Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt is not yours
Complaint: I received two notices in the U.S. mail from Wilber & Associates, P.C., XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, IL XXXX. This company states they represent XXXX XXXX company, and are contacting me to pay XXXX XXXX {$1200.00}. They refer to File # : XXXX ; Online Access Key : XXXX ; " Our Client : '' XXXX XXXX ; Client Claim Number:XXXX ; Claim Location : XXXX , CA . I immediately called XXXX XXXX. After speaking with XXXX XXXX at XXXX, and three other XXXX employees, who all agreed there was no such claim number and no relationship between XXXX XXXX and Wilber, etc., I spoke with XXXX XXXX from the Subrogation department. All of these people told me that XXXX XXXX had never hired a company called Wilber or Wilber & Associates to represent them. They did pay out a claim to their client, XXXX XXXX, but were not trying to collect these funds from either myself, or XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, who also received a collection notice. In other words, this collection notice is an attempt to collect on a debt already paid by XXXX XXXX, and XXXX XXXX has no knowledge that Wilber and Associates is using their name in an attempt to collect more money than is due. Thus Wilber & Associates is fraudulently representing that they are employed by XXXX XXXX to collect a debt from me that has already been paid, and the account closed out. No money is owed, as it has already been paid. Notice how it seems legitimate by saying I can make the check payable to XXXX XXXX, but the fine print on the bottom allows Wilber to collect the money, and then destroy evidence that you made the payment to XXXX XXXX. This should be illegal and punishable ; I'm sure some loophole allows it, and hope people are not duped by this.

Complaint: My youngest grandson had a car accident with his XXXX XXXX XXXX pickup and was not insured so XXXX insurance company was trying to collect money they paid out to fix the other vehicle. My problem is because I had cosigned for my oldest grandsons pickup that is a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX insurance some how got the wrong pickup involved i guess because of their last names being the same. I don't know.. and then that got my name involved. I know XXXX was sent both vend numbers so they could get it straightened out. Since then they have turned it over to Wilber & Associates, P.C. out of IL I have spoke to them twice and explained the situation and thought i had it taken care of but since then they have called about 6 or 8 times but have only spoke to them once because they call from a number that you can not call back.I only want my name off of this debt collection since I am not involved in anyway with this vehicle. It all began XXXX I have a file number of XXXX & client claim number XXXX the last time I spoke to them the lady said that they were going to move forward with it whatever that means I am XXXX years old and do not need this harassment in my life..

Complaint: 4 months ago i was in an car accident and afterwards I started receiving calls 1 month later. The calls states that they would have me arrested, suspend my license if i didn't pay. I disputed it but the final straw was they were sending someone to arrest me if i didnt agree to payment arrangements. I only did it because I thought I was going to jail. I do not owe them any money but paid until i found out that i'm not the only person they've zone this to. I do not owe them anything. And i signed and made payments under the impression that they could have me arressted. They also said my license were suspended even made me get SR22 insurance and i have recorded phones of all their THREATS

Complaint: My wife was in a car accident. She was injured and our car was totaled by a driver who was parked and crossed two lanes ( my wife was in the furthest lane from the other car ) to make an illegal u turn in the middle of the block on a four lane road. He drove into the side of our car. As it turns out, the other driver was unlicensed and is being criminally prosecuted. The sheriffs office found the unlicensed driver to be 100 % at fault for the accident. The unlicensed driver had a second rate insurance company with low limits and despite the damage caused, would only be responsible for {$5000.00}. This second rate insurance company, XXXX XXXX XXXX ) also took the untenable and wrong headed position that my wife was 30 % at fault because she should have been able to predict that the unlicensed driver intended to make an illegal u turn ( despite the fact she had passed him already as he proceeded to come out of the parking spot, which is why he hit her in the sideshe did not hit his car ). However, because of the low limits on the policy their wrongful position was irrelevant as the maximum we could get was the {$5000.00}. However, in order to protect ourselves, we entered into a written agreement with XXXX XXXX that as a condition of accepting the {$5000.00}, they would not pursue us for any contribution to their insured or their loss. In blatant violation of this written agreement, and the facts giving rise to the accident, I ( who was not even the driver ) received a letter from Wilber and Associates stating that I needed to reimburse XXXX XXXX for the total of the amount they paid to their insured. When I called to explain their error, they unlawfully told me me they were going to have my drivers license suspended.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2018 I was contacted by someone at the company Wilber & Associates saying that unless I paid on a claim totaling {$2000.00} from XXXX XXXX XXXX, my license would be suspended by midnight that night. I almost gave them money but fortunately, I did not have my debit card with me. I later found out that they can not do that and this claim was from XX/XX/2018 where I was hit while riding my skateboard and XXXX XXXX has failed to provide the appropriate information or properly investigate their client 's claim. I am a college student and was seriously injured as a result of this accident. I am willing to work with everyone but not under these extreme threatening tactics.

Complaint: on XX/XX/ i received a collection letter from wilber and associates claiming i owed {$28000.00} not knowing what this was about i called the agency and they explained that they are attempting to collect money paid out by an insurance agency due to flood damage and stated that i stole copper plumbing and flooded a home that i recently moved out of. i at that point explained that i absolutely had nothing to do with any type of theft or damaging and at that point the female collector became very loud and aggressive i at that point told her to cease and desist my telephone number and hung up. onXX/XX/XXXX i received a phone call from wilber and associates yet again and it was the same collector. i stated we had already discussed this matter and it was false claims and to once again cease and desist my telephone number and hung up. on XX/XX/ i received yet another call from wilber and associates this time it was a male collector i advised him that i had already spoken to his office twice now and that the claim was false he at that point became extremely aggressive and threatening me that i am going to pay this and take responsibility. i advised him that i had previously on a recorded line asked for this agency to cease and desist and that i am telling him this as well he in reply said he will call me every single day.

Complaint: I rented a car in XXXX XXXX from XXXX. I had an accident at that time and was covered by XXXX 's car insurance. XXXX paid the claim and XXXX signed a release for all damage claims and related charges to this accident. The number XXXX and XXXX agreed to was {$9700.00}. In XXXX XXXX i receive a phone call from Wilber & Associates telling me that I owe around {$1500.00} for this accident. I tried to explain to them that this ca n't be because XXXX signed a release form. One agent at Wilber threatened to get my driver 's license suspended. In any event, they tried to finagle a deal with me if I paid at the very moment. I refused and tried to reach XXXX. I ca n't reach XXXX ' claim department to find out what this is all about. I consulted with a lawyer ( friend ) who read the release letter and it is very clear that I am completely released from all future claims. I 've sent Wilber & Associates a letter clearly explaining this and sent them a copy of the release letter. I also sent this to XXXX. I believe Wilber is targeting people like me to try to get us to pay them for invalid claims. I believe they are committing something close to illegal. Thanks
