Complaint: I WAS NOTIFIED BY A COUPLE OF CREDIT AGENCIES THAT TWO INQUIRIES WERE POSTED TO MY CREDIT REPORT. I CONTACTED THE FINANCE COMPANIES, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX/XXXX XXXX AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE OPEN ACCOUNTS. I'VE NEVER HEARD OF THESE COMPANIES OR APPLIED FOR CREDIT. ON XX/XX/2019 I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A XXXX XXXX FROM XXXX, PHONE NUMBER XXXX, EXTENSION XXXX. SHE INFORMED ME THAT A CLAIM WOULD BE FILED AGAINST ME REGARDING A LOAN THAT I RECEIVED FROM XXXX XXXX FOR {$2400.00}. I TOLD HER I'VE NEVER HEARD OF XXXX OR RECEIVED ANY MONIES FROM SUCH COMPANY. I TOLD XXXX I WAS A VICTIM OF IDENTITY FRAUD. SOME ONE USED MY NAME AND INFORMATION TO OBTAIN A LOAN. SHE STATED THAT SOMEONE KNOWS ME VERY WELL. I INFORMED HER THAT I HAD FILED A COMPLAINT WITH MY LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT REGARDING FRAUDULENT LOANS OBTAINED FROM PREVIOUS COMPANIES. I HAD SENT A COPY OF THE POLICE REPORT TO XXXX. PER XXXX XXXX THE SUSPECT WAS ABLE TO CASH THE CHECK AT TCF BANK WITH THE ACCOUNT NUMBER OF XXXX. I SPOKE WITH SEVERAL CLERKS AT TCF BANK REGARDING THIS ACCOUNT, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX AND XXXX AT XXXX. I TOLD THEM I WAS A VICTIM OF IDENTITY FRAUD AND TCF BANK ALLOWED THIS CHECK TO BE CASHED AT THE BANK. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD RECEIVED FORMS IN THE MAIL TO FILE WITH TCF BANK. AS OF TODAY, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY DOCUMENTS. THE FRAUD TOOK PLACE WHILE RESIDING IN XXXX, WISCONSIN.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I attempted to report fraudulent charges on my checking account. I went into one of TCF 's branches to report 4 fraudulent charges that had been made by the same company. I declined receiving a new debit card as I intended to close the account after reporting the fraudulent charges. I was informed by the manager that if I chose to close the account, it would void any fraud report and I would not be able to recuperate lost money. Upon hearing this, I asked to speak with the branch manager. She repeated this same information. I asked for a corporate contact number. The branch manager refused to give me any contact information for anyone beyond that internal branch. I have since called into TCF 's customer service line. I have repeatedly been told I would receive a callback within 24 hours of the call. I have yet to receive a call back 10 days later. I have repeatedly asked their customer service contact people for a corporate contact number. As of this filing, I have made this request verbally 176 times. I have been denied all 176 times.

Complaint: Dear CFPB - I want to report TCF Bank Illinois as an institution who practices maximize the amount of fees they can charge their customers. In the agreement I signed when I first opened my checking account, I was told I have until XXXX XXXX CST to bring my account to a positive balance each business day to avoid overdraft fees. However, each night when the bank does it's nightly processing it often processes transactions that have not appeared on your account pending or otherwise and then dates them as transactions from the previous business day. Therefore, you do not have a chance to bring your account positive because this processing is done after XXXX XXXX CST. I have spoken with my local branch manager about this practice and they defend the bank by saying that they have " no way of knowing '' what transactions are going to be processed overnight. Since XXXX of 2018, I have been charged {$2400.00} in fees. Both my husband and myself direct deposit our payroll checks into this account. I refer to my mobile banking app multiple times a day to make sure I am up to date on the transactions coming out of my account and funds available. However, TCF bank 's lack of transparency about all pending transactions leads to exorbitant fees. I would appreciate your attention to this matter. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Complaint: There is always money deposited to cover funds that are withdrawn on the day it is paid. There are many branches nearby that are closed and it is inconvenient to make a deposit without a bank nearby so I have to drive far to head to a grocery store that has a TCF Bank ATM deposit machine. Complaint: In XX/XX/2017 I made two loan payments on my vehicle which should have been applied toXX/XX/XXXXr andXX/XX/XXXX. InXX/XX/XXXX I made a payment which would have accounted to XX/XX/XXXX.XX/XX/XXXX we had a thin month so I did not make a payment since that month 's payment was already made. In XX/XX/XXXX, I made my XX/XX/XXXX payment 8 days late for which a late fee was added. On XX/XX/XXXX I made another payment which would have been for XX/XX/XXXX. My next statement with the company still indicated my XX/XX/XXXX payment was due and a late fee was charged on my late fee that was assessed on myXX/XX/XXXX payment. I made myXX/XX/XXXX payment on theXX/XX/XXXX, one day before the due date of theXX/XX/XXXX. As of today, company still shows that I owe for myXX/XX/XXXXpayment. I contacted the company on XX/XX/XXXX to discuss this. After reviewing my payments with the CSR, he agreed that there appeared to be an error on the part of the company and attempted to transfer me to the department best suited to handle this. The transfer could not be made so he sent a message and advised me to call back on Friday XX/XX/XXXX. I called on XX/XX/XXXX, the CSR saw the note on my account and attempted to transfer me without success. She assured me she would email the department and I would be contacted within 24 hours. As of XX/XX/XXXX I have not received a response and my account has now been assessed another late fee on the late fee.

Complaint: This company continues to apply payments incorrectly after asking them to apply to principle. They make it very complicated on all matters. I have set up payment arrangements and they refuse to adjust if needed. They offer for you to speak to one person " the account manager " who is never there. If you inform them it's not a fair practice, they leave you on hold continuously as punishment. Recently on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX they refused to allow me to change my payment amount. This company reports you to the better business bureau incorrectly. If you review other customers online we all complain about the same issues. Their practices are not regulated therefore they could care less about the customer. A consumer lawsuit is on the horizon due to all of their unethical practices as a company.

Complaint: I am currently 29 days overdue on my auto loan. The lender, XXXX XXXX, has my proper address and phone number. They call daily about the debt but I have been unable to catch up. They send letters to my address. I have responded to phone calls. I have not changed address or phone numbers since I first took on the debt. Today, XX/XX/2019, they contact my brother and left a message that I had to contact XXXX XXXX. They are not supposed to contact relatives when they have good contact information for me which I am reachable at. This same problem happened approximately 1 year ago and I contacted XXXX XXXX and asked them to remove my family members from their records. I explained that my contact information has not changed and I am reachable and receiving their calls. They agreed. Today they contacted my family again in an attempt to harass me. My contact information has been the same since I took the loan.
