Other problem
Complaint: Discover has decreased my line of credit. I have paid off my balance and only missed one payment by 5 days. And my account went from {$11000.00} of available credit to {$1500.00}. As a customer for 3 years I feel discriminated within the use of fair credit reporting act and mistreated by a company that just reached out to me about a line of credit for my XXXX XXXX agency. It was very unprofessional to decrease a line of credit to worsen someones score who has been faithful and paid back efficiently. Discovers service is unacceptable.

Sued you without properly notifying you of lawsuit
Complaint: I had a Discover credit card that I was approved for approximately 18 years ago when I lived in XXXX. I moved up to XXXX XXXX 15 years ago and ran in to some financial problems a year or two later and could not pay my debt owed which at the time was around {$13000.00}. Discover did send me letters saying it was going in to collections, but soon after than all communications from them ceased. I never heard from them again until about 8-10 years later saying they took me to court and sued me for {$26000.00}. Again, after that all communications stopped. A few months ago I received a letter from the Sheriff saying that my wages were going to be garnished. I had an attorney contact Discover to make a lump sum settlement for the original amount owed, but they refused to make any kind of settlement for any amount. I know that I NEVER received any form of legal documents from them in the form of a certified letter or document and was never served at any time. I believe they violated the statute of limitations in regards to filing the lawsuit. XXXX statute of limitations is 3 years and XXXX XXXX is 6 years. I know they took longer than that to file the lawsuit. That in addition to never serving me or sending written notice of a lawsuit I believe makes the lawsuit illegal.

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: Discover Card is showing they have loaned money to me on two separate accounts. When I confront them about proof they loan money from their own funds, they can not answer questions. Ive sent them questions, waiting for someone with first hand knowledge to answer. Unfortunately I assume they do not have the answer or they are hiding information from me. These question would assure a few different points. One, Discover card made a legal loan from their own fund and they are untitled to collect. Two, when making this alleged loan they complied with the Truth and Lending Act. Three, it would show the real ledgers of the account for proof of what happen in the back ground of this alleged loan.

Problem during payment process
Complaint: Discover Financial Services XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX UT XXXX Fri XXXX XXXX2019 INTERNET PAYMENT - THANK YOU {$1000.00} Wed XXXX XXXX2019 RETURNED INTERNET PMT {$1000.00} Questionable Charge : Not authorized by account owner Wed XXXX XXXX2019 REPRESENTED INTERNET PAYMENT - THANK YOU {$1000.00} XXXX XXXX 2019 Why was a returned payment resubmitted without my notice or permission? I only authorized the initial/single payment.
Re : Online Payments [ # XXXX ] Please note if a payment is returned due to insufficient or uncollectable funds between {$5.00} and {$2400.00}, the payment will automatically be resubmitted once. This means the payment will be attempted two times total.
I don't care what the amount, they have NO right to dispense my funds beyond my initial request. I request the bank pay my fees incurred at the other end of the payment process. Discover Card is liable for fees incurred on the other end due to their irresponsible and unauthorized handling of my money.
Discover Card also needs to stop the practice of requisitioning account holder funds to meet their own ends.

Contacted discovered initially on XX/XX/XXXX after I noticed the item had already been delivery, but I did not receive the package and wanted to start a dispute. On XX/XX/XXXX via the discover portal I was notified that the dispute was resolved in merchant favor even though the documentation was barely readable and still noted that the item was left at porch and released by the driver. Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Complaint: Have had credit card account with Discover Card since XXXX, never a late payment, always paying much more than the minimum due. Card initially opened as a secured card and with my responsible behavior, security deposit returned and credit limit increased to {$1200.00}. Since, opening the account in XXXX, my negative credit has remained the same, and I have had only positive trade lines since XXXX. On or about, XX/XX/XXXX, the automated review at Discover Card reduced my credit limit to {$500.00} based on the same negative information from when the account was opened in XXXX.
With all of my positive trade line information, and the addition of two accounts at XXXX XXXX, my Discover Card credit limit should have only increased and not decreased.

Problem with rewards from credit card
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX/XX/XX/XXXX, my husband and I received promotions for Discover credit cards that offered " 5 % cash back on everything ''. We quickly applied and were approved. ( I believe I even called Discover to confirm it was 5 % cash back on everything ). In XX/XX/XXXX, we began using our Discover cards for ALL our purchases, expecting 5 % cash back, but I called Discover today and we are only getting 5 % on certain categories of products, with a ceiling on how much cash back we can receive, and only for this XX/XX/XXXX, and were getting 1 % cash back on everything else.
On XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, I received emails telling me to " activate 5 % cash back '', which was a quarterly program on certain categories of products ( groceries, gas, etc. ). We should've already had 5 % cash back on everything, so I thought this was an additional bonus and I activated it. I suspect that when I activated this, the original cashback reward program we were enrolled in changed, because nothing in the original offer ( a ) put any limitations on cash back purchase categories or ( b ) put a timeframe ( quarterly ) on the offer or ( c ) mentioned we would receive 1 % cashback on everything else.
A Supervisor named XXXX at Discover in OH ( XXXX ) told me today " if I had the original offer they could adjust my account. '' Unfortunately, I don't have the original offer code, but I've asked them to have their " applications team '' look up our original applications with the specific " offer code '' they gave us, which would prove the details of their original offer. Unfortunately, they are in complete control of the outcome of this investigation -- because they ( a ) are the only ones who have the offer code ( I mean, who saves those? ) and ( b ) they can say whatever they want about what the details of the original offer were.
Until we got our Discover cards, we had been using a credit card that offered 3 % on everything. We would never have knowingly switched to a card that only offered 1 % on everything and 5 % just on certain categories of purchases, only for one quarter, and with a limit on how much cash back we could receive.
In the first 5 months that weve been Discover cardholders, weve spent at least {$13000.00} on one of the cards, so we were expecting about {$650.00} ( 5 % ) cash back. Weve received {$160.00} so far. Thats about {$500.00} that we were expecting but wont get.
I was misled, and Im not sure how to prove it to you now. Who saves credit card offers they receive in the mail? I believe that Discover assumes that people do not receive those mailed promotional offers and takes advantage of peoples innocence to later bait and switch the rewards program they offer you when they see just how much cashback youd be eligible for under the original offer.
Well see the outcome of their investigation, but I dont trust them anymore.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: I made what was going to be the final payment toward my student loan. The amount was XXXX and it was made on Discover 's student loan website on XX/XX/XXXX/2019. This payment was supposed to be split into {$80.00} toward my monthly payment with the rest going toward paying down my principal balance.
Discover applied the {$80.00} payment promptly while failing to apply the the payment toward my principal balance. The entire sum of {$3300.00} has been deducted from my bank account and Discover refuses to bring down my principal amount. Due to this, I am being charged 10 % interest per annum daily on my balance.
As I write this to you on Friday, XX/XX/XXXX, it has been 5 business days without Discover finding a resolution to this problem. I have made 2 calls and written several emails. During all of this time, I am being charged interest unfairly.
I am attaching Discover 's acknowledgement of the one-time payment I made. Their call center refuses to acknowledge this proof and wants to inconvenience me by making me go to my bank and get a statement and send it to them as proof of payment. I don't understand why they can't treat their own letter ( which they sent to me ) as proof.

Trouble getting, activating, or registering a card
Complaint: I applied for a Discover It secured card on XX/XX/2019 i was approved and chose to have a deposit in the amount of {$200.00} I recieved an email confirmation on XXXX/XXXX/2019 confirming the account. My bank account had fraud on it and i had to close out the account and open a new account. I immediatley reached out to discover to let them know that there was fraud on the account and was advised by rep that the transaction should go through and that i shouldnt have to change the account number. I just recieved a notification that the account was closed out and is now negatively affecting my account. I called out and rep told me that i would need to reapply and that the funds were not taken from the checking account. Called back and reached out to a manager said pretty much the same thing but they would try and pull the call. I dont think that it is fair to treat a customer that was trying to let discover as a company that the account was compromised and tried giving account number to CLOSE the account out and negatively effect me. I told the manager on the phone that i have the new account number and routing number and was told that he would have to see what he could do. HORRIBLE first impression of a well known credit card company. I did what i needed to do to let the company know and they still dont have an answer for me and not wanting to help me. Next stop XXXX XXXX XXXX to file a complaint as well. Totally sad that i have to do this but i dont think that its right at all. This is all over a measly {$200.00} secured credit card that i wanted. Im willing to give the new account number and everything ... just sad!
