Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Can't temporarily delay making payments
Complaint: I have a loan through Navient and I am unable to pay it because they do not have my correct birth date. I can not log in because I have to validate who I am and it doesn't have my correct information. I've tried to call so many times over the past couple of years and they tell me they can't even talk to me because they can't verify who I am. They just keep pushing my account into forbearance and I keep gaining more debt from interest and ruining my credit. I've been trying to fix this for so long and I'm feeling completely hopeless now.

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: I do not know

Debt is not yours
Complaint: Shame on you CFPB how can you let this continue to happen, always all kinds of problems when companies use an auto dialer. I filed a complaint weeks ago and the company responded saying they found no proof. I am still to this day, even after contacting them in XXXX! We are still receiving receiving automated calls several times a day, caller ID indicates Navient or XXXX XXXX XXXX. If the phone is not answered they leave a message stating this is XXXX XXXX XXXX, if this is XXXX XXXX, the law requires us to notify you this is an attempt to collect a debt and information obtained will be used for that purpose. The caller ID is XXXX, XXXX, XXXX repeating several times a day. Since its the same message if I hang up without listing to it, it will call back repeating the same daily fashion. It is calling my landline phone consistently daily, not allowing to be opt out. Calls come from these numbers which if called, it rings busy. They are even spoofing the phone number to be XXXX XXXX XXXX I believe I am due damages of excessive calling and not allowing me to opt out of these messages, it leaves messages on the machine which indicate it is a debt collector. I have called asked them to stop one time it was a live person and I advised them it was a wrong number and advised them never to call the number again. they resumed calling the next week, and still do as of today. This time it is XXXX XXXX, last time it was. I even put this information in the followup complaint with CFBP that they are calling my phone number ... They are still calling my phone number they are calling is XXXX

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, I filed another complaint with the CFPB- to no avail. They asked me to file a new Income Driven Plan request for my loan because the " Poverty guidelines have changed- BEFORE my actual yearly renewal. It had been a huge mess. I have been given misinformation since XX/XX/XXXX. I wanted to pay down my loan and asked for the graduated repayment plan- consulted an attorney who told me to go back into the IDR. I reapplied for that. At first, when they kicked me back into the IDR on XX/XX/XXXX, my payment was XXXX. On a side note this was the plan they gave me when I spoke on the phone about the graduated repayment plan. Then, they asked me to reapply before my annual date. I resisted because they had just sent me the statement to my prior plan. When I did receive the email regarding my new plan, my payment was increased to XXXX. I called and spoke with XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX, because i can not afford to pay that amount every month. She asked if XXXX, or close to that was possibly, and I said I could probably do a little more, but not much. She also told me to reapply under REPAYE which would be the lowest monthly payment, so I sent that and I received an email saying it was received on XX/XX/XXXX and that it will take up to 15 business days to process. That last time I tried to lower my payment under the IDR, which ended up being the XXXX, they received my app on XX/XX/XXXX and I had a new payment on XX/XX/XXXX. That took 5 business days. Now, I am still waiting on a response from the last app for the REPAYE. It has been 10 days. Mind you, I have been paying my loan, and having some hardships doing so because the payment is what it is. It has not taken this long to receive a plan. I have done this a lot in the last few months. This company is ridiculous.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Second complaint regarding this months payment. They misapplied my payment then wouldnt fix it. Called the company and they stated they couldnt fix the payment until after the due date, but that It would be fixed and that the entire payment had been made and that I didnt owe for the month. Well the payment was fixed but to my surprise I receive an email last night saying my payment was overdue. I login and its overdue for {$5.00}. How is this possible when I overpaid this month? How is this possible when the person on the phone said I was paid in full for the month? Its also saying that I will be charged a late fee. Why is this when your phone rep told me nothing was due?

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: Navient has ignored my best interests and created obstacles to repayment by providing bad information. Came to an agreement on the interest rate, and then was called back a week later, and told that the manager backtracked on the rate, and said they could only offer a higher rate which I could not afford. Neither payment was reasonable, and Navient did not take my expenses for me or my child into consideration. They have failed to act when I have complained. I was told that I could no longer use forbearance, and they refuse to help me. It was not communicated to me until now that I only could use 12 total forbearance 's over the life of the loan. I was steered towards taking multiple forbearance 's instead of Income Driven Repayment Plans. When I was offered IDR plans they were not in line with my earnings. I feel cheated out of my right to lower payments, and feel that they are making me overpay for my loans knowing that I am struggling financially to make their high payments. They have harmed my credit in the past, and I feel as though my loans have accumulated an unreasonable amount of interest. This company has deceived me, and led me to believe that they would work with me when they don't.

Struggling to repay your loan

Can't temporarily delay making payments
Complaint: Last XX/XX/XXXX, Navient sent me 3 letter telling me that they were going to due me due to my inability to make payments. I have been on XXXX since XX/XX/XXXX and made them aware of it. In XX/XX/XXXX, I gave them a payment of XXXX. The man who took my bank information then set up a payment plan for Navient without my consent. When I called to confront the company they lied and said that they did not do that. The young man then baited me into an argument which lead to them calling the police on me. In XX/XX/XXXX of this year, I requested to have my loans discharged due to being on XXXX for over 2 years. They told me three times that they sent the paperwork and never did. Then they began to call me 5 times a day. I blocked their number as per consumer affairs bureau stated that they could only call me once a week. The young lady on the line told me that she would call me 8 times a day. So I blocked her. I originally borrowed XXXX to pay off medical debts due to the state of California denying me XXXX. I would not had been able to continue attending school due to my XXXX and inability to get medical care that I needed. I was asked to participate in the civil law suit but was unable to due to my previous job that I worked 60 hours per week. I contacted thy XXXX and have not heard back from either. Please help me. Thank you.

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: I CALLED NAVIENT IN XXXX TO ASK ABOUT THE PUBLIC STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS PROGRAM. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY STUDENT LOANS QUALIFIED FOR PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS. I HAVE FFEL LOANS. I PAID MY LOAN PAYMENTS RELIGIOUSLY. I HAVE PAID MY LOANS FOR 18 YEARS. I APPLIED FOR PUBLIC STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS IN XXXX. I RECEIVED A LETTER INFORMING THAT I DO NOT HAVE DIRECT LOANS AND SO DO NOT QUALIFY. I CALLED NAVIENT AFTER I RECEIVED THE LETTER AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS " OH WELL ''. AFTER I FILED A COMPLAINT, THEY RESPONDED BY SAYING THEY HAVE A RECORD OF MY CALL IN XXXX BUT NOT THE CALL IN XXXX. SO AGAIN, " OH WELL ''. I DO NOT KNOW IF THAT CALL ON XXXX MAKES A DIFFERENCE OR NOT OTHER THAN TO PROVE TO " SOMEONE '' THAT THIS IS A TRUE ACCOUNT OF EVENTS, HOWEVER, I AM SEEKING ASSISTANCE WITH THIS SITUATION. I UNDERSTAND THAT SEVERAL STATES ARE INVOLVED IN A LAWSUIT WITH NAVIENT FOR EXACTLY THIS SAME TYPE OF SITUATION. UNFORTUNATELY MY STATE IS NOT INCLUDED. Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: My loans through Navient were disbursed on XX/XX/2007 with loan 1 original principal of {$12000.00} and loan 2 original principal of {$10000.00}, both with an interest rate of 6.65 %. As of today my principal on loan 1 is {$22000.00} and loan 2 is {$13000.00}. When I looked at how my payments were being applied, I realized that nearly 100 % of my payments were being applied to interest. Of the {$7300.00} I have paid toward these loans, only {$710.00} has been applied to the principal. The Capitalized Interest has added {$13000.00} to the principal since there is practically no reduction in principal each year. My current balance is {$36000.00}.

Incorrect information on your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Account information incorrect
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted Navient in regard to my student loans they service. My complaint was that the amounts that I am being billed for are not the amounts that were sent to the University I attended. The amounts that I am being billed for are higher than the amounts that I borrowed. Because the amounts are higher, I am paying more interest on these incorrect amounts. I mailed Navient a certified letter to look into this problem and correct the inaccuracies. I received a letter back explaining how Navient calculates interest. They also sent a copy of my promissory note. They did not research or correct my complaint. I then sent three more certified letters XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX asking for them to research and correct the errors. Again, each time they responded with a letter explaining how the interest is calculated. I have attached a ledger from each institution I attended and how much my student loan was for. I have also attached the ledger of what Navient is billing me for. On each disbursement that Navient is billing me for, the amount is more than what was borrowed. I have also attached the certified tracking numbers from the United States Postal Service showing where Navient received my correspondence. Navient also is billing me different fees that I never agreed upon paying. I requested the contract that indicated I would be responsible for these fees and Navient has yet to provide the contract and the notification that these fees would be charged. Another issue that I have with Navient is that they have no record of my loan history from XXXX but I am being billed for these years. Navient has violated both the Fair Credit Reporting Act by reporting inaccurate information to the three credit bureaus ; they have also violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by seeking collection of an unjustified amount and by not providing validation of the debt in the amounts they claim is owed.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: I have been paying my federal student loans since XXXX. I started paying {$300.00} per month. I tried refinancing in XXXX with a private lender thinking that somehow I could save money but quickly went back to Sallie Mae. Year after year I was directed to apply for a forebearance/deferment ( I have no idea which is which ) since I could not make the $ 600+ payment that showed due at that time. Meanwhile, interest continued to mount. Finally in XXXX I was instructed to enroll in the income driven repayment plan. This should have been the original option given to me.
