponded, making that correspondence difficult to find. Complaint: I am a XXXX returning to college. I am waiting to see what my federal loans will be for this semester. My family and I have been harrassed with insessant phone calls by Sallie Mae to begin making monthly payments, starting at {$420.00}. I am employed part-time and can not afford this. When I expressed that I could n't afford monthly payments, they offered defferement for {$100.00}. When the agreed date for the payment passed, they claimed they did not recieve the payment. I now owe {$100.00} plus the $ XXXX monthly payment to be allowed defferment again. I can not afford to pay this. Speaking on the phone again, they threatened to take the loan to their collections agency. They resorted to using scare tactics in telling me they dont know how I 'll get more loans for school once they report me. They expressed they did not care if it threatened my future academic career. They are unwilling to work with me so I can continue my education. The original loan amount from Sallie Mae was XXXX. With interest, it is exceeding XXXX. I need help addressing this debt and with negotiating fair and just payment options with this loan while I have extremely low income.

Complaint: The HARASS me everyday for money!!! I can not make the minumum payments, and they REFUSE to take anything lower. Its all or nothing with these clowns!!! I was lied too when i went to school, and have been THREATENED multiple times by these cowards via the phone. I HATE THEM! They will take your last penny and make sure you have no food to eat, and think everyone has a money tree in their yard! WOW, what a horrible company to work for. I would rather be homeless than work for these cowardly money sucking low lifes. I would have never went to college if I would have known this XXXX would happen, hows that make you feel!?!? They just refuse to help, refuse to let you pay back your loan based on what you make. They are no help, theyre horrible humans on the phone, and I wish nothing but the worst for them. Complaint: We ( my son & I - as co-signer ) have XXXX loans w/ Sallie Mae XXXX Last month - they took the XXXX payments sent ( XXXX check for each loan ) and applied them both to the same loan. In their system - this triggered a 'Late Payment ' on the XXXX loan that received 'no payment ' and started an incessant series of phone calls to both my son & I. Their error was pointed out to them within a week and - despite the promise of the error being corrected on their end.. the phone calls kept coming ( XXXX - XXXX calls per day.. to both of us! ) Two weeks later.. we were still getting the calls and the payment error ( that THEY made ) had still not been corrected. I call again ( I 've now been on the phone with these people for over an hour ) and I finally get an assurance that the error will be will fixed within 24 hours ~and~ that the calls will stop. The error is fixed ( although it takes 3 days to do so ) - but the calls continue until their system shows the payment corrected. Now - just a week after THAT issue is cleared - I just found out that they did the same thing to the most recent payment ( s ) ~and~ I was charged a 'late fee ' on the account that THEY screwed up last month! I am now faced with, yet another, unending series of calls and - as I told them during the last phone call.. I consider these calls to be Harassment! Aside from filing a complaint with ConsumerFinance.gov - do I have any legal recourse against them?
