Debt collection: Medical debt

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: I mailed a certified handwritten letter to the United Collection Services on XX/XX/2019. USPS tracking states that it was received XX/XX/2019. This letter is a debt validation letter requesting that they send the required proof they have to assume this debt against me as per my rights under the FDCPA. They were given 30 days to send me the documents that I needed ; if they did not, they were to DELETE these accounts off my credit. They have violated my rights and I demand that action be taken to resolve this matter. Thank you for your time.

Written notification about debt

Debt collection: Medical debt

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I discovered a collections account with United Collection Service on my XXXX App. This account was recorded for XXXX XXXX XXXX at a time that I was not in XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I sent a certified letter to UCS with three ( 3 ) mailings : ( 1 ) dispute of debt, ( 2 ) request for verification, ( 3 ) mail-only communication. Pursuant to FDCPA and Florida Law, UCS had five ( 5 ) days to respond to this, and they did not. On XX/XX/XXXX, I called United Collection Service at or about XXXX P.M. and spoke with XXXX ( spelling may be incorrect ) regarding this issue. I was never provided a last name. I informed XXXX that United Collection Service did not provide a verification of debt, nor provide any form of written correspondence regarding this matter. XXXX confirmed that no written correspondence of any kind was ever issued in this matter from the beginning of the reporting of the alleged debt. Upon informing XXXX that under the Federal Trade Commission Act rules, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, United Collection Service had five ( 5 ) days to respond to my document requesting verification of debt by writing only and by mail only, she informed me that United Collection Service would not respond to mail requests for verification, which is in direct conflict with the rules outlined by the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I then asked to speak with XXXX supervisor, and was transferred to someone named XXXX. Again, I did not receive a last name. I left a message on XXXX voicemail regarding this issue, but have not heard back. I have included a relevant timeline below. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ), consumers always have the right to request verification of a debt after finding out about the alleged debt in question within 30 days of the first written correspondence with the Collection agency. I notified United Collection Service on my first written correspondence with the company, thus the verification period has not been waived and has, in fact, been fully satisfied. Collection agencies such as United Collection Service are required to respond to these verifications within five ( 5 ) days of receipt of the request. At this time, I have received zero correspondence from United Collection Service regarding any contested matter. When I spoke with XXXX, she informed me that no mailing had gone out regarding this matter, and that it would not, because United Collection Service does not send out verifications as a response to written requests for verification. This is in direct conflict with the FTCA, FCRA, and FDCPA, all federal rules for conducting debt collection. Because United Collection Service did not, and in fact refused, to furnish this consumer with a verification of debt within the statutorily required period, it is necessary that United Collection Service delete any and all debts being reported to any and all credit reporting agencies, as United Collection Service has not complied with, and refuses to comply with, the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and/or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. At this time, United Collection Service has waived their right to contest and report this debt any further. Per my original mailing, United Collection Service may only contact me through written mail to discuss this issue. Additionally, because UCS never sent any kind of mailing regarding this debt, as verified through their agent, XXXX, I was never informed of my ability to dispute, which is required under the law. To date, I have received nothing from UCS in regard to this debt. RELEVANT TIME LINE XX/XX/XXXX : Discovery of Alleged Debt Reported to XXXX and XXXX Credit Reports via XXXX App XX/XX/XXXX : Consumer Mailed Three ( 3 ) Documents Requesting Verification of Debt, Mail-Only Communication, and Dispute of Debt via Certified Mail to United Collection Service XX/XX/XXXX : Mailing Received by United Collection Service XX/XX/XXXX : Expected Date of Mailing of Verification of Debt XX/XX/XXXX : Phone Call Between Myself and United Collection Service Requesting Deletion of Alleged Owed Debt From All Credit Reports XX/XX/XXXX : Second Mailing Sent to UCS Informing Them of Their Failure to Verify

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: Good afternoon, I sent this correspondence to United Collection Service Inc & XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX last year onXX/XX/XXXX. This is for Account # XXXX & XXXX according to United Collection. In a nutshell, XXXX XXXX employed United Collection and United Collection Service is charging {$160.00} more to collect for this service which brings their amount to " XXXX. Originally it was {$950.00} and I have since sent a check of {$350.00} from my insurance company XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX which the amount should be {$590.00} due to XXXX XXXX. I have already sent a CFPB complaint to XXXX XXXX concerning this and am waiting on a response from XXXX. With respect to United Collection, I know why they added {$160.00} to the amount to make a profit for their business which is OK. What's not OK is that no notice from XXXX XXXX between service rendered on date XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX and then about 6 months later this bill being sent to collections. I have already aired my grievances that other vendors/doctors/hospitals have been paid during this time with my insurance or out of my pocket. I have credit reports that detail my 100 % on time payment history for at least a decade. All the information was there for XXXX XXXX but we never received a letter or a phone call. This complaint is specifically for United Collection because the debt they bought is on shaky and not honorable ground due to XXXX 's negligence. I spoke with XXXX at United on XX/XX/XXXX and they stand on the amount of " XXXX '' and the true amount owed. United Collection is not willing to negotiate. The ideal resolution for this is that United Collection and XXXX XXXX have to reconcile this problem and all I'm willing to pay is {$590.00}. Another ideal outcome is this not to be reported to any credit agency and if it is it will be disputed. **ORIGINAL DISPUTE LETTER SENT XX/XX/XXXX** Good evening, My name is XXXX and Im XXXX husband. I will speak on her behalf concerning this matter. Ill get straight to the point : this debt is not valid and never has been in the first place. Insurance has been available for my son XXXX since he was born ( XX/XX/XXXX ). He has been insured by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and with some exception XXXX through his mothers insurance. XXXX XXXX Hospital ( aka XXXX ) has supplied both insurances for several claims. Almost all claims have gone through successfully since my son was admitted to the hospital in XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX of South Carolina has had to take these claims at this point in XX/XX/XXXX because XXXX ran out of coverage for my son. XXXX had a policy of only covering the mother which is fine since XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX is covering my son. Long story short, XXXX has covered all claims except for XXXX XXXX. With regards to the claim made by XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) DID NOT supply XXXX insurance information at the time these supposed claims were made ( XX/XX/XXXXacct # XXXX & XX/XX/XXXX acct # XXXX ). The information given to XXXX XXXX was XXXX which Ive explained earlier is not valid insurance. Therefore, not acceptable payment for this service. Dont ask us why XXXX did not supply XXXX XXXX with valid insurance. We called XXXX and they claim all insurance was handed out. Also, XXXX XXXX has been sending MAILED correspondence to an address we havent lived at since the end of XX/XX/XXXX Our old address was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Florida XXXX and our new address is XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in the same city. A phone call wouldve gotten our attention and I promise you XXXX had that information for any claimants. I claim XXXX XXXX has been negligent in collection for this claim. I did speak with XXXX at XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and I explained to him the problem with getting the wrong insurance company. He made a claim with XXXX as soon as I supplied that info to him. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX sent me a check for {$350.00} and I sent it to XXXX XXXX. I did speak with XXXX at United Collection Service , Inc on XX/XX/XXXX and I let him know his companys collection action is not valid and will not be honored because we had insurance at the time of service. With respect to United Collection Service Inc, I know you are a business attempting to make a profit but the amount of {$1100.00} will not be paid. Instead, the original amount of XXXX will be paid through XXXX and any payments will be sent to XXXX XXXX. As it stands, XXXX XXXX is due XXXX. I have made a claim and am in correspondence with XXXX to get that amount. If United Collection Service , Inc does put this on my wifes credit report, it will be disputed. XXXX : XXXX had insurance all along. XXXX did not supply the right information and XXXX XXXX was negligent in communication. A phone call wouldve fixed all this. By the way, its XXXX.
