Complaint: I have a XXXX student loan with Great Lakes which has been on and off in-school deferment and forbearance since 2010. Every year, Great Lakes has brought the loan out of in-school deferment before receiving notice of or verifying my XXXX semester attendance. They have had to make more than two retro-active adjustments to my loan repayment history because of this practice. For the past month I have been trying to speak with someone at Great Lakes about the issues with my repayment history and I am being jerked around and told that the information can not be changed because of the Fair Credit Reporting Acts. I researched into this topic and discovered a letter from the FTC discussing Great Lakes ' obligation to update the information on the credit file, even if it was accurate at the time it was reported. They have since refused to respond to me and I am now searching out other ways to resolve this issue.
I have paid on my loan and my account is in good standing. The remaining principal balance is less than the original principal balance so I do not owe more than I took, I owe less. I have been working very hard to try and get this loan taken care of but, at each step Great Lakes has worked against me to prolong the time the student loan stays in repayment and therefore in their possession. I feel as though Great Lakes has no incentive to provide me with assistance as their money comes from having a number of accounts to service. Essentially they are a for-profit XXXX complex. There is no incentive to rehabilitate the XXXX if the XXXX gets a monthly check based on head count. The same situation is true with federally subsidized student loans. Great Lakes is attempting to prolong the repayment period of my loan and will not work with me to correct the inaccurate payment history.

Complaint: I decide to attend XXXX ( XXXX ) through there online courses from XXXX when I graduate in late XXXX. From the start the process to enroll and the classes themselves seemed way to easy but I was eager to get a degree and start my dream career. After graduating it took months of constant contact asking where my diploma was. Meanwhile they kept telling me it 's on it 's way in the mail. Finally 6 months after graduating it arrived.
Now a few years later I 'm still not able to get a job in my field so I 've been doing research and find out the school is not legit and is not an accredited school.
It 's financially breaking me to keep paying these loans. On top of that it 's also breaking my parents financial as well because they took on the responsibility of a large part of my loans because after the first 6months to a year I did n't qualify for financial aid.
All I want is to be relieved of my remain 7-8 years left in my loan and to finally be able to have a chance to make it in the future without this debt. Even more so I 'd love to be able to tell my family that they no longer have to worry about the loan they took on for me, as they are paying more than I am per month.
Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: So, during college we were always fed this dream that we would make enough to make affordable payments plus our living expense 's. I really tried hard at school and graduated although I had a XXXX. I 'm happy to say that I also work for the XXXX but it happened by a freak accident through a other company I was working for was bought by the XXXX. So, the first payment I maid in XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX was because of my taxes XXXX. As we got further into my job I noticed thing were not what they seemed due to payment I could not afford it at all. We are talking XXXX to the XXXX range including my rent, car, utilities and necessities had a XXXX and his sick father that I was taking care of do to XXXX and still do it. I 'm basically homeless living with my parent do to debt and my son fathers illness making XXXX an hour going on 4 years and started at XXXX an hour you do the math. Trying to stay together. I 've been putting holds on my account now since I knew there was no way of paying at this rate. I thought the XXXX was supposed to take me places ... not this way can not make it. They will not make lower payments at all I have tried. Help

Complaint: Hello, I am a graduate from XXXX. I pay my loans back to Great Lakes Student Loans. Over the past several months I have been trying to pay back my high interested loans. The way that the loans are set up, I must pay back the standard monthly payment, which applies a little bit to each of the loans I have, including the high interest loans. I have complied with this requirement. I have also been trying to pay ahead by putting extra money into the high interest loans, which are 6.8 % interest. Whenever I call to pay ahead, the person that I talk to on the phone tells me very clearly that I am up-to-date on payments, and that the money I pay ahead will go directly to the high interest loans that I am requesting to pay off. After about a week I will check my account to find that they have not done that, and instead have applied a little of the money I pay ahead to all of the loans, not specifically to the high interest loans. My online account says that I am even paid ahead until XXXX 2017, yet I can not get through to the customer service at Great Lakes Student Loans that I want these high interest loans paid ahead. I have talked to them so many times about it and can not get them to comply. I do n't know what to do about this anymore. I would really like to pay ahead on the high interest loans but the representatives that I talk to at Great Lakes simply wo n't apply the money correctly. If there is anything that can be done please help me. I really feel like I 'm getting XXXX out of money.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX 2016 I was notified by my HR department that Great Lakes Student loans for 15 % of my income. I immediately called in and even when I called in the automated system said yet again I do not have any loans with Great Lakes I pushed the prompt to speak with a rep who said I did n't have loans with them after she placed me on hold she told me it was with a different department. I called the number she gave and asked XXXX why the automated system said I had no loans with your company. She said because I called the wrong phone number. She advised that a letter had been sent I advised I never got a letter and I thought my loans had been transferred to the department of education since when I called prior the system said I had no loans with your company. She then told me there was nothing she could do. I advised I 'm on a rehab plan with the Department of Education she then told me that has no bearing on the current situation I 've been asked her is there a way to stop the garnishment because I can not afford it she told me that I could send them a income review sheet of which I did however after I sent in the income review she then advise me that her supervisor wanted me to send in my child support order and medical expenses now when I wrote the letter I never said I have medical expenses what I did say was that I have medical issues that cause me to miss out on work which means that I do not get paid when I miss out on work however she again told me that I needed to send in my child support order I asked her are you assuming that I have tried to support or are you asking she said that we need the child support order I told her that child support is not a guarantee form of income and can stop at any time that has no bearing on my finances because it is not a guarantee also I asked her why is it that I have to provide detailed documentation about my medical issues if I 'm telling you that I have these medical issues then unless there 's a policy telling me that I need to send in documentation for my doctor I do n't understand why she was asking probing questions however she did. After I ask to speak to her supervisor the one that will be reviewing my request of the stopping of the garnishment she did tell me that she does not take calls and that she will make a notation that I did not want to provide the information that she asked for I then proceeded to tell her I did not say that and that what I did say was I do not have what she is asking for her to assume that I have child support of which is not a guaranteed income even if I do have an order that that should not be considered because I ca n't guarantee that every month I 'm going to get that money every month even in the hardship letter I let them know that I one point I was working XXXX jobs but due to health care issues that I have I could not continue to work both jobs so I quit my XXXX job my question is why is it okay for your company to to have a system that misleads Borrowers when they have accounts with you but your system tells them that they do not so you would have borroers assume that they do not have an account I did ask so when was the last time anyone attempted to call me at the phone number that I have on file which is active I asked when was the last time someone tried to call me XXXX advised XXXX was the last time she seen so I 'm trying to understand what policies and procedures you have because at this point those are deceptive practices to have an automated system that does n't give accurate information leaving me open to garnishment when I could have easily set up a payment plan or rehab plan the same way I did with the Department of Education I feel as if the department handling my account does not want to help me can not account for the questions that they are asking me.

Complaint: I borrowed student loan money in the XXXX 's, to the sum of XXXX or less. I paid these loan for years and in XXXX, I filed bankruptcy and my loans disappered. I called and asked where my loan statements were and thay said " I did not have any active student loan accounts ''. Complaint: My Federal Loan Servicer, Great Lakes Educational Loan Services ( GLELS ), created a new Unemployment Deferment form OMB No. XXXX ( Expires XXXX/XXXX/2018 ), which authorizes " them '' to contact me " only '' by cell phone on page XXXX of the form. I " only '' want to be contacted by GLELS through the U. S. Postal Service and I want my loans discharged according to the discharge clause in " our '' Master Promissory Note contract, where I was a victim of crimes by the University XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) employees.
I have asked that my Federal Student Loans be discharged due to the beating, discrimination, and fraud I suffered from employees at OUHSC. Therefore, I am registering a complaint about this form with the Honorable Senator XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ). Furthermore, I am writing President-Elect XXXX and President Obama about this matter requesting my student loans be discharged and those that committed crimes against me regarding this matter be immediately arrested.

Complaint: I have a complaint regarding my education with XXXX XXXX XXXX. I enrolled in XXXX XX/XX/2014 in the XXXX course which is the longest and covers everything with XXXX. I have completed all of my prior classes until XXXX told me that they will no longer be able to cover my financial aid and that if I wanted to continue my education with them I 'd have to pay out of pocket with my own money. At the end of the last course XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I was told by counselor/admission advisor XXXX XXXX at the end of the course that the school made some kind of mistake and that FAFSA was not covering my financial aid and that she was suppose to notify about this issue at the beginning of the course not at the end. Then I was forced to pay cash out of the pocket. During the course I got discharged from my job and I wasnt able to afford payments these high each class is almost XXXX dollars and she told me that I have to pay this amount in 6 weeks.
And if I wanted to continue the rest of the classes I would have to pay my own cash for the class and books. As of now I completed half of the XXXX education course and still have a little bit more than half left ( which is about halfway done ). So I because the fact that they couldnt cover my financial aid with schooling I was forced to wait a couple months until the issue was resolved. During this time nothing happened and they werent able to help me out financially, a couple months later I called back to see if their was any good news, unfortunately I was told that they did not know when they get financial aid back.

Complaint: Okay I registered for ( XXXX school ) XXXX the school of XXXX in XX/XX/2011 and mid way through my mother fell gravely ill I had to quit the school. I was never certifieed or licensed and did not finish my schooling there. I feel that I was n't fully educated on how a school loan would effect my finances later on as it was my first time receiving XXXX ... .I also have seen how other school educate their students on the various components of the school loans and grants and I know for a fact I was not given that same education on loan awareness and now I still have this outstanding loan which is affecting my credit score and lifestyle.
