Complaint: I am refinancing my house for which I have about 30 percent equity. I visited the Navy Federal Credit Union 's web site to check their rates, but it only lists the lowest rate for conventional loans without the number of months and points. From there, their web site directed me to a loan product at a reasonable interest rate and one point. So I applied, paid a fee, and was assigned a processing agent. When I got the documents, however, it had a large {$7000.00} pre-paid mortgage insurance and a monthly PMI payment of {$250.00}. I had to stop their digital approval process and tried to contact the processing agent by telephone and email. She has not returned me voice mail or email. Closer look at the paper work it appears the web site steered me towards an FHA loan. The processing agent should have seen that with 30 percent equity or LTV ratio, I didn't need that product and its a bit disingenuous that she didn't contact me to confirm that's what I really wanted.

Can't close your account
Complaint: In XX/XX/2017, I opened a checking & savings account with Navy Federal Credit Union. They accepted over {$3500.00} in deposits. To date, -- I have had no access to these accounts. NFCU has repeatedly requested ID documents. I have uploaded, emailed. faxed, and physically mailed -- copies of my Photo ID, Social Security card, utility bills with address, and Passport 8 ( eight ) times. Most recently, ( XX/XX/XXXX ) I visited the XXXX, XXXX branch while on vacation. I presented my XXXX photo driver 's license and requested my accounts be closed, and my money returned to me. I had called Customer Service 2 hours previoulsy and was told by XXXX that is what was required. After a speaking with XXXX and then the manager -- I was told I would have to physically present my social security card. The manager : XXXX, left me sitting while she dealt with another customer. After being in the bank for 55 minutes, I left. I am out of ideas as to how to get my funds returned to me. I have been in touch with Security, Membership -- anyone I can think of. Can you help? Thank you

Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Complaint: In XX/XX/2018, I discovered that my personal information was used to open a business credit card and used to attempt to open a business loan at Navy Federal Credit Union by my former employer. I contacted Navy Federal to inform them that the account opened and the account attempted to be opened was not mine and they sent me the proper documents to dispute the account and the charges made. After I successfully completed all required documents and they completed their investigation, they still ruled that the fraudulent account was mine, which indeed it is not. I have a police report and FTC Fraud affidavit and I would like them to stop badgering me for an account that was clearly opened fraudulently and I have the proper documents to prove it.

Frequent or repeated calls
Complaint: Navy Federal Credit union has repeatedly garnished our bank accounts for a credit card we had while we were in the military. We had paid for insurance to pay off the debt if we were XXXX due to service, but they refused to honor it, and gave us the run around for 2 years to purposely cause the coverage to no longer apply. They have seized XXXX payments from the VA, which is illegal to do.

Company closed your account
Complaint: Navy Federal credit union closed my credit card account while I was on XXXX XXXX status due to my past credit history which I tried to explain has since been improving and closing my card would actually hurt my credit score. I also explained to them that Ive been making timely payments so I couldnt understand why they would decide to close my account. It saddens me that a bank thats supposed to help military and uses military as a marketing scheme is actually a lie especially when Ive been a member for years and if they actually looked past my credit score would see that ive been making timely payments to all credit cards that I own.

Debt was result of identity theft
Complaint: In XX/XX/2017 a credit card was opened in my name by my ex spouse. I did not give her authorization to do that. After finding out about the credit card a couple of months later she told me that she would pay the money back and contact Navy Federal and let them know that I did not open this account. Ive tried disputing this account to no avail. This account has a tremendous impact on my credit report and its unfair that Im deemed ineligible for things due to an account that I never opened. I would like for Navy Federal to get this account removed off of my credit report as well as contact my ex spouse and put this on her credit report. Btw she has a bank account with this bank.

Complaint: Home was originally purchased in XX/XX/XXXX, loan financed for $ XXXX, with Navy Federal Credit Union. I am a XXXX Veteran, however I have never utilized my VA mortgage benefits. I was injured on the job as a XXXX XXXX, which has affected my finances tremendously. I have requested assistance from Navy Federal with lowering my monthly payment, due to unstable income, when family medical leave is taken due to my ongoing medical condition. However, the modification rules have does not allow for my mortgage to be reduced, which I do not understand. I have received 2 modifications, last one in XXXX, yet I have never been offered a lower interest rate, reduction of the principal ( despite my home value dropping drastically in XXXX ), forgiveness of late fees or arrearages. Last modification my loan was extended from 30 to 40 years, yet payments about the same. The rules seem to require a surplus for the modification to be granted, yet a surplus means disqualification for a lower monthly payment. As a veteran and a XXXX XXXX I have served my country all my life, and now I need help, yet the rules prevent Navy Federal Credit Union from lower my monthly payment, while allowing them to foreclose on my only home and auction it off or short sell it to someone else when I have made years of monthly payments. I have to submit years of tax documents to qualify for the modification, yet my determination is based on 1 months, check stubs, and if I do not have a surplus the modification is denied, if I have a surplus, I am offered a payment plan hundreds of dollars hired than my original mortgage I am currently behind on. At no point have I been offered a mortgage reduction of any kind, therefore no help for me. I provided a hardship letter and a letter from my physicians, explaining my medical situation, however the rules prevents the Navy Federal Credit Union loss mitigation specialist from providing me an option that would lower my monthly mortgage and allow me to remain in my home of 11 years. Late payments on my credit report, and lack of rental history affects my ability to move, so it seems I will be added to the homeless veteran list. These rules and practices are unfair and bias at best, who investigates to determine if profits are being made from the programs supposedly created by the government to assist those of us who are requesting assistance. What qualifications are required to receive a reduction in interest rate, reduction of principal or forgiveness of late fees or arrears, because I want to keep my home. However I was told I only qualify for a payment plan I know I can't afford, so I asked about the Deed in Lieu, rather than foreclosure, only to determine I will not be allowed to utilize my VA home benefits for 2 years once the deed is signed over.
