Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: I just sent this letter to mygreatlakes.com, it 's the second time excess payments have n't been made correctly.
Please apply 100 % of my excess payments to the account with the higher interest rates immediately.
XXXX/XXXX/2016 - {$85.00} XXXX/XXXX/2016 - {$20.00} XXXX/XXXX/2016 - {$85.00} XXXX/XXXX/2016 - {$85.00} XXXX/XXXX/2016 - {$40.00} According to your repayment rules, there is zero reason for the monthly payment for loan token XXXX to be going up each month. My payments being made in excess should be going towards token XXXX, as outlined in my overall account, and as each payment is made. I choose for 100 % of the excess payment to go towards token XXXX with the higher interest rate, and it NEVER happens correctly.
Please contact me as soon as you can. This is the second time I 'm contacting you about this problem after I was told it had been resolved over the phone. I will be contacting the CFPB as well with this exact letter for the second time.

Having problems with customer service
Complaint: I have experienced so many problems dealing with Great Lakes XXXX. I lost my job in XXXX, 2016. I informed Great Lakes regarding my situation, and I have requested a forbearance for a year, and I was approved. Fast forward to XXXX, 2016. I landed a job in XXXX, 2016. But, I was making much less. I informed Great Lakes, and said that I could start making payments. I completed my Income Based Repayment form, took a picture, submitted documents using the Great Lakes app. I have n't heard from them, I called them the first week of XXXX, 2016 ; no one processed my application. I submitted my offer letter along with the application, uploaded to the Forms section of Great Lakes website. I called back, and was told that they could n't accept my offer letter, they needed my paystub. I submitted that. When I called again, they decided to process my paperwork. Then, I filed a complaint with Great Lakes. They failed to reached out to me. They told me that I would pay {$76.00} at the end of XXXX, 2016. I paid the {$5.00} that they requested on XXXX XXXX, 2016. They lied and told me that they would deliver my pay schedule to me. Here it is almost two weeks later, and I contacted them today, ( Monday, XXXX XXXX, 2016 ), they said that they have n't processed my request, and I have to pay {$200.00}. Why must I do that, when I requested a forbearance. I told them that I was done with them and their running around. I informed them that I will contact Department of Education, my Congressperson, XXXX, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.I have all of my emails from Great Lakes, and my response to them to provide to you as backup upon your request.
Thank you, XXXX XXXX

Received bad information about my loan
Complaint: Since XXXX 2016 as I applied for an income driven repayment plan, I have received conflicting information from numerous reps and multiple managers regarding whether I should I expect an interest subsidy to apply to my account with Great Lakes after my monthly payment amount changed in year two of the income driven repayment plan. After the subsidy did not post in XXXX, I was told that I should still expect the subsidy but that it was delayed because my payment plan did begin until the following month on XXXX XXXX. I called repeatedly in XXXX to confirm and was told I should expect the subsidy by XXXX XXXX, but I did not receive a subsidy by the end of the month. I called on the first business day of XXXX and by the following day and multiple calls, I was told that by XXXX XXXX I should expect an interest subsidy and that there was a delay from the government in posting interest subsidies. After the subsidy did not post by XXXX XXXX, I was told on XXXX XXXX that I would not qualify for an interest subsidy because my new payment amount is higher than the subsidy. This was a simple piece of information that multiple representatives and managers missed from XXXX through XXXX. This misinformation negatively affected my ability to plan financially and has caused me to make payments on unsubsidized loans with lower interest rates because I expected the subsidy on the subsidized loans. As a financial service company, multiple guesses and examples of misinformation over an extended period of time are unacceptable. I am also concerned by the final manager I spoke with advising me to apply for removal from the income driven repayment plan with the idea of letting my loans be forgiven after 20 years. Not only was I misinformed, but I was encouraged to keep up with my minimum payments, which would cause me to pay significantly more over the life of the loan.

Complaint: I have a student loan through Great Lakes. The original loan amount was {$60000.00}. I 've made {$23000.00}. in payments. The remaining balance on the loan is {$75000.00}. When I make a {$260.00}. payment they only credit me with {$15.00} toward my principal. This has to be a fraudulent loan. Where can I get help?

Received bad information about my loan
Complaint: I received a forbearance by a gentleman on the phone who assured me that a forbearance would get rid of my late student loan payments ( which I could n't make because I lost my job ). On XXXX and XXXX he kept his end of the bargain and they deleted the past student loan late payments, but on XXXX, I am still showing as late.
I was recently promoted at my job and will have no problems paying my bills on time Please update XXXX to not show the late payments as discussed in the forbearance and I will be satisfied and my financial future will be back on track.
I have attached a copy of my XXXX XXXX credit report, dated yesterday that I paid for, as well as a close-up image showing the discrepancy.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter, and I look forward to seeing the result showing as it should be properly reported per my verbal conversation with the representative at Great Lakes,.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, I had called Great Lakes Student Loans in regards to my Student Loans going into default on the XXXX. The Representative asked if I could make any payment. I made a {$50.00} payment and she was going to check to see if she could set me up on another payment plan and call me back. I received no callback. I called back on the XXXX and was told that my case was still pending approval and there was no note to call me back. The woman told me that if I made the remaining {$160.00} ( to total the {$210.00} payment - which is part of the graduated payment plan which they were working on getting me on ). She informed me that if I made the payment then I would be placed on the payment plan and MY STUDENT LOANS WOULD NOT GO INTO DEFAULT! This was on a recorded line! I am furious to know that they have been moved to a collection agency!
