Complaint: AFNI, INC. Account number XXXX Recent balance {$1500.00} as of XX/XX/XXXX Date opened XX/XX/XXXX Status Collection account. {$1500.00} past due as of XXXX XXXX. AFNI is reporting a collection from XXXX that is NOT NOT NOT mine. I attempted to contact afni to dispute this account. At first they stated they could not find any accounts in the system under this account number. I then called XXXX, who also could not find any past due accounts under my social, address or this account number they also stated they DO NOT SELL TO AFNI, there are 2 other collections companies they work with but none of them is AFNI. So afni is fraudulently attempting to collect this debt on behalf of XXXX who has no recollection of this account or even working with them ... I called AFNI again, this time they insisted on collecting my personal information phone # s with purpose of verifying the account and NOW I'm getting non stop collections calls from them threatening to take me to court and garnish my wages ... I almost lost my job because of this fraudulent collector. please help ... I have written several letters sent certified mail to AFNI and got NO response. I went to law foundation for help and DA 's office who advised me to file my complaint with you and also to file my complaint with FTC with hopes of bringing this fraud collectors to justice. If this is not removed from my credit report I will file this with the case law attorney who is working on case against AFNI already.

Complaint: 1 ) In approximately the fall of XX/XX/XXXX I moved from an apartment with internet serviced by XXXX to an apartment with a different ISP. XXXX did not turn off service at the old apartment in a timely way and billed me an additional {$53.00} for services I did not receive, in spite of their obligation to release me from the contract without a termination fee. 2 ) I submitted a dispute to XXXX through XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. I have not received any response to this in nearly two years. 3 ) The collections debt has passed among collection companies who attempt to collect the debt, and then after I instruct them not to call me, they resell to another collection agency. These companies then report the supposed debt as a new collection account to the bureaus, which keeps the account fresh and more impactful in the determination of one 's credit score. This practice is clearly abusive and not in the spirit of the law. I believe the case above demonstrates a failure at all levels of the credit system we have in place, but primarily I wish to have the debt now held by AFNI , Inc. to be discharged and removed from my credit reports.

Complaint: AFNI is reporting a collection/charge-off account to all 3 of my credit bureaus that is not mines. I have no contract or business dealings with AFNI. I have never received any correspondence from AFNI stating that they owned this debt nor their intent to pursue collection & report erroneously to my credit bureaus. I see they have had action & lawsuits taken against them for using deceptive tactics to collect bad debts. I have requested documentation to include a signed agreement & proof that AFNI owns the debt ( along with copies of anyone else who has owned this erroneous debt ). Upon contacting the said original creditor, they acknowledge they do not have any knowledge of this account. AFNI is in willful non-compliance with the FCRA. With identity theft, data and security breaches on the rise I am sure AFNI understands the importance of properly investigating my concern. I will continue to document my efforts to get this issue resolved. If this is not resolved I intend to pursue litigation & seek monetary damages. I am confident I will prevail and will not be interested in settling after legal expenses are paid. I believe it will be in AFNI 's and my best interest to resolve this issue prior to litigation to avoid unnecessary out of pocket expenses.
