Complaint: I am XXXX XXXX - filing this complaint for my XXXX, XXXX XXXX. She appears to have been involved in some predatory banking with Santander Bank, N.A., XXXX. She is currently XXXX years old, was given a line of credit of {$100000.00} in XXXX on a home that was not worth that much, but my main concern is that she only had {$630.00} coming in via SSI with no other means of repayment. I do not think she understood that this had to be paid back, possibly she thought it was a " reverse mortgage ''. Plus already had a line of credit from XX/XX/XXXX with her Mother who has been deceased since XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$10000.00}. She has given my sister and I power of attorney so we can assist with this matter. My grandparents built this home in XX/XX/XXXX and had it paid off XX/XX/XXXX. I do not understand how she qualified for these monies. Now the bank wants us to put the property up for sale before they will foreclose. Complaint: due to the Bank checking on fraud ( which I understand ) they denied a transaction at a local ATM due to me being out of state. ( again which I understand ) I called the bank and although in a public place require me to give my social to access the account. I asked if there is any other way and they refused to help me. I then requested a manager and they repeatedly put me on hold and then the same person gets on the phone and even though I explained to her earlier that I am XXXX miles from a branch she says they will not help me and I need to go to the Branch. After asking for the manager again and waiting on hold almost 20 minutes she hangs up on me. Can someone please help me. It 's my money and they are holding it hostage.

Complaint: On my most recent account statement, Santander charged me a {$3.00} " paper statement fee. '' I had not been notified that I would be charged for receiving my checking account statements via XXXX Mail. Not only was the fee a surprise, but it is also unjustified because the price of printing and postage does not add up to {$3.00}. Nevertheless, I complied with Santander 's desire and signed up for online statements. Then I asked Santander to reverse the {$3.00} fee in light of lack of notice. To date, Santander has not reversed the fee.

Complaint: Upon having my debit card rejected when attempting to purchase a coffee, I checked my account statement online which read $ XXXX. A check had been deducted from my account for {$40000.00}. I suspected check fraud, called Santander and was instructed to proceed to a branch. While at the branch, the tellers and I deduced that an ATM error misread my check for {$40.00} and, unfortunately, nothing could be done. I demanded that this be resolved as soon as possible as I needed gas to return home but was told that the check had to be cleared before any action could be taken. This could take up to 2 business days. I asked how this amount could be automatically subtracted from my account with no alert, whether electronically or by phone and the tellers could not provide a sufficient answer. The teller then advised that I should have a credit card as a back-up for gas and I should have downloaded the Santander app. The Santander app would have alerted as soon as the check was deducted from my account. The teller further indicated that if I had acted sooner, ie. in the morning vs. afternoon, this problem could have been averted. It has now been 24 hours and I still do not have access to my funds and my account remains to be $ XXXX.
