Complaint: I received a copy of my credit report and noticed the company gateway one lending is not updating the balance on my credit report the company is not reporting my payments the balance on the account is still showing high and I have been making my payment please look into this company I think they are not reporting that my balance is decreasing so that other car lender won't finance me I dont think its right I have been making my payments and they are not reporting them to the credit bureaus

Complaint: My husband left me and our XXXX children, all under the age of XXXX, in XXXX. Im a single mother supporting them on my own with zero help from him. In XXXX, I requested a deferment for two payments XXXX XXXX and XX/XX/2019 XXXX to help me catch up and be able to make the XXXX payment on time. I was told by a representative that once I make the XXXX payment, which was behind, that they would send me the deferment paperwork and the two payments would be deferred with no fees to be paid up front since this was a hardship. I paid and never received the paperwork. I called in XXXX and they told me it had to be in before the end of XXXX. I explained I had never received it. I was then told that I had to qualify again. They told me once more that I was approved and no fees would be added. I received the paperwork, signed and emailed back the same day. Last week, I noticed that the due date online still showed as XXXX. I called and was told the extension couldnt be processed because I had to pay {$180.00} in fees up front. I told them that I was told I didnt have to pay that and that it would be waived by management due to the circumstances. The representative I spoke with said she did see those notes on my account and that she would let the deferment department know to go ahead and process the extension. I then get an email today from a XXXX XXXX with the lender and the email is stating again that the extension cant be processed without a {$50.00} fee. Clearly, I can not pay this as the whole point of the extension was because I was behind and needed to get caught up. I was told by multiple representatives, including a manager, XXXX XXXX, that it was approved for two months with no fees. I keep getting the runaround with this company.

Complaint: A TCF employee in XXXX XXXX, MI threatened to refuse to process a charge dispute when I requested to close my account. When I asked for her boss, I was directed to the branch manager. The branch manager continued the threat ; if I closed my account, I would lose my ability to dispute charges and subsequently the money that belonged to me. Despite two complaints about this to the CFPB, no one from TCF has contacted me about being threatened by two of their employees. I attempted to resolve this through their customer service phone number. I have yet to receive any direct, returned communication from TCF. Twice TCF has responded to CFPB complaints with a {$17.00} refund claim. I have not been refunded anything, nor is that the dollar amount of the dispute. TCF refuses to contact me regarding this issue and continues to issue nonsensical responses to my CFPB complaints.

Complaint: I attempted to close my account with TCF. At the time, I had also disputed a series of charges to my checking account. The TCF teller informed me at the time that if they closed the account, they would refuse to process the charge dispute. If I wanted to close the account, I would have to forfeit any monies that were being disputed. This was escalated to the branch manager, who made the same claim. When I asked for a contact above her, she refused.

Complaint: In XXXX, I refinanced with TCF XXXX and my home in XXXX was valued at {$400000.00}. I was laid of from my job in XXXX of XXXX at the age of XXXX and could not find another job until one was offered in XXXX at a 60 % reduction in previous pay. I had asked TCF for assistance and they said I was not late on payments. I used my severance and XXXX money to continue to pay the mortgage until I took the job in XXXX. Since I was trying to pay for two residences, TCF told me I could use the XXXX XXXX XXXX which put all the interest payments into the principal thus increasing the balance a total over {$24000.00}. My husband of 40 years and I had to live separately for a year until the house sold so he could take care of it while it was on the market. We were forced to do a short sale and the home sold three times all of which fell through for various reasons out of our control. The fouth buyer offered {$250000.00} which was {$5000.00} more than the previous contracts but TCF would not reduce the deficiency. TCF would not approve the short sale unless I signed a note for a {$48000.00} deficiency. I was treated terribly by TCF when I told them I could not afford a household move and another payment. I did not receive statements for this account. I paid every month by phone. They claim I was up to 120 days late which I disputed. Their collector asked if I could make a payment every month which I did until I got laid off in XXXX of XXXX at age XXXX. At that point since I had paid over {$10000.00} they wrote off the loan. We have downsized our housing expenses twice and are about to do so again as we are now going to live on social security. I did not want to file for bankruptcy during this ordeal or walk away from that house because I worked in the mortgage industry and wanted to do the right thing. I had to live with the consequences of the short sale on my credit for seven years and now I am dealing with the consequenses of the deficiency loan that was only resolved in XXXX. In general, I was talked to and treated terribly by TCF during a time that I was doing my best to make payments and sell the house. The deficiency loan was UNSECURED as you can see on attached document. TCF continues to report it as a Real Estate loan and lenders consider this a big problem when we apply for a home loan. We are about to do this again and downsize again. I have tried to resolve this through the credit bureaus three times and the TYPE of loan has not been changed. I am wondering how many years we have to suffer the consequences of a loan I told TCF I could not afford to repay in the first place. I believe this is a XXXX XXXX XXXX and needs to be cleaned up and reported like any other UNSECURED loan. We tried as hard as we could to sell that house and get the most money possible to pay the bank but TCF did not care. I realize that CFPB can not do anything about the way I was treated but I would respectfully request that the deficiency loan be reported correctly on my credit reports since it is NOT and never was secured by real estate. Complaint: When I opened this account, I submitted a request in writing to 1. be exempt from arbitration and 2. to not have the card overdraw. This account is used for small community group with limited resources. The account has been open a few years now and it was in good standing. The account even had a latent balance of anywhere from {$200.00} to {$500.00}. I last logged into the account on XX/XX/2019. In XXXX, I again logged into the account and much to my surprise, the account was severely overdrawn. After reviewing the account, I realized the visa debit card was overdrawing the account even though I requested that this not happen. Most of the transactions were less then the {$37.00} overdraft fee and as small as a {$5.00} transaction. As soon as I found out about the overdrawn status, I made two deposits to take care of the overdrawn amounts. However, the account still has a small balance as there was around few hundred dollars in fees. I would like the bank to reverse all fees charged to the account since I requested that there not be any overdraft fees upon opening the account. Also ensure the original request to not overdraft is honored. I would also like to avoid any collection costs or credit reporting. I would like to keep the account open and have another ACH direct deposit on the way this Friday.

Complaint: I had a bank account with TCF Bank, On Wednesday XX/XX/2019 for someone. The check was XXXX dollars, XXXX was confirmed so that got taken out of my account the same day. Prior to that day I was able to use my bank card, once the other XXXX got deposited on my card my account was being shown as negative but I had XXXX on my card before XXXX got deposited. Somehow somebody got into my mobile account and tried to do 2 mobile deposits on my account. Then when I went to the bank to see what was going on they said I had to fill out something for fraud, I never got to fill anything out. The second time I went to the bank the teller told me nothing got requested nor filled out. So she did it for me. Now I can't open a bank account until I get cleared.

Complaint: TCF has charged me over {$2300.00} in fees in the past two months for overdraft charges. The branch manager that I spoke to, said that TCF would have covered the overdrafts without all of those fees if the savings account money would have still been in there. We had an unexpectedly large tax bill this year and in order to pay it we had to basically clear out our savings and checking accounts. The savings account went from a little over {$12000.00} to {$52.00}. The following list show all of the bank fees and the days they were taken from out account for the two months involved. I went in to the bank on Saturday, XX/XX/2019 to try to work this out. We have been TCF customers for about 25 years. I explained to her that I have a XXXX condition and I have a major XXXX scheduled in the next week. I told her I have been on pain medication and sick with XXXX. The branch manager briefly looked at my account on her computer and then told me that " for PR '', they could give me {$100.00} back. She explained that the charges for overdrafts changed when our savings account no longer had money in it. When she told me that she could offer the {$100.00} I laughed and then started crying so hard that I had to leave. I feel completely taken advantage of. When I got home, there was an email from the bank saying that they deposited {$100.00} in my account. I did not agree to take the {$100.00}. I certainly didn't sign anything. I went back to the bank when they opened again on Monday, XX/XX/XXXX. I again asked for help and the branch manager said again that there was nothing she could do. I asked her what is the next step for me to remedy this and she said I could file a verbal complaint. I said I wanted to do that. I asked for the regional manager 's contact information before I left and I was given a sticky note with his contact information. I told the branch manager that I felt like she tried to take advantage of me by saying I had agreed to take the {$100.00} return for compensation for this. When I got home I received a call from the regional manager. The branch manager must have called him after I had left the bank. He basically said the same thing she did. They couldn't do anything about it. He said he would be happy to send me some instructions on how to better monitor my bank account. I know how to manage my bank account, but I have been sick and on medication. This is an incredibly difficult time in my life. I was insulted and still not getting any help. The regional manager also asked me if I would like to put in a formal verbal complaint and I again said that I did. He was not able to tell me what, if anything would happen next. When I asked him for the name of his supervisor he said he would not give it to me. I asked him several times and he refused to tell me the name of his supervisor. I am more than happy to pay a reasonable fee for the overages. I use this service every so often and understand that there are fees but I had NO IDEA that I would be charged {$35.00} per transaction and up to {$180.00} on any one day - which happened multiple times during this period. I view at my statements online and there were no alerts to this issue. I received no emails, no calls, nothing. The fees were buried within the lines of the transaction page which you have to go through multiple pages to see - you can only see about ten transactions on each page at a time. Looking at my transactions, I can't even figure out specifically which transactions were being covered. I want to pay a fair fee for using the banks ' services. This is NOT a fair fee. It is equivalent to three weeks of our family 's income. It was a mistake on my part - yes, but all things considered {$2300.00} is not a fair bank fee. This is taking advantage of me when I am down and making things harder for my family during this already hard time.

Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX. During the year XX/XX/XXXX, an account was opened with TCF bank in Florida reported with my social security number under the name XXXX XXXX from address XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, FL XXXX. The account eventually became overdrawn and was subsequently sent to a collection agency XXXX XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, I, XXXX XXXX, opened an account with TCF bank in XXXX Wisconsin from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, WI XXXX. The negative account balance from the previously opened account was transferred to my new account and subsequently went into collections. In XX/XX/XXXX, a payment was made by my bankruptcy trustee to TCF bank for the account opened in Florida which was previously being reported. That payment closed the account, however because the balance was transferred, it appeared as two separate accounts to the collection agency. In essence, the collection bureau, XXXX is double reporting the TCF accounts, adversely affecting my quality of life. When I called to get the information, the representative refused to listen and insisted that because it has a separate account number, it must be a different account. Nonetheless, I dont have a debt with TCF and currently have an open account with them. TCF has updated their accounting, however, XXXX refuses to comply with the FDCPA and consumer protection laws and have not verified the debts they are reporting. This account is paid in full, and it was not even mine in the first place.
