Complaint: I received medical services in XXXX of XXXX. I gave XXXX my insurance information before seeing the doctor and made my co-pay. I received an annual exam which is covered by insurance. Over a year later, I received a bill in the mail from XXXX and learned that they had failed to timely bill my insurance and were now coming after me personally to pay them. Over the course of that year, my insurance provider ( through my employer ) had changed. I informed them of the error and let them know that they needed to bill my former insurance, or write it off, because it was their billing error and these were covered services. I had no idea that they sent it to collections instead. I never received a notice or option to dispute from " CALIFORNIA BUSINESS BUR '' who now shows on my credit report.

Complaint: I thought I was paying a debt I owed to the a state of California agency. This caused distress as I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX. I paid the debt not realizing that it was actually a debt collection company for medical debt. The name California Business Bureau is very misleading and is purposefully intended to trick consumers and pressure them into paying by associating itself as a state agency or credit bureau. Pursuant to Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ) Opinion Letters XXXX ( XXXX ) and XXXX ( XXXX ), CALIFORNIA BUSINESS BUREAU, is in violation of Section 807 ( 16 ) of the FDCPA which states " a debt collector may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation or means in connection with the collection of any debt. '' This company is engaging in capricious activity and attempting to mislead consumers by associating itself with the state of California and as a credit bureau.

Complaint: I received notification from a home lender that I have a collection account on my credit from California Business Bureau for {$590.00}. I called the California Business Bureau to learn what the account was for. I did not have knowledge of the account. They told me that it was a remaining balance from a XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX in 2014. They also stated that the balance had now gone from {$590.00} to {$750.00}. I called the same day the credit report was issued. California Business Bureau said that {$590.00} was the principal balance, and the additional charges was interest placed by California Business Bureau. I called XXXX XXXX XXXX to confirm that this was accurate. XXXX XXXX XXXX informed me that the principal balance was {$290.00}. The original balance was {$590.00}, however I paid {$310.00} on the day of XXXX. Leaving {$290.00} remaining. I then called my insurance to confirm that the patient responsibility being claimed by XXXX was correct. They said that the patient responsibility had been fulfilled and no other payment was due. I then called California Business Bureau again, and explained the descreency between my insuracne company, the hospital and them. They told me I was wrong, and to quote XXXX XXXX ( who I spoke to ) I was " full of XXXX. '' I suggested more than once that I would pay the true balance of {$290.00} declared by XXXX XXXX XXXX that was sent to California Business Bureau, including their interest. They declined, and only would allow me to pay their stated about of {$750.00}. They continued to claim that I was lying. I offered XXXX to have a call with me and XXXX XXXX XXXX so we could collectively get to the bottom of the true balance owed. She declined.

Complaint: This complaint is about XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, California. These evil vermin saw me a year ago at their ER. They essentially read my XXXX XXXX and sent me home. The bill was over {$4200.00}, for a XXXX XXXX reading! This did not include any actual 'service ', that was all billed separately. Being post-XXXX America, and because I have the audacity to work for a living, I got bills from half a dozen different agencies. Despite attempts to make equal payments to all associated vultures, one slipped through the cracks. After 30 days without a payment these creeps sent me to a XXXX collection agency that is demanding usurious interest. The XXXX XXXX in their receivables department now refuses to work with me to get the account in good standing. Any patient not in immediate life threatening condition should avoid this place at all costs. Better to grab some cash and head to XXXX. They are a den of thieves and thugs. I can not believe this happens in America.

Complaint: I disputed this debt with the credit bureaus and directly with the collection agency via certified mail. At no time did I receive any documentation that legally verifies this debt. I have not even received correspondence from this company at all except for the original letter. Congress states that the only legal verification is the physical documentation that was filled out when this account was opened and this documentation was never sent to me. In addition, I 'm pretty certain that a company can not just state that the debt is mine, or else anyone can state that anyone owes them money. Where 's the proof and why ca n't this company produce it? I never stated it was identity theft, I never stated that it was n't mine. What I am stating is that I do not recall this debt and that I know my rights in regards to items reporting on my credit report : they must all be legally verified.
