Complaint: According to Equifax, I was one of millions of consumers affected by the recent data security breach. My social security number ( in addition to other sensitive information ) was accessed by an unauthorized third party due to the insufficient security measures in place over their electronic systems. I am now at much greater risk for identify theft. I 've placed a fraud alert with the credit bureaus. Equifax has offered free credit protection for a year, but only if I waive rights to participate in any class-action lawsuit.
Regardless, now that my information has been leaked, I will always be at greater risk for identity theft. I can only take measures to mitigate this already growing risk of identity theft at my own personal cost.

Complaint: I was part of the Equifax credit information hack. I find it unacceptable that I have to PAY to freeze my credit when I did n't consent to my information being stored by Equifax, XXXX or XXXX in the first place. Congress should make credit freezes and unfreezes free federally. Credit reporting agencies already make money off of my information and I should not be required to pay them additional money to protect my information, especially when they are doing a poor job in the first place. Thank you for taking time to read my complaint.

Complaint: I have provided all three credit bureaus information regarding XXXX XXXX which included conflict of the original balance being reported to the credit bureaus and me I provided documentation to support the dispute as I have always done. on XXXX XXXX,2017 XXXX sent me an email stating XXXX XXXX was being removed from my credit. based on XXXX providing me documentation through my credit report stating the original loan balance was different from what the loan statement was. As of today, with all the documentation provided, Equifax continue to have this account as if it was dismissed in a bankruptcy. This account was never in bankruptcy. I have not received word on XXXX in which provided me documentation of that they have raised my credit score.
I believe I am one of those who had been hacked because my credit score was higher before the information was leaked now it is really low. the lowest

Complaint: Equifax allowed critical personal information to be released on over 50 % of the population United States. This is absolutely deplorable!
It is important to note that consumers such as me even lost passwords to key business sites including retirement accounts, credit cards and even their email providers. I know this for a fact!
Within two days of this breech, Equifax Board members sold some of their stock. Consumers did not learn of this for about 75 days!
Equifax as a company should not be allowed to exist. It should not be allow to simply change its name. Equifax board members, executives, information technology staff and other employees involved should be punished for what they have done to the citizens of our country.
In the future, Equifax, XXXX, XXXX and similar companies must have comprehensive review and oversight.

Problem getting your free annual credit report
Complaint: I found out about the Equifax system breach on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX and I immediately requested my consumer report from Equifax. A rep from Equifax informed me that my credit file was in fact heavily compromised with multiple new accounts overseas and that for my protection my file was " administratively '' frozen. The rep ( XXXX? ) further informed me that even though I verified my account verbally and submitted the requested photocopies of ID that Equifax will NEVER release my file as it was not just compromised, it was used fraudulently to destroy my credit.
Furthermore, Equifax will not do anything with my consumer file. As soon as I verify my SSN on subsequent calls, i will be informed that my matter was resolved and hang up the phone.

Complaint: Equifax mishandled my personal information including Name, Social Security #, Address, Birthdate, etc. resulting in a data breach in XXXX 2017 that I was likely affected by.
They have put myself and over a hundred million others at risk of identity theft/fraud due to negligent security protocols in handling consumer information. They are further attempting to capitalize on the situation by signing injured parties they are responsible for up for trial periods of their own ID protection services.
They are simultaneously defrauding these injured parties with hidden terms of service that waive their right to sue the company.
