Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, XXXX, per my XXXX XXXX statement, Discover Card hit/posted my account ( ending in XXXX ) with a charge of {$230.00} from XXXX Car Rental, which I did not make, and submitted/attempted 7 times by the vendor and Declined 7 times by Discover because it had been attempted on a prior account ( ending in XXXX ) which had been cancelled in XXXX for reasons of Fraud. Nevertheless, eventually, Discover accepted the current charge to account XXXX from the vendor, paid the vendor, transferred the charge to XXXX closed Discover account XXXX to active Discover account XXXX and is now trying to collect it from me saying the vendor 'pushed ' it through even though they ( Discover ) declined it repeatedly. How can this possibly be? ... or even be allowed? The frustration I have gone through with Discover is beyond belief, not accepting responsibility for what happened. Discover should be reprimanded in the harshest way for a system that is allowing such a financial transaction being fraudulently passed on to a Consumer and on an Account they know is not responsible.

Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. sent me a letter that they had been retained by Discover card notice of opportunity to contact within 30 days to dispute the debt, and a statement they are a debt collector. The letter was delivered uncertified. I responded on XXXX/XXXX/2015. In that letter, I asked XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. to validate the date. The letter stated to respond to a specific Notary Public who would verify and validate receipt of said validation within 30 days. The letter was sent by certified mail and received by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. on XXXX/XXXX/2015. I pulled my credit report and saw that this debt had been charged off. I then was served with a lawsuit on XXXX/XXXX/2015 by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. regarding this matter. My issue this firm stated they were retained by Discover card. That claim is patently false, since the debt was charged off. If Discover Card was still pursuing this debt, it would not be at that status, so this firm has made a false statement regarding its disposition on this matter. Further, this firm has stated they are a debt collector further down in the letter, This indicates that they obtained this debt as third party debt collector. the statements made by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX in the letter are fraudulent and misleading, and intended to intimidate. Further XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX has extended this fraud into court.

Complaint: My mother is XXXX years old and has been XXXX ; she has a credit card with Discover and paid for the XXXX insurance with them for over 30 years. Because of her age and XXXX I am the legal power of attorney for her. We have contacted Discover numerous times to file the paperwork necessary to claim her XXXX insurance to pay her credit card bill and have given them a certified copy of the power of attorney. Discover received the claim and instead of contacting me, the power of attorney, they called her to obtain additional information and she told them she does n't have XXXX or any XXXX. Discover continues to collect funds she does not have and makes threatening phone calls because she ca n't pay her bill. Discover is now threatening legal action against an elderly XXXX woman who struggles to identify her own family let alone any credit card ( s ). On XXXX XXXX, we received a letter from Discover saying they are now going to turn this matter over to an attorney and take legal action on a woman who does not even know what year this is! We are asking for help to stop Discover 's predatory collections!

Complaint: I have been faithfully paying my Discover Loan since inception and had no issues until XXXX 2016 when Discover changed their payment system and locked me out of making a phone payment for about 10 days. That payment was made through their live customer service center. Every month I make my payment as usual ( {$500.00} on a {$470.00} payment ). I get harassing phone calls each month saying I did n't pay my bill, when I had proof from my bank that Discover did indeed withdraw {$500.00} each of these months through XXXX 2016. Now for some unknown reason, my balance has risen and Discover is not reporting my payment history properly, causing my XXXX Score to drop recently. I am assured each time they call that my account is being taken care of and that the matter will be resolved. It never is and I get another phone call. I pay in good faith and expect my payments to be credited properly. I have never had an issue with a lender in the past and am disappointed that I need to write this letter.

Complaint: I called Discover Bank to inquire about closing a Certificate of Deposit and the security representative asked me several " security '' questions about people I do n't know that are related to my ex-husband ( divorced 25 years ago ) but not to me. When I could not answer these questions they froze my accounts without telling me they were doing so. They did not send any notification to me by mail or e-mail that my accounts had been frozen or any notification that they suspected my accounts or security information had been compromised or that anyone had inquired about my accounts. So if someone really had tried to access my account, I would have never heard about it. They told me these questions were taken from Public Records. Presumably they are getting random information from web sites like XXXX and XXXX and using these for security. None of the questions were questions that I had set up as private security questions when I opened the account. Basically it seems to me that anyone who acquires public records information from one of these web sites can get access to your bank accounts at this bank. After some significant inconvenience, I was finally able to get my money, but I will not bank with Discover again since their security is extremely questionable if not downright fraudulent. I 've read that mining of public records data by banks is common practice now. I think this makes our money less secure, not more secure and is of no service to the customer.

Complaint: Discover Card sent me a letter saying I have been over my limit a couple months in a row, and because of this, they are increasing my minimum payment amount within the next 60 days. I am not past due and have not been past due. I thought credit cards stopped charging over limit penalties, they should just decline the charges.

Complaint: Dear Sir or Madam, I am having a huge issue with my Discover Credit Card. I have been a member since XXXX with outstanding credit and never missed a payment. I changed credit cards and during the transfer process Discover Card is billing me twice for the XXXX XXXX statement. They included the transfer balance of {$1000.00} on the XXXX XXXX Statement and showed that I paid it on XXXX XXXX, XXXX but also included it as purchases so they are billing me again for the balance of {$1000.00} on the XXXX Statement thus inflating the XXXX Statement to a {$1800.00} balance.
Since I discovered the issue ( which was right away as soon as I got the statement ), I have spoken to XXXX different people including XXXX supervisors who all claim that they see the issue and they will fix it. Guess what? No one has fixed anything. My balance is still inflated with a statement due in a couple of weeks with the wrong balance. Not to mention that I am shopping for a property and my credit is pulled by lenders who see a wrong inflated balance.
I am beyond frustrated with Discover Card, a company I thought was professional and had good controls regarding balance transfers. Every time I called, it was the same process. The main contact would transfer me to billing ( after keeping me on the phone for about 30 minutes ), then the billing admin would transfer me to a supervisor who would tell me after 45 minutes that they will need to further investigate. How much further investigation is necessary for a credit card leader such as Discover? I am a XXXX and to me it is very obvious : beginning balance + purchases - payments = the balance that I owe for the XXXX statement. However, Discover thinks the following formula is true : beginning balance + purchases - payments + purchases again = ending balance.
I really hope you can help me at this point because I really do not know what to do. Maybe actually showing up at their billing center and fixing the problem myself might be best? Please call or mail them a letter. They need to go ahead and not rob me of {$1000.00}. I am a single mom and am on a tight budget. This is what I call - taking advantage of the customer and I really do not appreciate it.
Please call me with any questions as far as if you need further details about my situation. My name is XXXX XXXX and my phone number is XXXX. Thank you for you help. I hope your organization will actually do their job unlike Discover Card.

Complaint: I have phone logs dating back to XXXX of XXXX calling in an excess of 6 times a week, many before before XXXX. The representative for their collections have been told repeatedly not to call but they continue to call.
