Complaint: My complaint is with First Merit Bank ( XXXX, OH ) on a vehicle loan ( XXXX ) in which I paid in full, hold the title to ( enclosed ) and according to the bank personnel I spoke to on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX in good standing ( XXXX and XXXX - supervisor ). The issue is that all XXXX of my credit reports ( XXXX, XXXX and XXXX ) show different 30, 60 and 90 and 120 days deliquent status thou I was not late with payments as each was called in person on due date of payment. XXXX shows 60 day late and XXXX shows 120 day late of which I was told by both individuals up top in XXXX/XXXX/XXXX that there records show 5 - 30 day late payments only and no 60/90 or 120 days late and if that was the fact on my report according to them on the phone, they would of repossessed my car. I believe another issue at the center here is that I was offered a " loan extension '' on the back-end of the loan as a " special offer '' to customers like myself in good standing. This was encouraged/offered to me on the phone by a First Merrit Rep back in XXXX well before loan maturity of which I took advantage of but that I would have to pay some additional interest at the end of the loan by doing this. I paid that interest and its documented. I did receive a letter of the offer but no specific details of the offer in writing or informed by anyone at First Merit Bank on a monthly basis when I called to make my payment that this would put me in a " delinquent status '' or " affect my credit report. '' nor did I receive any written notification outside my statement in good standing that my " loan was in jeapardy '' outside of the additional interest that was due from the extension of the loan. Each month I called in on the due date and make a payment and the First Merit Bank reps were pleasant and informative on any questions I asked. Last week I called First Merit ( XXXX/XXXX/XXXX ) to address the credit reporting errors after " repeated attempts '' this past year to resolve with " notorized letters '' and " attempts to remove '' the errors. I spoke with all three credit reporting agencies who said they would submit inquiries to the bank -- most of which was not done and the tone was very clear that the Bank is always right. I received today ( XXXX/XXXX/XXXX ) upon my request a " history of payments '' from First Merit and asked for both due dates and payment dates to verify the so called 5 separate months of 30-day late payment. The multiple sheet shows nothing of the such to support their claims of 30/60/90 or 120 day late. I 'm requesting all 30-day lates be taken off my credit reports as well as 60/90/120 day which are not acurate and was even told so by First Merit Bank Reps/Supervisors - XXXX and XXXX on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. Additionally, the " loan extension '' offer was both misleading and not explained in a way that clearly benefited the consumer vs the lender.
Additionally, the contact information on all XXXX credit reports for First Merit Bank goes to a non working number. I asked the Credit Bureus for a working number and they indicated they did not have the responsibility to provide or supply beyond what First Merit provides to them - very non helpful. The real numbers are Consumer Loan Services number is XXXX or XXXX. Another number is XXXX for Financial Services.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, 2014, I was unable to leave the property of First Merit Bank, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, Ohio because of a bank XXXX. I complained to the bank employees who did nothing. I was trapped at the bank. I filed a written complaint with the bank the very next day, including the following : " Because of this terrible situation I experienced at FMB, I tried to contact the offices of its XXXX, XXXX XXXX, to inform headquarters. I called the XXXX customer number. To my disappointment, XXXX would or could not give me contact information for the Bank 's corporate offices in XXXX. I then called the XXXX XXXX branch. To my continued amazement, teller XXXX had never heard of XXXX. ( Does n't the Bank educate its employees about such a simple piece of information? ) Nor could she tell me how to contact the Bank 's corporate offices. All she would say is call customer service. I informed her that I already had. XXXX had nothing more to add. '' No one from the bank ever responded. I resubmitted the complaint on XXXX XXXX, 2014. Still, to date no one from the bank has contacted me about being prevented from leaving the bank 's property, It is now more than half a year without the bank acknowledging the customer service problem, let alone apologizing or taking action to correct its mismanagement. It is against public policy and the public interest to be held 'captive ' by a bank and its contractors. And, just as bad is the inability or the intention of the bank 's customer service department to provide access by a current customer to the bank 's corporate staff. How can the public complain to headquarters when the lower ranks are a hindrance.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, 2015 I visited the drive through at First Merit bank in. XXXX. Michigan. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX , Michigan XXXX. I deposited XXXX checks totaling {$3500.00}. I asked for {$200.00} cash back. Please see attachment of deposit slip. I put that the {$3500.00} with the {$200.00} cash kept that I was making a total deposit of {$3200.00}. The math is obviously wrong. The deposit was to be {$3300.00}. There is a {$100.00} discrepancy. The math error was my fault. The teller gave me {$200.00} in cash and I was given a total deposit of {$3200.00}. Nothing was said and nothing was corrected on my deposit slip. I counted the {$200.00} given in XXXX twenty dollar bills and drove away. I later examined my deposit slip online and noticed the error. I brought it to XXXX 's attention at First Merit bank. She told me that I was given {$300.00} in cash that day to correct the error. I was not. I was given {$200.00} in cash. I asked her for the bank video and she said that there would be none. She refused to give me my money back. The deposit slip says it all. The math is wrong and there are no corrections on it. I was only given {$200.00}. I certainly would notice if I was given an extra {$100.00}. I know {$100.00} is not a large sum of money and maybe not worth this hassle but I feel cheated to and lied to. This is not fair. Please examine the handwritten deposit slip. I have front and back from my transaction. It is not corrected but it cleared the system.

Complaint: I chose to close a bank account with FirstMerit Bank located in XXXX XXXX, WI. When they gave me the document to sign it showed that only XXXX remained in the account. I asked how that could be and was told of a inactivity fee of XXXX per month. I was totally unaware of this fee.
I was told by a customer service person that they send out a notice each month when the account is ready for viewing. I told them I have never received any such email. I did check the account a couple of years ago and the amount shown matched my checkbook balance. I usually come up to Wisconsin for a couple of weeks each year. I did not come up last year due to a death in the family otherwise I would have closed the account a year ago.
The customer service person said " I wish you had not closed the account, now there is nothing I can do ''. I said that makes no sense and I will pursue the issue.

Complaint: I had a {$600.00} withdraw taken from my husbands checking account that I am joint on. He has worked hard and overtime for his money for months. They claim there is a checking and savings charged off from 2008. I have no clue what this is from. Plus over {$1000.00} is from fees and charges. What on earth kind of bank would let an account accumulated over {$1000.00} in fees and charges. This is downright nuts. They will not provide me any proof of this information and how on earth can a savings get a negative balance? I want immediate action to have this money put back in the account. Complaint: I opened a checking account with First Merit Bank because there was a flyer that was sent to my home stating that I could receive {$150.00} worth of credits to my account if I followed certain procedures for opening an account. The procedures are in {$25.00} increments. I have ( 1 ) opened a checking account with Mobile Banking ( 2 ) enrolled int he merit rewards program and ( 3 ) I do participate in the direct deposit program to the account. Since I have opened this account I have been receiving fees of {$35.00} stating that I have had many overdrafts. I have discussed with the bank that I have a tight budget and call and go on-line constantly but they always seem to place the blame on the merchant and hold money for 2 to 3 days knowing that the purchase was made when I had the money in my account. I have been charged almost {$300.00} in overdraft fees in 3 months since I opened the checking account. I have not seen the {$150.00} activation reward in my account nor do I merit all of the fees that First Merit has charged to my account.
