Debt resulted from identity theft
Complaint: Diversified Consultants, Inc. pulled my credit report for no reason. There was a fraudulent account from XXXX that was opened under my name, but they did not collect on it ( another company did ). So they had no permissible purpose to pull my credit. They have a consent order in place from the New York Department of Consumer Affairs concerning their handling of collections, credit reporting, etc.

Debt was paid
Complaint: This debt to diversified was paid based on my agreement with them. They were supposed to forgive the XXXX and i paid them the XXXX the beginning of XXXX to process XXXX XXXX. The Supervisor i talked to said she was going to have them hold the account there since they had the payment in hand. XXXX sold me faulty phones and then all my identity info was hacked into in their system. I am trying to refinance my home and need this collection removed since it is inaccurate.

Debt was paid
Complaint: I received a collection that was filed against me on behalf of an XXXX account I had entrusted a family member with for a phone service contract back in XXXX XXXX. I was contacted by this agency, to collect on behalf of XXXX. I advised the representative that this was an account I had as a family plan and that my family members failed to make good on the account. She advised me that the total collection was {$1300.00}. I advised them that I wanted to resolve this account, and asked if they had a settlement option that would allow me to resolve this debt at a reduced cost.
They indicated yes they did have a settlement option and that for {$850.00}, I would settle this account. I confirmed with them via a recorded line, if I pay this amount this account would be satisfied. They ensured me yes it would once I made the payments of {$850.00}. I accepted and made the payment of {$850.00}. I continued to monitor my credit and saw the collection was listed as paid and removed from my credit report. In XXXX XXXX I received calls from another collection agency indicating that I had a balance of {$450.00}, which is the difference between the original collection and the settlement amount. I contacted XXXX and they advised me they saw my account was paid per the settlement agreement. But they indicated that my settlement agreement was just with them only and not a full satisfaction of the debt.
Settlement by definition is " an official agreement intended to resolve a dispute or conflict. '' Therefore, as a consumer I was left with the impression that this debt was resolved as per my settlement agreement with them and this was also confirmed via their recorded line. Which they have the recorded calls to confirm this.
My dispute is ; if in order to satisfy this debt the full amount would have been due, then that is what should have been communicated with me and no alternate settlement should have been offered. I paid the {$850.00} to them with the understanding this was a satisfaction of this debt, and that no additional collections would be perused. This account has now been filed again with collections. This has again had an adverse effect on my credit that I have been so cautiously trying to rebuild since the affects the XXXX took on my credit. I fulfilled the agreement to resolve this account with XXXX.
XXXX, XXXX XXXX and now Diversified XXXX continues to deny that I satisfied this debt. As a consumer I feel that I have been misled, falsely informed and had my credit affected at the direction of this company for an additional time. I was advised that this was a settlement for the account NOT a partial payment. This is an injustice to me as a consumer to continue to be affected by this after I paid them in accordance with their settlement agreement in exchange for what I was told was a satisfaction of this debt. I have attempted to discuss this with XXXX XXXX XXXX, Diversified XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, The Wisconsin Department of Consumer Affairs, The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions ; without any success. I beg of the CFPB to provide assistance with this matter to find justice for the consumers.

Debt is not mine
Complaint: Consumer has made a previous complaint to CFPB about Diversified Consultants in which they responded with lies. Consumer e-mailed Diversified Consultants to inquire as to its reason for placing a statute of limitations-barred, bogus wireless bill on both my XXXX and XXXX credit reports. The rep responded that the account could not be located and requested I send my name and address to verify the account. Of course, I refused. The rep first asked for the last XXXX digits of my SS # -that I provided. DCI was quick to place this bogus item on my credit reports but can not find the account in their records and quick to respond with lies to the first CFPB complaint.

Not given enough info to verify debt
Complaint: I received a letter from Diversified Consultants claiming that they are trying to collect a XXXX debt from a XXXX account. I never had XXXX so I know this could not be me.
I received the letter on XXXX/XXXX/2016 and instantly sent out a debt verification letter, in response they just sent back a letter with a photocopied bill. The bill showed just the name XXXX XXXX and nothing else. There was no signed contract or pedigree information. There are several XXXX XXXX that live in my area and I know that this is not my account. At the bottom of the letter they responded back with it said " this is not an attempt to collect a debt ' I recently got a notification from the credit bureaus that Diversified Consultants has reported negative information to the credit bureaus on me. This is not right and is illegal.

Not given enough info to verify debt
Complaint: This collection company is continuing their collection activity on this account on my credit report. I feel they did not validate this account or debt per my request that I sent them in the mail previously. They have not provided signed proof that I incurred this debt, an itemization of the debt and a copy of the underlying account statement and other written validation and explanation of the debt.
Being that they failed to provide it, this is a clear violation of FDCPA. At this point I am entitled to statutory damages, as they continue to report this information and that is highly damaging to me. Proper validation consists of copies of some type of current creditor records, not records which only verify that the collector believes an account is valid.

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: Diversified consultants provided me with documentation that does not state for the debt amount they are asking for which also did not provide me with the documentation of the debt within five days that I contact the company on XXXX/XXXX/2016. When I talk to the original creditor. The original creditor respond to me that it is about another debt. So diversified is using fraudulent papers in order to get me to pay some one else debt. So in order to get this issue resolved. I am asking diversified to immediate delete themselves off my credit report.
