Written notification about debt

Debt collection: Medical debt

Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Complaint: I was XXXX years old and still under my mother 's care. Now knowing she never had health insurance for me and was not giving me any of my bills, I as a young adult, knew nothing of most of these debts. I never received correspondence or the right to dispute. I had serious, chronic health issues as a young adult and am now- 5 years later recieving relentless calls from blocked and out of states numbers. 2 times they never disclosed they were debt collectors and refused to stop calling me while I was at work. I contacted one back and began a payment plan with them. At first they refused to take less than XXXX dollars a month- I am a XXXX XXXX college student and living on my own. I told them the very most I could do was XXXX and have been paying it for a year with no correspondence of my current balance. No one ever mentioned I could dispute it or could send me an itemized bill- some of the bills are over 7 years old!!

Incorrect information on your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Information belongs to someone else
Complaint: ACSI is reporting incorrect information about me to all 3 credit bureaus, as of XX/2017. On XXXX XXXX,2017 ACSI sends me a letter indicating I owe money for a student loan the following day I replied that I do not any 'student loan ' because a ) I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX b ) I have not gone to school since XXXX grade, c ) I am completely/fully retired. But they still reported me to the credit bureaus prior to contacting me first which is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Subsequent to their illegal reporting my credit score went from a XXXX fico score to a XXXX fico score and I am currently buying a house which will directly affect my interest rate. What ACSI is illegal and they need to be hold accountable.

Dealing with your lender or servicer

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: XXXX originated the loan in XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX Then, XXXX XXXX went bust. They at some point sold the loan to XXXX XXXX, out of Colorado XXXX XXXX has sent the loans to collections via ACSI, who is threatening to retain my tax refunds. XXXX never notified me of default. XXXX XXXX never provided due diligence/process of reconciliation, forbearance, repayment options etc. This ACSI outfit, whose mailing is labeled from XXXX, OR, and Kentucky, but call center in Tennessee is the slimiest debt collection institution. The threats and harassment, especially of stealing tax returns is blatant. Obviously their debt was acquired through completely deranged and incorrect channels. XXXX failed to offer due process of loan recovery, as did XXXX XXXX. I have disputed the validity of the debt to asci. The operators at their institution asked me for my full social security number, which I found to be a fraudulent method of verifying identity. I explained repeatedly that I believe their collection to be invalid and illegal, and will only verify by yes or no the information they may have on file, but will not be providing my full social security to them. They mentioned today repeatedly being concerned about them potentially being sued for fraud. I elxplained to them that they should be concerned, as they are in fact attempting to collect a debt not originated by them. Essentially, they are parasites, exploiting loopholes in student lending laws, targeting specific individuals in the population, harassing me and others and threatening to steal tax refund. They may not be obligated to abide by student lending laws, but they are obligated and under duress of law to practice legal debt collection ( s ) i.e. Offering resolution, due process. At no point was any effort made by any of the three involved institutions to resolve the debt according to either student loan lending laws, or economic/debt collection laws. During last conversation, XX/XX/XXXX. They alleged to have placed collection in dispute and suspend collection effort. When asked to clarify what exactly " dispute '' means, representative of ACSI stated that master promissory note would be sent to me.

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt was paid
Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, XXXX I paid a debt owed to my previous apartment complex because my current leasing company would not rent to me until the debt had been satisfied in full. It was somewhere around {$1800.00}. I do n't remember the exact amount. I paid via money order which I do not have a copy of as this was years ago and I did n't think that I would need it. I am currently looking to move as my lease is up and I saw the same debt had been sent to collections. As stated, I do not have a receipt but I do have e-mail correspondence between my current leasing company and I from XXXX XXXX when this debt was satisfied that states they could not rent to me until they received verification from my old apartment complex that the debt was paid in full. I also have the e-mails stating that they received that verification and that my application had since been approved. The debt collector that I am dealing with is refusing to take this off of my credit report unless I have an actual receipt. There is no way that I can re-generate a receipt that I no longer have and they are stating that they refuse to accept anything else to show the debt has been satisfied. I am a single mother with a XXXX year old child and no one will rent to me with this being on my credit report and I absolutely refuse to pay it again. Can you please help? I was advised by an Attorney that they must accept other forms of correspondence. Thank you.

Can't repay my loan

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Can't get flexible payment options
Complaint: Dear Sir/Madam : I continuously receive threatening letters of garnishment from ACSI - XXXX although I provided them with sufficient documentation that my average monthly debt exceeds my disposable income. Since I did not provide receipts for Food, Clothing, and Misc., they credited me {$120.00} per month. I am a family of XXXX. It is unreasonable to think a family of XXXX could survive off of {$120.00} per month for food, clothing, and misc. items. Today, I provided them with receipts for the month of XXXX and asked that they reconsider their decision. I also made an offer for a payment plan of {$50.00} per month. Having XXXX dependents, It would be extreme financial hardship to have 15 % of my pay garnished. Thank you for taking the time to look into this matter.

Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed

Debt collection: I do not know

Debt is not mine
Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, 2016 I began receiving up to three calls daily from what I believe is XXXX/ASCI Collection Services ( www.acsi-collections.com ). In the past month I have logged nearly fifty calls from eleven different phone numbers with similar calling patterns. To date, no call has ever left an intelligible voice message. I 've resorted to whitelisting contacts in my address book. As described on their own website, this company 's calling infrastructure is fully automated and allegedly makes up to XXXX unsolicited calls every day. I 'm complaining because I 'm almost certain that the debt in question is a case of mistaken identity. I have incurred no significant debts, past or present, and my credit score is excellent ( XXXX ). This company boasts about its ability to harass debtors and does n't bother to identify itself or provide contact information when they call.

Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed

Debt collection: I do not know

Debt is not mine
Complaint: There is a collection account on my credit report that I have continuously disputed because it is completely inaccurate. I do not owe the amount reported, and the collection agencies can not provide any evidence to prove and/or verify the account. The account keeps being transferred from one agency to another, with no accountability, while severely damaging my credit ( and my ability to refinance my home ) and creating a financial hardship by reducing my income. In the last year, this account has changed from XXXX to XXXX to Automated Collections to the current holder, XXXX. I have sent letters by certified mail asking all of these agencies to verify this debt, and they have not. Automated Collection/XXXX is not only reporting this inaccurate account on all three of my credit reports, but they are also intercepting any federal payment to me. They have reduced my XXXX income and they also withheld my federal tax refund. As of Tuesday, XXXX XXXX, 2016, a staff member from Automated Collection, XXXX, stated that they have my case in dispute and they will respond in writing in a few weeks. This is unbelievable and completely unacceptable! I still have n't received a response to date. I retired from my job for health reasons and this is creating a serious financial hardship. This is not my account! Following my series of disputes to the credit bureaus, I finally received a letter from XXXX XXXX last XXXX stating that they could not verify the account ( please see attached ), and would return the account back to the original creditor and delete it from my credit files. To date, it is still on my report, which is the account transferred to and now reported by XXXX. The credit bureaus keep sending me responses that this account has been verified, although neither XXXX XXXX nor XXXX ( or any of the other collection agencies ) can verify it, and despite my sending them a copy of the attached letter confirming this fact. During the first week of XXXX, I contacted both Automated Collection Inc. and XXXX again, and received the usual runaround. On the morning of XXXX XXXX, XXXX, an XXXX staff member, informed me that XXXX sent an email on my behalf to Automated Collection Services on XXXX XXXX, 2016, asking them to release the intercepted Federal payments, including our income tax refund, and said they are waiting for a response from Automated Collection Services. I never receive any responses or updates, while my credit continues to suffer and my income continues to be unjustly taken from me! I urgently request your help and assistance, as I have written several letters and made several calls, to no avail.

Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: To Whom It May Concern, I was garnished again for 15 % of my paychecks for XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/2016 by Automated Collection Services , Inc. in XXXX, TN. I did not receive notice of garnishment from ACSI, and the garnishment took be by complete surprise. I repeatedly told ACSI reps that I could not afford the amount of this garnishment. I even faxed over financial records showing that I could not pay essential bills ( rent, utilities, etc. ). ACSI and I then had a written agreement with ACSI to have my garnishment reduced to 5 %. However, I contacted my payroll department this morning and the director of payroll replied they did not receive a fax from ACSI for this reduction, and I was garnished at approximately XXXX % again. As I have tried futilely to discuss with their reps, I can not afford the amount at which I am being garnished. It is crippling me financially, rendering me unable to pay my essential bills. I contacted ACSI and I was transferred to someone calling herself XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX mocked me. After telling her I was being crippled financially by the garnishment, she said then I could pay the full balance in lump sum or settle for thousands of dollars. Well, if I ca n't afford to pay hundreds of dollars, how can I pay tens of thousands of dollars at one time? Why would someone representing a company mock someone who is financially destitute? Is it common practice by companies to tell people who can not afford to pay hundreds of dollars each month to tell them that they can pay tens of thousands in a lump sum which the representative would know that that person can not pay it? The only reason to say such a thing is to mock and humiliate a financially destitute person. Second, they claim they can not relinquish the garnishment. However, they have that option ( as evidenced by a complaint that was resolved on the XXXX website and by common sense -- they hold the debt -- no one is forcing them to garnish me at the rate they are ). I have no problem making payments, but not at the amount they are demanding. I simply can not afford it. Plus, I offered to consolidate the loan with my other loans which are in good standing. They refused because they told me that because they had the garnishment they did not have to. Had I received a notice of garnishment, I would have been aware of the debt, which I assumed to be in good standing with my other student loans ( that is the only reason it went delinquent ). And, thus, I would have contacted XXXX ( the originator of the loan ) or ACSI and handled it before being garnished. From my understanding, I am supposed to have received a notice of garnishment, and I also do not think that belittling consumers for not being able to pay is something that ACSI 's employees have the right to do.

Don't agree with fees charged
Complaint: My school loan went into collections a few years ago, XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) was the first to contact me in XXXX XXXX after my bankruptcy closed a few months earlier. I have since made arrangements with them for repayment. I was also contacted numerous times by mail, phone and even my work place from ACSI ( Automated Collection Services , Inc ) which started about 2 months after XXXX contacted me. ACSI had NO accurate, up to date information on me, I had requested multiple times by phone, in writing for information on the loan they claimed to be collecting on-I never received any return calls or emails with this information. In XXXX XXXX I received a notice for wage garnishment from ACSI, I filled out the forms asking for a hearing, mailed back to them certified return receipt XX/XX/XXXX, they received it, but I have not received ANY updates or contact from them since. About a week after I sent the garnishment forms back a NEW collection agency-XXXX sent me a letter claiming to be collecting on the same exact loan as ACSI and threatening to take my federal tax return-again NO confirmation of the loan information. Both ACSI and Performant claim it is from XXXX XXXX XXXX ( I consolidated my loans with them after completing 1 year in school ) In contacting XXXX XXXX XXXX it was brought to my attention that ONLY XXXX handles the collections for XXXX XXXX XXXX. My Federal return for filing year XXXX has been confiscated with no advanced notice of this happening. I have not heard from ACSI or XXXX regarding any collections processes since XXXX, I have never received any confirming information on the loan they claim to be collecting on, the amount they claim I owe is equal to 5 years in school ... I went into a certificate program which was 1 year.
