Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Auto debt

Debt is not yours
Complaint: This collection agency claims that I owe them {$900.00} dollars, first they sent me a bill for the amount of {$65.00} dollars and told me that I had 30 days to dispute this debt. I don't owe this company any money because I do not know who they are, I sent a dispute letter to this company where I asked them to validate this debt because it looked strange to me, especially coming from a company that I know nothing about. They say that I had a balance with a company called XXXX XXXX co, I asked this company to validate the debt and to provide me any documents that they have with my signature on it or something that shows that I agreed to pay them. All they sent me is a piece of paper that shows a breakdown of how much it is they claim that I owe to them and they also sent me a bill. They never provided me a contract with my signature on it or anything.

Took or threatened to take negative or legal action

Debt collection: Medical debt

Threatened or suggested your credit would be damaged
Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX Dear Sir or Madame, I am requesting guidance on how to hold a collection agency and two billing companies accountable for damaging my credit score by purposefully and maliciously, submitting a debt I did not owe to the credit bureaus as a charge -off. This was done knowingly during my protected dispute period., as I was trying to get documentation to resolve the issue. Here are the facts : 1 ) I received a bill from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, P.O. Box XXXX, XXXX, PA XXXX for {$250.00} for services rendered for an in-network procedure completed in XX/XX/XXXX. 2 ) I called them to request more documentation as I should not have had a balance after my co-pay, as my deductible was met. They said they had no records and to contact XXXX at XXXX XXXX At XXXX. XXXX said he could not help as he had no records as the billing company was sold. 2 ) I then disputed the debt in writing within 14 days of receipt of the bill requesting further documentation. I received none. ( I have written to all parties every 30-days to support my obligation under the law. ) 3 ) I called XXXX XXXX my health insurance carrier and they told XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to put collections on hold, because it was in the process of being paid by the carrier. XXXX XXXX XXXX ignored this and referred the alleged debt to Associated Credit Services , Inc., P.O. Box XXXX, XXXX, MA XXXX. I immediately sent a written dispute which is included. 4 ) Along with that dispute I included a check for {$26.00} as a good faith payment only toward any balance documented in the meantime. This was done to show good faith to prevent the matter from going into collections. 5 ) They cashed my check and did not respond in writing or by phone as requested. 6 ) Today, I called XXXX and spoke with XXXX who reported that I was mistakenly balance-billed and never owed anything other than the co-pay I made at the time of service. 7 ) XXXX can be contacted at XXXX option # 2, referencing interaction number XXXX and she could document that there never was a debt. I explained this to all parties and provided her contact information. It was ignored and not pursued. 8 ) Today XX/XX/XXXX, I called Associated Credit Services , Inc. and reached XXXX XXXX who reported the could not remove the charge-off collection from any of the credit bureaus. I asked why they pursued it during my dispute period within which I had disputed it in writing. He said they never received a letter which is false, as they cashed my check. 9 ) The false entry to the credit bureaus has caused me damage because they were illegally made during the protected dispute period, violating my federal rights. My credit score dropped XXXX points 10 ) This had an effect on interest rates on current debts and constricted my access to credit based on my previously XXXX score. These companies have recklessly and wantonly trampled on my Federal rights and must be held responsible. Respectfully,

Complaint: In XXXX of 2018, we moved from XXXX to XXXX. Earlier today we noticed this company ASSOCIATED CREDIT SERVICES , INC. on my husbands credit report. We called and the representative initially had a hard time locating him until we provided his social. We never received a notice that the bill was past due. We never received any notice from this company. Nothing. The rep from the collection agency said its our fault because we should have notified them that we moved. As if we KNEW of the debt when we with over 1,000 miles away from where they sent it. We logged in today to our online account with the company ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) and the amount we owed was DOUBLE what it normally is. We werent on some negotiated billing or whatever. We paid each month what was due so to even see it doubled is troubling. Its as if XXXX XXXX XXXX punishes you for leaving. Anyway, the communication from the rep at the collection agency went nowhere. Im publishing this to let everyone know to beware of this collection agency and XXXX XXXX XXXX. They dont send notices and then add XXXX to your credit report.

Complaint: Contacted around XXXX XX/XX/XXXX from Associated Credit Services . The person I spoke to was incredibly rude and condescending. He told me that if I did not pay my XXXX XXXX balance in full he would sue me. He also appeared to be looking at my credit report and told me if I did not pay my balance in full today he would get an account number from my report and attempt to run it on that. He said I had a XXXX XXXX card that had {$300.00} in available credit which is not my card. I'm simply an authorized user on it. When I told him that was my father 's card he told me to use that card today or he would call my father and inform him of my bad debts. I immediately hung up the phone. He then called me back on a blocked number and said if I do not pay in full today he would contact my place of employment and inform them of my bad debt. Account is for {$1600.00} from XXXX XXXX XXXX. I offered to pay him in {$25.00} installments since I am in XXXX and he said I need {$350.00} minimum today or we go to court.

Complaint: This complaint is posted as even though there is a collection posted on my personal credit report, at no time was I ever given notice of such a collection from a public utility. I do not accept public utilities having the right directly or through a collection agency to post a negative item on a consumer 's credit report. The Fair Credit Reporting Act was not established in 1970 to take public utilities into consideration, as they are governed not by federal laws, but through public service commissions in each state. Accordingly, this posting on my personal credit is illegal by federal mandate. The original utility known as XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX can send to me an invoice for payment once the collection is deleted from my personal credit report. DELETE THIS COLLECTION AS THE DEBT WAS NEVER VALIDATED!!!

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: I do not know

Debt is not yours
Complaint: Hello ; this is strange! I was applying for some random accounts and noticed that is a collection flagged into my account which I was never notified and mailed me a letter about. I have disputed this item with the credit reporting agency and they reported you confirmed the account as valid. I honestly do not believe to ever have any relationship with this collection agency or original creditor. Also there are several inaccuracies with this account the way it's reporting and that's a total violation of FCRA and FDCPA laws and regulations. In a good faith effort to resolve the matter amicably, I must demand proof of this debt, specifically the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature, as well as proof of your authority in this matter. Absent such proof, you must correct any erroneous reports of this past debt as mine. I am writing to request that you please provide the following information : 1. Please evidence your authorization under 15 USC 1692 ( e ) and 15 USC 1692 ( f ) in this alleged matter. 2. What is your authorization of law for your collection of information? 3. What is your authorization of law for your collection of this alleged debt? 4. Please evidence your authorization to do business or operate in this state. 5. Please evidence proof of the alleged debt, including the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature. 6. Please provide a complete account history, including any charges added for collection activity.

Debt collection: I do not know

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: I received a call today from Associated Credit Services, Inc which I initially missed but subsequently returned on XX/XX/2018 at XXXX and interacted with a representative for 1min and 43sec during which the representative stated that the call was being recorded. I also record calls which I determine are potentially fraudulent because I am still dealing with the aftermath of my identity theft. I informed the representative that my identity had been compromised and therefore I was also recording the conversation for my own records. I also asked that Associated Credit Services , Inc. validate the alleged debt. I was interrupted by the representative who stated she did not consent to me recording the call. To which I responded if that was the case then I also did not consent to the call and that Associated Credit Services , Inc. cease and desist from calling me. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX states " An individual who is a party to either an in-person conversation or electronic communication, or who has the consent of one of the parties to the communication, can lawfully record it, unless the person is doing so for the purpose of committing a criminal or tortious act. '' As indicated in the attached recording I was only recording the conversation to protect my interests and not for the purposes of committing a criminal or totious act nor was I attempting to record the call in secret. My credit has already been severely damaged as a result of identity theft and as a result at the advice of my attorney I have recorded ALL interactions that involve debt collections in the event I need evidence for court that the collection agency is violating my rights under the FDCPA. Furthermore I am of the opinion that Associated Credit Services , Inc. asking for and recording my personal information over the phone is a privacy violation. I do not at feel comfortable sharing PII over the phone or it being recorded because I have no way have knowing who has access my PII, what security measures are put in place to prevent my PII from further compromise, what auditing procedures are in place to ensure only the personnel that needs access in order to perform their jobs has that access, and what processes/procedures are in place to permanently dispose of my PII while ensuring confidentiality.
