Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Complaint: On Wednesday, XXXX XXXX 2018 I decided to look at the APR on a longtime Discover card that I 've had. So I opened the statement online and then spent the next 20 minutes or so hunting for the APR to no avail. I 'm not computer illiterate by any means and was getting frustrated as the APR on the other couple of cards I have is plainly shown on the first page of the statement. So I called Discover Customer Service and was told by the CSR, that she would gladly transfer me to someone in the tech department so they could '' guide me through the screens '' to find this information. She, however, was able to tell me the APR within the first minute of the call. When I told her that was outrageous that as a consumer, I 'm not able to find this information readily and why? She then said she would pass my concern to management. After I got off the phone I sent Discover an email asking why APR 's are not readily accessible to me on MY statement and have yet to get any sort of response. But they sent me a survey immediately after the call asking for my opinion to which I responded negatively in every category. It never has been like this with Discover in all the years I 've had a card with them. I have literally never had an issue with them ever until now. What gives? Finding my APR should not be a secret ... it is n't with other major credit card companies. Why is Discover being so secretive?
I hope you can help me as I 'm ready to close the card and be done with Discover.

Problem during payment process
Complaint: When making payments to my Discover credit card, I initially set up my pay account information with an account number that I received when I first open my account several years ago. Over the years that card has been canceled out to the fraud or other reasons, and anytime I make a payment to that account number the payment does not reflect on my account and I am charge late fees and interest. When I called Discover they tell me that I need to update my banking information so that way the payment is applied to the correct account, however no other credit card company operates this way. At one point I made a payment of over $20,000 and discover did not know the payment has been received or that they had the money until I called them and inquired about it. It wasn’t until after they connected me to their fraud department and took a look at the old account number to where they realized they had been sitting on over $20,000 of my money, while charging me interest and late fees on the new account number. This particular instance happened about a year ago, but it is happened quite a few times since most recently a couple months ago. It is also happening on the current bill cycle because I called today and my payment had not been received.I don’t think it’s fair for a bank to receive such a large payment and apply it to an account that is not being monitored. If I make it A payment to the wrong account number I can understand they would say that’s my problem. However anytime I make a payment to a closed account and it has been converted into a new card number, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX XXXX are all able to figure out how to apply that payment automatically to the most recent account number. I believe Discover is doing something wrong by receiving payments on closed account numbers and not doing anything about notifying the consumer that they have received the money, are in possession of it, or are applying it to their account. There needs to be checks and balances for something like this.

Complaint: To Whom It May Concern : I am having issues with Discover card billing resolutions. It is probably one of the most incomptent department you can imagine.
I purchased the item on XX/XX/XXXX2017 from XXXX for XXXX Item was returned to XXXX using their prepaid XXXX label. Item was returned, however, XXXX did not give me any updates. Then I contacted them multiple times, they claimed that the box they received was empty. After confronting, and getting XXXX chat help involved, XXXX said it was not empty ; and XXXX then opened the case saying someone will respond to me in couple of days. I got no response. Then I tried again, the same thing happened. So I contacted Discover, asking to help me to resolve the issue. I got a lot of bubble gum, overly fake and sweet type of treatment, promising they are doing their best. Then few months later I found that the balance was higher than it supposed to be. Turns out the charge was reversed, and no notification was made by mail. So I had to contact them again, and re-explain the entire story. The case was reopened. Few days ago I checked again the account to see if there is nothing unusual, and I found again higher than normal balance. Turns out the charge was again placed back on my account. In dispute page it says 2nd review found the charge to be valid not sure how did they conduct the review. So I initiated again the chat with billing department. I got XXXX, if I am not mistaken, ( the same I dealt with at the start ) to talk to. She said she needs some proof with the weight. I had to reexplain the situation all over again. And I had to guide her to check my supporting documentation, which were a given XXXX label from XXXX and proof of delivery from the XXXX showing the weight. So I was told that oh they did not notice it because the weight information was so far on the bottom of the slip. According to previous rep- he already put the notes on this case before with the details. So I dont understand 2nd review found the charge to be valid without even looking into it?
Then on the top of that I was told that the billing rep would not be able to reopen the case for me, needs supervisor to look into it, and supervisor was not yet at work. I think I spoke with them around XXXX so OK. I contacted them next day, I was told its under review. It was XXXX. I asked if I can talk to supervisor myself, it only takes 30 seconds to check everything out. XXXX told me that supervisor is not working. I asked for hours of supervisor- turns out supervisor does not even work. No one knows when he works. Today its XXXX day still nothing. And they bill me higher minimum payments for this, report to credit bureaus higher balances, and charge the APR for this. This is completely unacceptable.
I attached the documents for a review for both CFPB as well as for Discover.

Complaint: I had a discover credit card and the company closed my account because I payment got returned due to NSF.. But what is mind blowing during the time the payment was made no payment was due and my account should have had a full positive balance. I disputed some transactions that were fraud and the claim was closed and all the monies was credit back to the account .... Discover should have never closed my account. I want either my XXXX security deposit returned to me immediately or a just like the letter the company sent saying that they have established a new account for me, but when I call they something different .... I would like for the account to be reinstated and a new card sent out to me immediately.

Complaint: Despite 2 former CFPB complaints, XXXX XXXX continues to report incorrect information regarding a balance owed to them.
I have attempted several times to contact XXXX XXXX at Discover. She declines to return my phone calls and will not respond to my letters.
Discover is reporting to all credit agencies that I have a balance of {$6000.00} that is past due and was charged off. I dispute this amount. Discover card, only through a letter in response to my former XXXX complaint states that I owe a balance of {$3400.00}. I want to know why they are reporting that I owe a balance of {$6000.00}. In fact at one time in 2013, they were reporting that I owed a balance of {$360000.00}.
I have contacted Discover and asked that they provide detailed information concerning the {$6000.00} balance that they continue to report. After 60 days I still have not received an explanation.

Complaint: " XXXX XXXX '' XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, 2017 XXXX XXXX XXXX CHN TERMINAL ID : XXXX XXXXXXXXXXXX CNY Amount charged in USD : {$570.00} I visited this location and purchased a minor item for XXXX as shown on the menu. I was over charged XXXX and was unable to dispute the transaction with the vendor, as they were unable to speak english.
I followed up with a call to my Credit Card, Discover IT, who placed the dispute.
The charge was then reversed when the vendor claimed I recieved and signed a reciept with an invoice of items purchased. A receipt copy was faxed to Discover and provided to me on the Discover website.
I tried then again, to dispute, as the amount was wrong from what I ordered and what I was billed. And the receipt given has a poorly forged signature imitating my name.
Upon contacting Discover repeatedly, and filing in house complaints. I 've received no further information on how to continue this dispute, and any discussion with the representatives at their line of business, state a complaint is filed and end the call prematurely, providing no resolution, or proof of resolution.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I purchased a subscription for the product " XXXX '' via XXXX, XXXX ( Vendor ). When making this initial purchase, I used an employer email address to which I no longer have access.
On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX, XXXX charged my credit card for another year of service. As I no longer worked at my employer, I was unable to consent or redact my consent for this charge from XXXX XXXX.
On XX/XX/XXXX Upon noticing the charge, I contacted XXXX XXXX via phone ; at ( XXXX ) XXXX who advised that though they could not find my account via email address, they could find it via the last four digits of the billed credit card. ( XXXX ). They advised at that time they would issue a refund.
On XX/XX/XXXX no refund was assigned to the account and as such I began a dispute resolution process with my credit card provider, Discover Bank. The dispute was resolved in my favor on XX/XX/XXXX and a credit issued to my card.
On XX/XX/XXXX Discover Bank reversed their decision, and abruptly charged my credit card for the initial amount without notice, and without any indication as to why Discover Bank changed its resolution decision even though Discover Bank previously rightly determined this charge clearly falls within their Dispute Resolution guidelines. Worse, the re-posted charge to my account had its post-date retroactively applied making the transaction difficult to track as clearly occuring on XX/XX/XXXX.

Complaint: XXXX Student loans sold many of my private loans to Discover. While looking at my credit report I see several " payments '' made to Discover that I never made, therein extending the reporting period on my credit report. These payments appear to be a direct result of the transfer between XXXX to Discover and therefore should not be represented on my credit report.
I have NEVER made a payment to Discover, so I tried contacting the company through XX/XX/XXXX and have made several complaints with the Better Business Bureau. To date Discover has not given me any information on the alleged " payment '' that were made by me through XX/XX/XXXX besides some graphs that could 've been made in XXXX XXXX. None of the items furnished even have an account number so it is impossible to link them to my account. I argued that if these payments were made Discover should be able to furnish proof of these payments via EFT confirmations, voided checks, etc however they refuse to give me any information.

Complaint: I am currently enrolled in an accredited XXXX 's in XXXX XXXX program as of XX/XX/XXXX. I completed a request for student loan deferment with my lender, Discover Student Loans, in XX/XX/XXXX and again in XX/XX/XXXX. I was denied both times without receiving any official notification. After calling 3 times, I was told that, although my institution is showing as accredited according to the US DOE database and the proper enrollment verification form was submitted, Discover would not approve in-school deferment because the institution is not Title IV eligible. However, this was not listed a requirement in the promissory note, or anywhere on the Discover website. Additionally, Title IV eligibility relates to financial aid, which is not relevant to this request, as I am not looking to take out an additional loan.
