Complaint: I had XXXX credit cards with Bank of America. I had opened XXXX account in XXXX and I opened the other in XXXX. They closed both of my credit card accounts on XX/XX/XXXX and they sent out 2 letters shortly thereafter. They have written and stated that the reason was irregular authorized user activity. Any authorized users on my accounts were permitted by myself, the authorized user and Bank of America otherwise they would never have been added/approved. They also took my cash back rewards and told me that I forfeited those funds. Those funds were about {$140.00}. They even told me that this is part of their rewards program rules. This simply sounds like they are allowed to basically take the funds at any given time instead of forwarding those funds to the credit card holder. This in itself should be illegal as I could understand if I closed the accounts but I didn't, they did. I did not receive any phone calls or letters that there was any irregular authorized user activity on my accounts or any concerns with my accounts other than 1 call sometime this past summer asking if I had added an authorized user to my credit card. That was the only phone call that I received from Bank of America in XXXX from what I recall. I spoke to Bank of America and still have not been given a legitimate reason why my XXXX accounts were closed other than what I have stated and was told Bank of America can close out anyone 's account at any time for any reason and if we close out your account all funds in your cash back rewards account are thereby forfeited. This again does not seem right or fair in any way because if any bank decides they simply want to close out a person 's account and that person has cash back funds sitting in their account they would all lose their money. They even told me I could request to reopen both accounts knowing in advance that the request would be denied shortly after they run my credit because they already knew that the notes in their data base indicated that they revoked my credit cards. The letters did not mention anything of the sort and I requested for both cards to be reopened and it wasn't till after they re-ran my credit did they tell me the accounts are revoked. Again I do not feel this was warranted, I was never late, no true explanation for this and the closure of both cards had a negative impact on my credit report which why I am filing this complaint.
