Complaint: Santander Bank held my deposit even after the funds cleared the bank on which the funds were drawn ( which was my business account with XXXX ). As a result the payment of my mortgage with Santandar will be late. I expect Santander to charge me a late fee and may report my late payment to the credit agencies. I complained about the impending late fee and the credit agency report to a customer service supervisor, XXXX, at the Santander phone center in Rhode Island. XXXX said that Santander 's policy is to hold deposits up to 4 business days before crediting the money to the depositors account even if the funds have cleared the source bank account. ( XXXX refused to give her last name. ) The deposit to Santander was made XX/XX/2017 and cleared XXXX XX/XX/2017. The mortgage is due XX/XX/2017. On XX/XX/2017 the on-line Standander statement reported that the funds to make the mortgage payment were " unavailable. ''

Complaint: This is a frequent reoccurring problem with the bank I use. Availability of funds. My recent deposit was made on XX/XX/2017, the deposit posted XX/XX/2017 the on XX/XX/2017, XXXX of a XXXX deposit was added to my account. I have been with this bank, formerly Soverign Bank, for fifteen years. In the past two years with holding funds to my account are a monthly event and I get monthly overdraft fees in the XXXX 's range. The visual posting of my account is deceiving as well. The checks that I deposit are not personal checks written to me rather bank checks from my clients all in the USA. I am a common woman, with a XXXX, my funds are limited and I live day to day. Clearly I will find another bank. I feel that the practices of Santander Bank holding my funds for days is that of thievery. They, Santander have immediate access to my money, we are in a lighting flash technology era, I know they use my money for a period of time to make more money for the bank and with my additional overdraft fees I am truly being robbed. A two day hold on personal accounts is only wrong and the people who have the least money get hit the hardest.

Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, Ma XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX To whom it may concern : Around XXXX, XXXX, I went to the branch in revere to opt-out my account to prevent incoming charges without my consent, unfortunately Santander bank, did not obey my request and they kept paying items without my consent. I previously sent a complain to you guys ( CFPB ) in reference to the violation and fraud that this bank is doing with the customers, but you did not take action of whatsoever with the bank.
On XXXX XXXX 2016, I called again and I was assisted by a lady name XXXX and I asked her to please opt-out my account from incurring charges without having available fund to cover. She states it that my request will be in effect in the same day. To my surprise, again they did not comply with my request and they keep paying the bills without having available funds to cover them. These charges again were done intentionally just charge me over draft and sustained fees to profit themselves illegally. Within matters of 6 months, I have paid without my consent around {$930.00} just in feeds putting myself in a deficit in a monthly basics.
These irregulating happens because you guys ( CFPB ) are not doing your job to protect customers from banks like Santander bank. They actually pick and choose what to do with the customers, they can pay charges without consent or they can stop paying charges without consent just to profit themselves. I requested long time ago to be opt-out from paying charges without having available funds, but my request was ignored and Federal Consumer Protection Bureau does not do anything to protect customers.
Enough is enough and I want all my overdraft and sustained fees to be refunded to my account as soon as possible and I want Santander bank to complied with my request permanently.
Please Consumer Federal Protection Bureau, act and protect your customers from banks that abuse the law under the table.
FYI, I want you guys to investigate this bank not to send the complaint and received a response from them which will lead to nothing and they will keep doing the same. ( stealing money from customers ) Sincerely, XXXX XXXX, Your customer..

I fulfilled the requirements but did n't get the bonus because my account was closed on XXXX XXXX. According to the bank the account was closed because they did n't receive my signature card. I did send them the signature card and am not sure why they have n't received it. In addition, they did n't not notify me prior to closing my account resulting in some of my bill payments getting reversed costing me in fees.

Complaint: I have a mortgage on a home with Santander Bank. The mortgage is for {$160000.00}. The mortgage was originally issues by a small local bank called XXXX. The property is in XXXX, XXXX.
The original mortgage was an " interest only " mortgage. Several years ago the XXXX Bank was taken over by Santander and I was suddenly a Santander customer.
My monthly payment had been roughly {$1200.00} a month.
Last month I received a statement from Santander. I immediately noticed that my monthly payment had more than doubled.
My issue is as follows : Santander gave me NO NOTICE that the " interest only phase '' of my mortgage was about to end. So this new monthly statement came as a complete shock to me. I know that other banks send out multiple letters to their customers -- -starting a year in advance -- -advising/informing the customer that their payments are about to " balloon '' -- - I received nothing to that effect from Santander. If I had known this was going to happen I would have attempted to modify/refinance my mortgage.
When I call Santander I am unable to get anyone on the phone who can address this -- -All they do is ask for payment. I will loose my home because I can not afford the increase. Santander, like other banks, must in some way be REQUIRED TO NOTIFY its customers if the nature of a mortgage is about to RADICALLY CHANGE. Can you please help me deal with Santander. They seem oblivious to this issue and their part in it.

Complaint: We were notified through a general notice sent by postal mail from Santander Bank that starting in XXXX, we would be charged a {$3.00} paper statement fee starting XXXX XXXX, 2017. This fee will be charged on the first business day following the statement period date. To avoid this fee, we will need to turn off paper statements through Online Banking and to do so individually for each account. The letter acknowledges that the change is easier for some than others and that this is being done for environmental reasons. We have contacted bank representatives at local branches and by phone several times indicating that this is an inconvenience for us and makes it difficult to review charges ( allowing the possibility of additional fees to go unnoticed ). We also noted the equity and access issues, particularly for individuals who do not have easy internet access. Each representative and supervisor categorically stated that they could not override the paper statement fee at an individual level. I understand that this fee applies only to our personal account, and not the business ones which shows inconsistency between accounts. It is my understanding by reviewing relevant online guidelines and reaching out to several state and federal agencies that national banks are required to provide periodic statements if electronic fund transfers can be made to or from the checking, savings, money market, or NOW account. We are concerned that the paper statement service fee represents a potentially deceptive, unfair, and inequitable banking practice and that such a charge violates our rights as consumers. We would like this issue to be investigated not only for our family as account holders, but for all account holders who may prefer to maintain paper statements at no additional fee.
