Trouble during payment process

Mortgage: Conventional home mortgage

Complaint: Issue : Setting up recurring payments with Caliber Home Loans I closed on my new home on XX/XX/2019. XXXX XXXX transferred my loan to Caliber Home Loans. Every month, I have tried to set up recurring payments via the company 's website but every month I receive an error message that I can't set up my recurring payment until next month. I called Caliber 's customer service today ( XX/XX/XXXX ) to ask how to set up recurring payments. They told me I would need to wait until my next manual payment is processed ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and I'll then be able to set up the recurring payment anytime from XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. My complaints are as follows : 1 ) I should be able to set up automatic payments at any point in time in order to avoid missing a payment on my mortgage. 2 ) If Caliber is to keep this " window of opportunity '' there should be a notification of the window of opportunity on the company 's website when I go to arrange recurring payments. Otherwise, only seeing that I can sign up " next month '' makes it look like the company is trying to make me miss my next payment. I am trying to meet my obligation and should be able to do so easily. Caliber is not making it easy to meet my obligation.

Struggling to pay mortgage

Mortgage: Other type of mortgage

Complaint: Ive been working with my mortgage company, Caliber, since XXXX to modify my home loan due to an increased burden on my budget for a situation Ill describe below. During the process Caliber advised I stop making payments to show a need for modification. I spent weeks making sure they have the correct paperwork, cancelled my autopay, and spent hours on the phone with their single point of contact reps. They approved a modification in mid-XXXX and the new payment would be due for XXXX, approximately {$50.00} less than my existing payment per month. I sent all the docs back to them, signed and notarized, confident and happy that the process was finally over and I could move forward. I noticed that my check hadnt been cashed so I called in early XXXX. I was told the documents and check were received late ( held up in the mail or at caliber? ) and I was told the loan modification offer had been cancelled by USDA. I was extremely upset, honestly panicked, and spoke with several people that day including someone in upper management named XXXX XXXX. He was very sympathetic to the situation and assured me that he was working directly with Calibers VP, who was personally aware of my situation, to either redo the loan modification or find out if USDA could make an exception ; XXXX said to call him back in a week and noted he would be in touch. We spoke a couple times on the phone since he gave me his direct number. Weeks went by and I couldnt get my calls returned after leaving several voicemail messages. As advised by Caliber, I continued to not make payments during this process despite being concerned about how it would likely affect my credit. Ive talked to reps via the single point of contact number and sent secure messages through the website. I hadnt heard anything for weeks and was extremely anxious and worried. The last rep I spoke with, on XX/XX/2019 ( after leaving another voicemail for XXXX that day ), assured me that the loan was being modified and was with the underwriters ... apparently the rep got in touch with XXXX or reviewed his notes in my file. I was temporarily reassured and have been patiently waiting, trusting that Caliber was doing everything correctly and in my best interest. Yesterday I pulled up to my house and found pages of foreclosure notices taped to my door. The legal jargon and threats of foreclosure are difficult to interpret and there are numbers to contact, but Im totally confused how it got to this point and overwhelmed trying to figure out how to navigate solving the issue. I dont know what to do and am lost as to how to correct this since I cant get any info from Caliber. My understanding, according to the paperwork taped to my door, is that I need to pay my back-owed payments, approximately {$9500.00}, in the next 30 days, in addition to new fees they are assessing in the amount of approximately {$1100.00} ( which in itself is fraudulent in my opinion ). This is an excessive financial burden as a single mother at this time as I am also currently paying an attorney thousand of dollars for legal issues to help my children due to abuse and neglect by my ex husband, their father - we are still in the middle of a legal battle and I expect I will owe my attorney at least another $ XXXX before the end of the year. Ive always made my house payments in a timely manner and never defaulted until I was told, by Caliber, to stop paying during the process this is now a nightmare. The irony is that I wouldnt have been expected to pay a few months of payments had the loan modification gone through and finalized, so some of what theyre saying I owe is money that wouldnt have been due when I started making my new payment on the modified loan. Additionally, I sent a check with the signed paperwork that should have been cashed as the initial payment for what would have been the new loan. It has not been cashed at this time. I need assistance and guidance as quickly as possible please. Thank you.

Struggling to pay mortgage

Complaint: I was impacted by a FEMA declared disaster " Hurricane Irma '' and my home was in the disaster area. XXXX XXXX ( the former servicer ) placed me on a 6 month disaster forbearance with promise of doing a streamline disaster modification at the end since I had a fannie mae loan. Since my property insurance did not pay anything because our home was not damaged significantly but had enough damage to put us behind with out of pocket expenses from power loss, loss of food, trees fallen, debris everywhere, siding damage, the insurance company raised the deductible to 5 % of total value of the home at about {$10000.00} and my damage was under that amount so it was all out of pocket on a fixed income. I used the money to recover from the disaster. My wife and I are US XXXX veterans who both served in war in XXXX. We were never late on our mortgage payments and were current for years and was current at the time of the disaster in XXXX. At the end of the 6 months XXXX extended the forbearance for an additional 6 months for a total of 12 months per XXXX XXXX my current investor at the time. ( I am including the FEMA declarations and the FEMA disaster forbearances XXXX placed me on. ) The second FEMA disaster forbearance ended on XX/XX/XXXX. We were hit by Hurricane Michael declared by FEMA on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX was in process of trying to find out if I should be placed on another disaster forbearance or should they proceed with the disaster modification. I spoke to them on XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ), XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX ( Mrs XXXX ) who confirmed my file was submitted to XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and they were still waiting on a response. Then on XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ) he said it was still in review. On XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ) she said it was still in review and I need to wait. They all said this was a special situation since we were hit by back to back hurricanes and they were trying to decide how to handle it. On XX/XX/XXXX ( XXXX XXXX and supervisor XXXX XXXX ) both said it was still in review and to wait. Well I received a Notice of Servicing transfer dated XX/XX/XXXX and from that point they said I need to speak to the new servicer. No one from XXXX told me they were going out of business or that my loan was being sold and not just service transferred. I received a notice stating my loan was being sold on XX/XX/XXXX.

Struggling to pay mortgage

Mortgage: FHA mortgage

Complaint: I applied for a loan modification which was temporarily approved for 3 mos. The payments were being submitted as agreed. I attempted to make the 3rd and final payment but it was declined. Caliber Home Loans stated that they discovered a title lien on my property. I advised them that it was not me. My temporary modification was revoked. I did my part and reached out to the lawyer offices and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. All companies involved agreed and stated that it wasn't me. However, Caliber Home Loans didn't take the time to investigate or contact anyone. They wanted me to produce a letter from a law firm stating the above. The law office in turn stated that for legality purposes they couldn't produce a letter since I wasn't a client and the mortgage company is well aware of this fact. The law office stated that all Caliber needed to do was call them to verify that I was not the person listed in the judgement. I resubmitted several loan modifications and an appeal which was denied. I was only given the option for a short sale or deed in lieu foreclosure. At this point, my home is about to foreclose simply bc of an error and someone failed to do their job. I'm currently working with a law firm who has verified that the lien isn't mine and helping me with some options.

Trouble during payment process

Mortgage: Conventional home mortgage

Complaint: In XX/XX/2019 I asked a Caliber Home Loans customer service representative about removing my PMI, from a conventional home loan that I have through them. She informed me that one of the options was to get the house reappraised using their appraiser, and if the LTV ratio was below 80 % it would be removed. After paying Caliber for the appraisal, they sent me a letter telling me that I was at a 76 % LTV ratio, but then told me that it needed to below 75 %, so I now needed to pay more money ... Upon calling in and speaking to a representative I was just told that the LTV ratio now needed to be below 65 %. I feel like they are just taking advantage of me for not refinancing, which they try and convince me to do on an almost weekly basis at this point. Oh and another thing, we've never missed or been late on a payment.
