Complaint: Received a notice in the mail on XX/XX/2019 from Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC for a debt of XXXX. I called XXXX and spoke with a representative who explained this debt was from 5 years ago for a payday loan. I explained to the representative that I would be willing to settle the account with them for XXXX The representative needed to request approval from her supervisor and placed me on hold. When she came back on the line she advised me that they would be willing to settle and close the account for XXXX. I agreed and she took my payment over the phone providing me with confirmation number XXXX. She advised they would be sending me a letter confirming the debt had been paid and I would receive it in the mail. I checked my credit report and noticed the debt had been removed from my history.Unexpectedly onXX/XX/2019 I received a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX requesting XXXX for the balance owed to Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC. Infuriated that Jefferson would say they were settling with me only to sell the remainder of the balance to another debt collector I contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and spoke with XXXX. I explained to her the situation and asked her if they could review my call with Jefferson to see that I was told the debt would be settled. She placed me on hold and stated her manager was going to work with Jefferson and I would receive a call back. The XXXX is now showing up on my credit report and decreased my credit score! I didnt hear anything back from this company, so todayXX/XX/2019 I called XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX again at XXXX requesting an update and the representatives are telling me they cannot locate an account for me. This debt of XXXX has significantly decreased my credit score and I want it removed! Please help me! I feel helpless.

Complaint: I originally had a loan with XXXX XXXX that was ultimately sold to Jefferson Capitol. As the account neared 7 years maturation and about to be eligible to drop off my credit report, Jefferson Capitol re-aged my account and put it on my credit report as being delinquent as of 2017 starting the clock over as to when it would mature and come off my credit report. I emailed and called Jefferson Capitol and only got unfulfilling answers and no response to my emails. The account was previously removed and Jefferson Capitol readded it without proper notification and reached the account which violates the law.

Complaint: The debt is past the statute of limitations. The company : Jefferson Capital Systems , LLC XXXX XXXX, MN XXXX Also XXXX XXXX in XXXX : Jefferson Capital Systems , LLC XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, IL XXXX Another XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, MN XXXX After the debt was removed from my credit report due to it being past the statute of limitations which completed on XX/XX/2019. They send me a validation letter that is postmarked XX/XX/XXXX, yet the letter is dated XX/XX/2019. First, this letter needs to be sent within the first 5 days, not after the debt was removed from my credit report. Second, they purposely dated the letter XX/XX/2019 in order to try and deny me my full 30 days to dispute or request validation. Within the letter, they indicate they will sue to obtain a judgment on a debt removed from my credit report based on the statute of limitations. They claim they can garnish wages make a report to the credit bureau.
