Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Problem with personal statement of dispute
Complaint: I opened my NAVIENT account on XX/XX/XXXX when I attended XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.XXXX, XXXX and XXXX of XXXX I was late with payments, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, I arranged scheduled payments of {$81.00} to be withdrawal from my bank account on the XXXX day of each month. Since arranging this my account has been a great standing until last month. I was informed by XXXX that my credit scored dropped 8 points due to late payments on my Navient account. When I called Navient they informed me that I was late on payments in XXXX. I found this information very confusing. I'm confused why they are hitting my credit after six years of great standing on my payments. When I asked the Navient rep to transfer me to a supervisor, I was told there was nothing more I could do to resolve this issue. The rep then reminded me of when I opened the account and the months I was late. But them reporting late payments after six years doesn't make sense at all. I hope you are able to resolve this issue. I'm not sure how my dispute was settle by XXXX because my credit score has not gained its 8 points back.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Why are you all allowing Navient to get away with ruining so many people 's financial futures? Have you not looked at the complaints, which basically tell the same story -- that this company has no business handling loans, or even being allowed to operate? I have complained before, to no avail, about how my loans were handled. Number one, they called my employer back when I worked for XXXX several years ago, something I had never told them was okay to do. Then, when I began paying them {$210.00} a month after being told for MONTHS that I HAD to pay {$1200.00} ( the first request for that ludicrous payment was made not even a MONTH after I graduated when I was only making {$11.00} ), I ASSUMED that my payments were being split up between my multiple accounts. I AM STILL WAITING for someone to explain to me how ANY of those loans went into default. The only conclusion I can draw is that my payments were NOT being applied as they were supposed to. Not only that, the balance NEVER WENT DOWN. Now I'm getting sued left and right after asking for HELP. I don't understand how this can continue to happen. I was NEVER offered IBR, I was told I had used up the ONE forbearance I was allowed, etc. This is crazy!

Debt was paid
Complaint: Last year I called to have the delinquent status removed from my credit report since my student loans were consolidated to another lender but Sallie Mae is still reporting it on my credit as being delinquent, and this was an account from 2005 that I have consolidated. Can you please help me to remove this delinquent status off of my credit because Im in the purchase of trying to purchase a house and different lender that check my credit for a home mortgage or credit increase are stating that I have serious delinquency on my credit but that was from then that is closed.

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I had contacted Navient to change the loan type to a graduated interest 30 year loan. At the time, I was told that it didn't make sense to consolidate my loans, because I'd essentially be paying the same amount every month regardless. Additionally, I was informed that the loan qualified for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. I inquired about this since I was XXXX at the XXXX University of XXXX XXXX as an XXXX, and was working full time at the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX/XXXX ( XXXX ). Three years later, in XX/XX/XXXX, I attended a financial health workshop during the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX 's XXXX XXXX conference. At that time, I was informed by the facilitator that my loan in fact DID NOT qualify for the the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. I was provided information regarding which loan types qualified, the need to have all of the loans consolidated, and that I needed to certify with my HR department at XXXX of my full time status every year for 10 years, and needed to make 120 on time payments. As a result, I paid on loans for three years without it counting toward the 10 year period for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Early last year, I consolidated my loans. However, it appears that the amount of the consolidation is more than what my total amount of loans were. I only recently learned that New York State has joined a class action suit along with XXXX against Navient, and hope to be part of that suit. In the interim, I'm hereby lodging a formal complaint against Navient and its mishandling of student loans and providing false information to borrowers.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Despite submitting the correct paperwork on time in XX/XX/2018 I kept getting emails from loan servicer Navient that my IDR application was denied. Then a few days later I get emails saying that it was and a few days later that it was denied again. I called the company and the problem seemed to be resolved. However, XX/XX/2018 I am beginning to get IDR approval notices and a notvei thatI need to submit my IDR application by XX/XX/2018. Since the confusion with the IDR began I have also started to receive late payment notifications, despite my being enrolled in the autopay plan. The autopay system is supposed to automatically deduct a minimum of the full amount due. So, I am utterly confused as to why Navient 's system is deducting less than the minimum due. I am afraid that this company will end up ruining my credit because they can not get their system to function correctly and/or if the dysfunction is deliberate to scam customers for late payment fees. I have spoken with customer service twice ( once in XXXX and once in XXXX ) on the phone since this issue began and both times ( took about a hour each time ), I was assured the problem was solved. Now in XXXX here I am again with the exact same problems that I have been dealing with since XXXX.

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX ny was closed down, due to law suits against them. Unfortunately anyone whom attended before XXXX had to continue to pay their school loans. Anyone currently attending at the time, loans were forgiven. I lost my job at the time and was married. I called navient to lower my payments enough where I could make minimum payments however they denied me a income driven repayment plan or any plan. Instead they offered loan forbearance. Letting me accure interest. Since I had no choice and they gave me no other options or alternatives, nothing to help me just forbearance. I started off with a {$32000.00} loan now {$37000.00} loan and I've been paying since XXXX now its XXXX. Im complaining about how the school has never given me options and continue to not give any other options til this day. Their exact words " you've exhausted all your options ''.

Communication tactics

Debt collection: Private student loan debt

You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Complaint: I'm resubmitting this complaint because you have not investigated but provided a canned answer 1 ) THE CALL I RECEIVED WAS NOT ABOUT MY LOAN 2 ) STOP CALLING ME ABOUT A LOAN THAT IS NOT MINE 2 ) STOP CALLING ME AT THE NUMBER YOU CALLED FOR ANY REASON. As you know, if a consumer says, " stopped calling me '' you have to stop, and again, you were not contacting me about my loan. In your response you said my loan ( yes I have a loan with you, but again, the call WAS NOT ABOUT MY LOAN ) is past due - IS NOT ACCURATE. Again, after using abusive language your representative determined that she called the wrong person. Investigate this and do not provide me with another canned answer. Here is the original complaint. -- -- -- On XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX I received calls from Navient to my business line. I returned the call on XX/XX/XXXX and realized It was Navient 's attempt to collect a debt. While I do have student loans with Navient they are being paid and not in default. I was previously contacted on my business line on XX/XX/XXXX about the debt. I went through the prompts and the woman realized that they had called the wrong person. I asked her to not call my business line again and she obliged. So when I got the call in XXXX I was surprised. When I spoke to the woman I immediately said, I asked you not to call this line. She immediately went on the attack and threatened to sue me ; I explained to her that I'm not even who she was looking for. Again, she used very abusive language but when she went through all the identifying information, she realized ( as I tried to tell her ) it wasn't me she was looking for and then she hung up. I called Navient customer service to complain and ask that my business line not be called. Apparently they have no real process for this and could not identify who to call. They said call the person who initially contacted you. It was a direct dial to that person so I'm supposed to complain directly to the person that's the issue? I was told to leave a message asking for a manager to call me back. I've been calling for a week with no answer and no response. I want them to 1 ) not call my business line 2 ) stop calling me about a debt that's not mine 2 ) be fined for continuing to call a number I asked them not to. The person at issue is XXXX XXXX or XXXX her direct dial is XXXX. I spoke to her the morning of XX/XX/XXXX around XXXX.

I also stapled all papers again together. I have not heard anything from them. Try emailing and dont get answers. They keep adding interest to my account. My orginal loan XXXX now little over 17,000. Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: A payment XX/XX/17 of {$480.00} is still not applied to my account which is causing late/interest fees to my account which would be paid in full by now. I have worked with XXXX which mailed the check on XX/XX/17 -it cleared on XX/XX/XXXX being cashed by Dept of Education . XX/XX/17 XXXX received ck # XXXX for {$480.00} cashed it on XX/XX/17 and sent the money back to Department of Education on XX/XX/17 in which no fees have been applied to my loan. With the transfer of accounts from Department of Education to Navient some fees were lost in the transfer -- XXXX & XXXX are checks shown as an example of this happening -- I have been working on fixing and paying off this account since XX/XX/2017 and have not been able to get a resolution. This affects my credit report, parent plus loans and fafsa applications.

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: First off, I want to state that this issue was eventually resolved by Navient. I have only just learned of the lawsuits pending against Navient, however, and wanted to submit this information in case it might be pertinent to the legal issues at hand. In XXXX, I applied for my income-based repayment planned to be renewed. When Navient responded, they sent a letter stating that my application was denied. I contacted Navient by phone because I felt I qualified for the renewal and wanted to know why they had chosen to deny it. The Customer Service Representative with whom I spoke put me on hold while she checked my account. She then informed me that my receiving the letter had been the result of " a glitch '' and that my repayment amount would stay the same ( {$0.00} ). She also assured me this payment amount ( {$0.00} ) would run for one year after my initial plan ended and the renewal began. Not long after speaking with the CSR, however, I received an email from Navient telling me that my monthly payment would increase to {$63.00} and the first such payment would be due on XX/XX/XXXX. I made by second contact to Navient through a form on their website. The representative who responded told me the same as the first -- my application had been received, processed, and approved. I was told that it would go into effect before the XXXX due date so there was nothing for me to worry about. I logged into my Navient account on XX/XX/XXXX to check to make sure the payment had been adjusted. What I found, however, was that my account then showed as " PAST DUE '' with a new payment amount of {$120.00}! On that date, I contacted Navient for the third time total, my second written communication ( again, through their website ), and demanded immediate action before my credit rating was effected and late fees accrued. After that third contact, my account payment balance was finally reset to {$0.00}. I have renewed that same plan in XXXX and again in XXXX without issue. Again, this matter was eventually addressed by Navient but it took my contacting the company 3 separate times over the course of 3-4 months for them to correct an issue which I was assured to be correct from the outset. It is my opinion that this was an attempt to strong-arm me into making a payment ( or multiple payments ) when I was not financial able to do so, and I found these tactics quite unethical. ( Because this happened more than two years ago, I have very little proof. The written communications through the website are no longer accessible on my end, as communications older than one year are routinely removed from the message system on site. These communications should be included in my account history. The one thing I still have and am including as an attached image is a copy of the third communication that I sent in this matter. By that time, I was concerned that I might have to pursue legal channels, so I made a point of keeping a copy. )

Don't agree with the fees charged
Complaint: Navient Student loans is a company that does not even try to help studentsehuch have been paying them thousands of dollars over a decade. U tried very hard to deal with them to reduce the interest of my loans but every time they say no we cannt help. There is no program whatsoever to help students that always have been paying their bills. Thousands of dollars over years. Every payment that I make goes towards the interest only. Only couple of dollars per couple months goes towards the principal. Abviously if I could make large payments to pay off I would. I have been dealing with a lot of health issues and the only thing they say is put on auto pay and you should be ok. Navient just takes and takes and takes from poor students and does not try to work with them.
