Complaint: Sometime in XX/XX/2017 I became aware of a collection item on my credit report. The collection agency is Southwest Credit System representing XXXX XXXX of XXXX CA. I became aware of this collection on my credit report 1 month aftrer it was initiated. I was surprised and appauled that XXXX had turned this account over to collection. In XXXX, 2017 I received a notice reflecting {$80.00} due from a tow on an account I shared with my daughter. I called XXXX and I can't remember the exact details but we reviewed the account and agreed that I didn't owed {$80.00} but discovered that XXXX in fact owed me {$19.00}. I don't remember all of the details. The XXXX agent told me that I would be receiving the refund check in the mail. Needless to say, when I discovered in XXXX, 2017 that the debt had been turned over for collections I was very upset and perplexed. I called Southwest Credit Systems and was told that they could only collect the debt but couldn't help me with my story about not owing and the conversation/refund I spoke with the XXXX agent about. I then tried calling XXXX who told me that they could not access the records nor could they find any conversations on my account. I believe that by this time my daughter had her own account so the account numbers had changed. At this point, I just wanted to pay the balance so it would no longer reflect as an unpaid collection on my credit report. I explained to the Southwest Credit representative that I was paying it so my credit would not be destroyed but that I didn't owe it. Sometime after I paid the {$80.00} to Southwest Credit, I discovered that I didn't even cash the refund check remitted by XXXX because I was holding on to it thinking it would help resolve the matter. I filed the check and the notice ( originally received that initiated the phone call resulting in a refund ) thinking I would receive additional correspondence from XXXX. I never did. I subsequently discovered the negative collection on my credit report. After I found the notice and the check, I called Southwest Credit back hoping they would review the documents and refund my monies and remove the negative collection from my credit report. However, when I called Southwest Credit I was again told there was nothing they could do. Now, I am refinancing and this negative collection is driving down my credit score. It's very unfair that consumers get caught in the loop between collection agencies and vendor errors.

Complaint: I sent a letter to Southwest Credit Systems and disputed the item with XXXX on XX/XX/2018. I advised both parties that I have know knowledge of this debt. I went on to explain that the bill with the original creditor had been paid in full almost 3 years ago with no additional contact with the company to advise otherwise. I requested verification of this debt from both parties and to date I have received nothing. I am right in the middle of purchasing a home and need this removed from my credit file ASAP.

Complaint: Southwest Credit Systems contacted my wife at her place of employment about a {$100.00} debt that was owed. I sent a written request to SWC on XX/XX/XXXX and asked that the debt be validated and as of today ( XX/XX/XXXX ) no response has been received from the company. On XX/XX/XXXX my wife received a phone massage from the secretary at her job with the phone number for SWC but the person left no contact name. The secretary said that they told her to have my wife contact them ASAP about an outstanding debt or they would sue. I never gave this company permission to contact my wife much less contact her at her place of employment. SWC violated my privacy and now my wife 's coworkers are aware of my personal business.

Complaint: Southwest Credit Systems is falsely reporting a collection on my credit report. They have refused to provide proof of a legibly contract with my signature and correct identification. This is a direct violation of my FCRA and FDCPA laws. They are not authorized or bonded to practice collection practices in the state of Illinois. They are illegally trying to collect a debt that does not belong to me. I never asked for a printout copy of a bill. I never asked for billing statements.
