Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: I consolidated my Direct Loan in XX/XX/XXXX. They were my loan servicer for many years and I made my regular payments on time. The loans got assigned to XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. I again made all of my regular payments. I am in the PSLF program so I had to transfer my loans to fedloan servicing. I kept meticulous records so when I asked for a summary of my payments that counted toward PSLF they were short many payments. They claimed that several payments occurred while I was unknowingly receiving a deferment so I filled out the paperwork and had those removed. My statements from XXXX throughout the first 6 months of XXXX showed 72 qualifying payments. In XX/XX/XXXX after they received my employment certification the monthly bill showed that I had made 84 qualifying payments. On XXXX XXXX, XXXX my bill now showed that I only had made 50 qualifying payments. No explanation was given. I called fedloan and they said it was a computer glitch and it would be fixed in 60 days. It was not. After many phone calls they finally said that it would be fixed in XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a statement from them verifying that I had only made 65 payments with no explanation and no dates of the payments that didn't qualify, just a summary of my work experience and the total number of qualifying payments. After examining the document it appears that only XXXX payment from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX counts toward PSLF, even though I made nearly two years of payments during that time. No reason was given. On the XX/XX/XXXX billing statement the 65 PSLF payments were reduced to 56 qualifying payments. Again no reason was given for the discrepancy. I have contacted them but their customer service agents did not have any answers. I tried to get a manager in the department that could help me but I was told they don't take phone calls. I am within two years of having my loans forgiven so I can only assume they are deliberately taking these payments away. Fortunately I have kept the necessary records and sending those in to you so that you can correct this. After researching XXXX online many other borrowers are having the same issues with missing payments so I believe this is a fraudulent practice and they should be removed as a servicer. I am attaching a summary of the payments to XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) and the fedloan summary. I am not sure which of the XXXX payments they took away that was previously approved by XXXX. While researching I found two additional payments that they missed before, the {$220.00} payment on XX/XX/XXXX to Direct Loans and the {$390.00} payment to XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX bringing the new total to 30 payments they are trying to take from my qualification. I am sending the documentation for those. As fedloan hasnt told me which of the other payments they are not counting I am sending their own summary of the payments that qualified previously with the documentation removing the deferments/forbearance that allowed those payments to qualify.

Account status incorrect
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX AES reported my student loan account ( s ) Federal and Private, over 30 days past due for my XX/XX/XXXX payment. I received a notification from one of my credit cards and immediately called AES to inquiry and dispute. The AES representative confirmed that she did not see my XX/XX/XXXX payment paid after 30 days. She advised that I would need to write a letter to have it reviewed. I followed instructions and wrote a detailed letter. AES responded by advising there was an error back in XX/XX/XXXX that they would adjust, but nothing for the XX/XX/XXXX reporting. I've worked hard over the past year to keep my account current and that negative mark reported in XX/XX/XXXX dropped my score by 30 points. I need my account payment history reviewed from XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX and updated correctly. .

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: I have struggled with determining how much I owe to AES. I have two loans : 1. XXXX XXXX ( {$77000.00} due ) 2. XXXX XXXX ( {$3000.00} due ) When I log on to the account, I can not determine which loan payments apply to which accounts. I can not view the details for both loans. When I called two months ( XX/XX/XXXX ) ago to alert them to the problem, they said they would fix it, apologized for the debt calls, and told me I was up to do date. Since that time, I have made 3 payments : XX/XX/XXXX - XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX - XXXX The amounts vary from the monthly due amount because their online system always states that I owe a late fee. I received a debt collection call that I was XXXX past due. I knew this could not be true because I was told in XX/XX/XXXX that I was up to date. Since XX/XX/XXXX, I have made {$650.00} dollars in payments. I logged on to see how much I owed. It is unclear because the 2 loans are not reflected in the correct place. The AES customer service employee told me to " disregard '' the summary at the top and just focus on the " payment '' portion. I did. However, the payment history does not accurately show how much I have paid. For the XXXX XXXX account, it does not show a payment history at all. I scrolled to the bottom. I tried to pull up the paper/pdf bills. They both are labeled " XXXX XXXX : and only one contains a pdf/ The only pdf is for the XXXX XXXX account. i am not able to view the XXXX XXXX bill at all. The customer service person hung up on me when I asked for more details. I called back, and I was disconnected. I am very frustrated. I am just trying to pay the bill, but I would like the account to accurately reflect the amounts paid and applied to the correct loans. I want to resolve this, but I can not do so if I have no way of determining the amount owed, past amounts paid, and what amounts were applied to which account. Please help me determine the following : - A full accounting of each loan for one year ( XXXX XXXX- XX/XX/XXXX ). - Corrected online information for accurate viewing, paying, and bill summary.

Complaint: XXXX XXXX ( " XXXX '' ) has consistently and willfully failed to update my information to major credit reporting bureaus within a timely manner. They have failed to update in XX/XX/2018 and failed to include my monthly payments on my credit report. This has led me to be denied for several mortgage loans strictly because of XXXX 's inability to furnish timely and accurate information to the credit bureaus. My monthly payment should be listed at {$160.00} instead of {$0.00}.

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: I signed up for Income Driven Repayment in XX/XX/XXXX. At the time I was told that my repayment term would be 122 months by XXXX XXXX XXXX, my loan servicer. This information was confirmed online via my account. The repayment terms showed as 122 months when I viewed my loan details online. I submitted the recertification form on XX/XX/XXXX. When I logged into my account online I became alarmed when I saw that the repayment term was still listed at 122 months. I called into the customer service and spoke to XXXX ( employee ID number XXXX ). She explained that the information on my online account was incorrect and was incorrect for any person signed up for income based repayment. My repayment term is actually 300 months. I asked why their phone system directed me to view my account online for my loan details when they weren't correct. She did not have an answer. I am glad I caught this mistake because I was looking at paying over an extra {$92000.00} in interest if I stayed on this payment plan. The standard 10 payment plan payment is only {$8.00} more every month. I believe that the misinformation provided by XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX is willful and on a wide scale. I believe that they should be accountable to provide accurate information about the repayment term to account holders in their online account since they encourage the use of the online account in order to obtain information.

Don't agree with the fees charged
Complaint: XXXX XXXX has taken over 4 of my loans and I have been making monthly payments since XX/XX/XXXX. My payments started out at {$220.00} and now they have doubled and just increased again. This is outrageous as a single mother living/working in one of the most expensive areas in the United States. I am suppose to be on the 120 payment plan meaning that I have 87 more payments to make and my loans should be paid off, but 3 of my loans are showing that I still have 97 more payments. So the XXXX XXXX is taking 10 extra payments from me with no prior acknowledgment? This is outrageous especially for a person who has consistently paid them each and every month since XX/XX/XXXX even at their outrageous repayment options that make it difficult to afford day to day expenses. My 4th loan they have is also my largest loan amount with the highest interest rate. This loan started at {$20000.00} and is now at {$21000.00}. I feel like they have purposely taken my payments and applied them to the loans with the lesser interest, thereby causing my 4th loan to increase and forcing me to owe more money. The XXXX was contacted on XX/XX/XXXX and they corresponded with XXXX XXXX on my behalf. XXXX XXXX only responded that a formal response will be sent because a Consumer Relationship Analyst Team is diligently researching this issue and the XXXX complaint was marked unresolved. I still have not received anything in the mail from them. I think this is funny because it only took XXXX XXXX one week to recalculate my new increased payment amount but they still haven't contacted me regarding my complaint.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Approximately XX/XX/XXXX/XX/XX/2018 I requested from the federal student loan servicing to change my payments so that it reflects correctly on my credit report. Currently on my credit report it has me as having to make a payment of $ XXXX/month once I'm out of forbearance. Because I only make $ XXXX/year this has resulted in me getting denied a consolidation loan for my credit cards due to a high debt to income. I contacted federal student loan about this. They said I would have to enter the repayment status, then pay {$5.00}, then they would put me back in forbearance and then report to the credit bureaus that my payments would be $ XXXX/month. I did everything as said and it still says {$3000.00} on my credit report. They said it would reflect the {$400.00} by XX/XX/XXXX. Last week I had to call again because then I received an email saying I had to pay {$400.00} by XX/XX/XXXX. They fixed this one I called and told me that they would submit the request for the {$400.00} to be reflected on my credit report but now I have to wait until XX/XX/XXXX for it to show. But in the meantime I'd get a letter stating this {$400.00} that I can give to the bank to appeal the denial of the consolidation loan. I got the letter and where it has payment it says TBD. This is not going to help me at all!!! I've done everything I was supposed to do and still nothing. I don't have time to wait another month for this.

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: On XX/XX/2018, I sent in my most recent PSLF Employment Certification form. With this form, XXXX XXXX should have calculated that I have made 68 qualifying payments toward the 120 payments needed for public service loan forgiveness. Unfortunately, XXXX XXXX is so bad at their job that they calculated that I had made 61 qualifying payments - despite the fact that my job has not changed, my loan has not changed, and my repayment plan has not changed. On multiple occasions, I have reached out to XXXX XXXX to inform them of their error and asked them to correct it. To date, they have done nothing. Moreover, they have failed to respond to my multiple emails. When I get them on the phone, they say they will look into it. XXXX XXXX is the most incompetent student loan servicer on the market. Congress should investigate. Student loan holders should avoid them.

Don't agree with the fees charged
Complaint: In XX/XX/2007 I took out a loan via a local bank, which is affiliated with American Education Services. Since receiving this loan I have tried my best to repay the loan. I am unhappy with the fact that the interest which is calculated at a daily rate keeps climbing. My original loan was {$16000.00}. So far I have paid {$7600.00} towards the principal and {$7400.00} in interest. That is a total of {$15000.00}, yet my balance owed is {$10000.00}. The calculated daily interest rate is what is used to keep you indebted long term as it keeps climbing, my current interest rate is 7.75 %. Why is this kind of unethical " practice '' legal, and what can I do? It's absolutely ridiculous that lenders can steal from borrowers as that is precisely what they are doing when they keep hiking up interest rates to keep you indebted. I do pay on my loans to the best of my ability in the hope of reaching the finish line of being student loan/debt free. But at this rate it is almost impossible when the lenders are allowed to sink their theiving fangs into people like myself who are trying to rid myself of the modern mob bosses who have free reign to do as they please to exploit the poor.
