Complaint: I was a co-signer on a Sallie Mae student loan. The primary borrower filed bankruptcy and ceased payments. I was not notified by the creditor that payments were late until AFTER the account went to collections. No voicemail 's, emails, or snail mail until after my near perfect credit score was damaged to the tune of XXXX points. Sallie Mae claims their fallible computer system shows notices were sent. They sent them to me for the first time as part of a XXXX complaint response at which point I confirmed I never received them the first time. Sallie Mae claims that removing this negative mark from my credit report is " illegal '' and a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting act, claiming they have no discretion to work with credit agencies to resolve this matter.

Complaint: Sallie Mae harrasses people to no end. I have paid my student loan in full and yet they have continued to call me and my cosigner. I was a few days late, but I paid my entire XXXX bill instead of the minimum. They have continued to call every hour on the hour today. I have had 5 calls since I paid. I have called and they say there is nothing they can do. They need to update their systems so that after you pay you stop getting calls from them. This is harassment of my cosigner and I and I am considering a lawsuit.

Complaint: I have recently paid of my loan to Sallie Mae. In the process of doing so I ended up with a credit. I called to receive my credit and have my account closed. I was told that it had to go through a billing cycle and the check would be mailed and account closed at that time. They told me it would be in the beginning of XXXX. Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: I have XXXX loans ( we 'll call them the " XXXX '' and " XXXX '' loans ) with Sallie Mae currently- they 're under the same account, but for XXXX different school years. The XXXX loans have their own cosigners, XXXX who have been making monthly payments on their respective loans. We do not use Sallie Mae 's automatic Bill Pay option, as the cosigners would rather have control of the flow of payments through their own banks. Over the past several months, whenever a check was sent to Sallie Mae to pay for the XXXX loan, it was always allocated to the XXXX loan, instead. As a result, my XXXX cosigner and I were notified that a payment was overdue. I 've called them many times over the past months to reallocate these payments, and it would take days for the changes to take effect. Often in the meantime, it meant that a late fee would be charged to the account, never mind that the payment had actually been received. In late XXXX, I had come to find out this had happened again when Sallie Mae was asking for the upcoming XXXX payment. I called Sallie Mae to figure out what was going on and reassign payments ( again! ). I had then found out that the XXXX loan has an overflow account- money that was sent to pay for the XXXX loan that has exceeded the scheduled payments due. I then asked that enough money be taken out of the overflow account to pay for any outstanding payments ( XXXX and XXXX payments ) for the XXXX loan, and I was told it would be done. Two weeks later, I was still receiving notices of overdue payments. Calling them back ( AGAIN! ), I 'd found out that the " work order did n't go through '' - they could n't tell me why. I asked them to start over, once again taking enough money out of the XXXX overflow account to pay for any outstanding payments XXXX XXXX and XXXX payments ) for the XXXX loan, and they said they would do it. For the next ten days, the balance due on the XXXX loan kept fluctuating- I was told this was to be expected because of the work order. I have just finished looking at my loan summary on Sallie Mae 's website ( it is now the beginning of XXXX ), and have been told that, alongside the payment due for XXXX, there is still (!? ) a past due amount on the XXXX loan- and I have once again been charged a late fee. I do n't understand what 's going on with this loan anymore. Over the past several months, every time I 've called, each representative gave me different answers to the same questions. I 'm pretty sure at one point, a supervisor outright lied to me about the details of my account ( a representative 's description of my account did not match the supervisor 's, despite them reading the same notes left on my account ). I am still in school, in a very work-intensive program, and do not have the time nor energy to keep playing this game with Sallie Mae. Goodness knows how this affects my credit score, or the credit scores of my cosigners! This has gotten beyond ridiculous.

Complaint: I received a loan from Sallie Mae XX/XX/2016 to help pay for my schooling at XXXX XXXX University in Alabama. The loan amount was for {$10000.00}. I am the primary on the loan and my grandmother is the cosigner. For the past three months ( starting XX/XX/2016 ), Sallie Mae has been hounding my grandmother and myself to start paying the interest on the loan. I told them that I am still a fulltime student at XXXX and can not make payments right now because I do not work. I told them that I would like to defer the payments until I graduated. I was told that I did not make that choice at the beginning of applying for the loan ; so I filled out a deferment form and faxed it to Sallie Mae. The calls stopped for a week, and then started right back. They were calling my grandmother five and six times a day asking her for money. My grandmother told them to stop calling and that we already faxed in the Deferment Form to Sallie Mae, however, each time se spoke with them, they gave her a different explanation as to why they still were calling and why the Deferment Form was no good. The customer service representatives for Sallie Mae, as well as the Managers my grandmother and I spoke with were rude and aggressive. My grandmother is XXXX years old and they were very disrespectful to her. I have an Aunt that is a debt collections attorney and she even spoke with Sallie Mae asking what exactly was the issue with accepting the Deferment Form ; however, when Sallie Mae found out she was an attorney, they told her that everything was fine and they would update my account to show that the Deferment Form was received and to stop calling. However, the calls started again a week after that phone call and are still continuing to this day ... even after my grandmother told Sallie Mae to stop calling and correspond with her only through mail documents.

Complaint: i have XXXX total loans from sallie mae. I made my 2 first months payments and i realized it way to high for me to afford. i made countless attempts over the phone to get them to help me make reasonable payments. they are very hard to speak to, never get the job done. i payed to be in forbearance so i can save up to be able to pay off the monthly loan payments which equal out close to a {$1000.00} a month. i barely make XXXX a year. they made me pay {$50.00} per loan to enroll me into forbearance. Then a few days after they started calling me for payments and they said sorry we made an error. They re read the terms and made me accept and them said they will mail me a typed letter telling me I am in forbearance from XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX and my payments will resume in XX/XX/XXXX. then letter stated otherwise saying the forbearance term is from XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX. I called them to correct it because i made my XX/XX/XXXX payment and agreed to a XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX in forbearance. They said do n't worry we got you covered. a few days after they called and said we cant enroll you in forbearance in all XXXX loans. The rep had made a mistake. So basically, they are n't making any efforts to resolve this issue and help me make my affordable monthly payments. please help me. im a student with $ XXXX in loans and i want to do my part in paying but i ca n't afford what they want from me.

Complaint: My student loan is with Sallie Mae. I have made several payments on this private loan. But, recently I have not been able to make payments due to unemployment and family changes. Now, Sallie Mae is harrasing mu family memebers, immediate and other relatives. It is a total disaster. My federal loan is under forebearance because I will go XXXX in XXXX 2016.
