Complaint: Our XXXX MasterCard which is backed by Barclays was hacked after one {$37.00} purchase to XXXX was approved on XX/XX/18. After this approximately, {$40000.00} in fraudulent charges ( from XXXX and a few other foreign countries ) were approved from XX/XX/18 through XX/XX/18 by Barclays ( a total of 471 charges ) in about a two week period. We did not notice the charges until we received our bill in XX/XX/2018. We began disputing these charges on XX/XX/XXXX with six different customer service agents who gave us six different answers. Supposedly we were issued another credit card, which was not received. Barclays continued to increase our credit limit in order to approve the disputed charges, from {$26000.00} to {$50000.00}. We continuously disputed these charges ( correspondence attached ) and after review by a staff member in the Office of the President, we were told that they did not consider these charges fraudulent since the XXXX charge in Oklahoma was approved, it meant that any XXXX charges were approved. The office said that it was up to Barclays to continually increase our credit limit even if it surpassed the amount we could afford. XXXX was contacted and told us the card should not have been connected to the account that the charges were against because it was not the owners, however the account has been hacked and is no longer able to be controlled by the owner. XXXX said that Barclays had to reject the charges, which they refuse to do. We are retired and can not afford over $ 1,000/month to pay this balance off and which we will not pay since it was due to criminal activity that Barclays refuses to credit back to our account. Our credit history proves that we did not have a history of making such purchases. We did receive letters from Barclays in XX/XX/2018 admitting that the account seemed to be inaccurate, but Barclays refuses to admit it was their error and the charges should be credited back to our account. Barclays is not customer friendly and will not admit that they mistakenly approved these charges above our credit limit. Similar charges to another credit card were investigated by the bank from which that credit card was issued and were credited back to our account, proving that these types of charges were fraudulent.

Confusing or misleading advertising about the credit card
Complaint: Applied for personal XXXX XXXX credit card issued by Barclaycard. The representative stated that I was denied due to too many cards opened with the past 24 months. I asked him if the same policy rules apply for the business card. He stated that the policies were different since the business card is a different product. I then applied for the business card and was denied for the same reason as the personal card ( too many credits cards opened within 24 months ). I called again and spoke to a manager ( XXXX ID XXXX ) who stated the the personal and business cards had the same policy which was in conflict with the first representative. If I would have known that information, I woud not have applied for the business cards as my credit score was effected in a negative manner with two hard pulls.

Complaint: XX/XX/18 Barclays Bank XXXX XXXX XXXX C/O Office of the President XXXX, DE XXXX Att : XXXX XXXX Executive Re : XXXX XXXX DOB : XX/XX/XXXX SS # XXXX XXXX XXXX Dear Mr. XXXX, I am writing in reference to a problem that I have been having with Barclays since XX/XX/2018 and still has not been resolved.
I had a XXXX Credit Card account with was serviced by Barclays. The servicing was sold to XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX which I was unaware of. I made an on-line payment on XX/XX/18 for {$100.00} to Barclays from my XXXX XXXX account which should have been sent to XXXX XXXX XXXX.
I have been trying since XXXX to have Barclays reimburse me for the {$100.00} or at least forward the payment to the correct bank. A XXXX XXXX agent and I have called Barclays Bank many, many times to get this resolved. XXXX XXXX sent proof of payment numerous times. We have spoken to staff and Managers at Barclays Bank named : XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and countless others who have acknowledged receipt of the payment.
I was promised by them that I would have a credit within 2 days ( that was back in XXXX ). I called again on XX/XX/XXXX and then I was told that it takes 90 days to process the refund. The 90 days was up on XX/XX/18. I called on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to XXXX who advised me that we need to send proof of payment AGAIN to the Research Department. As previously mentioned, this was sent by XXXX XXXX numerous times and receipt has already been acknowledged by Barclays.
This is the most frustrating experience I have ever had with any bank. I keep getting the run around from all the staff members. XXXX has attempted to be helpful, but could not explain why we have to sending proof of payment again and again with no results. I just keep receiving empty promises for a refund.
I also sent a letter to Barclays on XX/XX/18 and to date have not even hard the courtesy of a response.
I am pleading with you to please have someone in Management look into this situation and have it resolved once and for all.

Complaint: In XXXX, I had my air conditioner replaced by XXXX XXXX XXXX. I paid them over {$1400.00} outside of my warranty for duct work and other items. I paid for this on my Barclays Aviator MasterCard. Two weeks later, the unit malfunctioned and was not working. It was over 90 degrees in my house. They were unresponsive by phone, their emergency line, email and XXXX. Another company had to come repair he unit and told us the wiring was not grounded properly which caused them to start on fire and short and then they melted together and the unit wouldnt work. We were told that our house could have burned down. The repairman from the 2nd company also told us that the duct work completed was shoddy and we needed to have it fixed. I told this to XXXX XXXX XXXX, the first company, and again they were unresponsive so I filed a dispute on my credit card for what I paid them so I could hire someone to come fix the duct work. I dont know the exact date but they wanted all of my documentation and I sent it to them. They received it on XX/XX/XXXX and have been reviewing it for two months with no progress. Ive been told several times that it was being escalated. Ive been getting the run around for months and I need help. They have a lot of information that I sent to them for documentation. They say XXXX isnt responding to them which is the same issue I had with the company. They wouldnt even respond to my XXXX XXXX XXXX complaint. I told XXXX from the disputes department today that I was filing a complaint with the CFPB.

Complaint: InXX/XX/XXXX Barclays offered to help with payments by decreasing the interest rate & I would pay a set amount. I setup automated payments on their website which was fine. Credit report shows payments being 30 days late when I do not believe they were. In XX/XX/XXXX I continued to make payments in accordance with their terms although in XX/XX/XXXX they reported I made no payment when in fact they debited my checking account. I believe this little posting error led up to me not meeting the conditions set forth & allowed them to get out of this contract to pay up my balance at a lower interest rate but not have any revolving credit. I tried in XX/XX/XXXX to make a catch-up payment but they had already selected my account for collections but I had not yet been contacted by the collection agency. This company has made thousands of dollars from me in interest charges but yet did not offer me any loyalty to eventually pay off my debt. It was easier for them to write me off. In the final days of my account they show me as up to 180 late yet I was still on their reduced payment plan. My credit was hurt from this.

In the front of the check shows paid in full as agreed when they accepted the terms and conditions when they cashed this check. Also the Barclays rep that made the deal told me that this account will show paid in full and the account will be deleted from my credit report. And that is not the case so I'm now compelled to file a complaint with your company to force Barclays Bank to remove this negative information off of my XXXX credit report and XXXX credit reporting agency. According to XXXX credit report, this account was opened on XXXX, legally paid in full for less than the full balance. Status was updated on XX/XX/XXXX with credit limit of XXXX. On XXXX report, it shows credit limit of XXXX, high balance of XXXX, and paid in settlement, account paid in full for less than full balance with XXXX written off. Date opened XX/XX/XXXX ; date of status XX/XX/XXXX. On XXXX report it shows high balance of XXXX with credit limit of XXXX. Shows as charged off. Last payment made was XXXX ; date updated XXXX. Account was sold to another lender.
Now XXXX is asking for payment on this debt that was settled in full according to 2 credit bureaus. They have called my cell number 2 to 3 times daily with a disguised phone number to try and get funds out of me.
I was willing to work out a settlement offer as trying to clean up the credit reports, however, this is inexcusable being this debt has already been paid and none of the numbers add up correctly for what they are claiming.

Problem with rewards from credit card
Complaint: I attempted to redeem cash back from my XXXX XXXX XXXX card on XX/XX/18. I unintentionally clicked to redeem uber credits thinking it was credit to be applied to my XXXX credit card. It turned out I actually redeemed over {$450.00} worth of XXXX ride credits. I immediately called Barclays/Visa to explain I wanted the points to be used to apply to my current credit card balance.
Visa/Barclays explained to me that they could not reverse the redemption and to contact XXXX to see if they would reverse the redemption. Subsequently, I contacted XXXX through their twitter and app helpline ( they do not have a phone line for complaints ). They stated, " Sorry to hear about that. Unfortunately, Gift Cards are not refundable, returnable, transferable or redeemable for cash. Thank you for your understanding '' and did allow me to respond to further explain the situation.
I misinterpreted " XXXX Credits '' as a credit to be applied to my credit card account. I believe the XXXX or XXXX should be held accountable to refund my reward points. I would normally not file a complaint, but {$450.00} is not pocket change to me ; especially when the company has no problem charging individuals a APR of 25.49 %.

Problem during payment process
Complaint: - Barclay 's Credit Card claimed a payment was not made on time.
- after further investigation found out my payment to Barclay 's, had been posted as paid and cashed using a XXXX XXXX account ( copy of cashed money order from my personal bank ).
- I called Barclay 's and mentioned what found, their response was " we don't know how this happened, it's not our fault '' then proceeded to claim my account as delinquent & tagged on a {$50.00} late penalty fee.
- long story short I contacted XXXX XXXX and found out the account in question actually is an account that belongs to Barclay 's, which XXXX XXXX retains on Barclay 's behalf for receiving credit card payments from customers like me.
- I then called Barclay 's and explained what I found, then asked for outstanding amount I owe so I may pay it in full.
- once payment is received and posted by Barclay 's I intend to cancel my Barclay 's credit card.

Problem with personal statement of dispute
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I filed a dispute through XXXX for 2 Barclay card credit cards I had charged off. Reason for filing was that I wanted to pay off my debt but they refused to accept my money, nor would they tell me who owns the loan now. They took my number down and promised a call back, which never happened. On XX/XX/XXXX XXXX reached out to Barclay and they slapped me with 2 years worth of late payments in one day, which were not on my credit report before. I have been attempting to payoff that debt for over two years with no success.

Problem with balance transfer
Complaint: I have transferred balances under a 0 % interest offer ( I have multiple due dates for these transfers ) with Barclay Card. I consistently pay far more than the monthly payment requested. These payments are always applied to the transfer that has the soonest due date under the 0 % interest rate. I had a balance that was due on XX/XX/2018 of {$530.00}. I submitted a payment of {$700.00} on XX/XX/2018 and a payment of {$250.00} on XX/XX/2018. When I reviewed my statement released on XX/XX/2018 it showed they applied those payments to amounts not due until XX/XX/2018 leaving a balance on the amount due for XX/XX/2018 of {$160.00} that will incure an extremely high interest charge. This has not been occuring with other payments in the past year which implies it was purposefully applied this way to create an interest due on this amount. I am contesting the legality of this since the response from Barclay Card is a consistent 'any amount paid above the minimum payment each month must be applied to your highest Annual Percentage Rate ( APR ) first, until each APR balance is paid. It does not specify that it must be applied to the APR balance that is expiring first. Therefore, any amount paid above the minimum payment may be applied to either balance if they are at the same rate. ' Since all balances have the exact same interest rate and the precedent for ALL of the previous payments that were over the minimum payment were applied to the balance due first this statement was not applied until this balance due date. This is not an ethical or fair distribution of the amounts paid to this card for this promotion.
