You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I moved out of an apartment complex having given 60 days notice and all rent and bills paid in full. On XX/XX/19 I received an email from XXXX XXXX with a move out statement attached claiming that we owed them {$1100.00}. I replied to the email stating that I did not agree with the charges for the following reasons : 1. A move out walkthrough was not done by a member of management or the office staff ( they had sent the maintenance guy over who verbally said everything looks fine, he did not have any paperwork to sign and gave no indication that there would be any issues. ) 2. No evidence of any work being needed or having been carried out such as photos, receipts etc. I received no reply. I then received a second email on XX/XX/19 stating that I had to pay the above amount. Both of these emails came from the apartment complex and even though I replied I did not receive any further communication from them. On XX/XX/19 I received a letter dated XX/XX/19 from a company called I.Q Data International claiming to be a debt collection agency and wanted payment of {$1100.00} On XX/XX/19 I sent a dispute letter via certified mail to this company asking them to verify the debt, provide proof that I owed the debt and in the meantime to not contact me. On XX/XX/19 I received a second letter from the company dated XX/XX/19, again, asking for payment of {$1100.00}. On XX/XX/19 I received confirmation that my dispute letter had been delivered to the PO BOX stated on their letter and then on XX/XX/19 that my dispute letter had been delivered to their office. On XX/XX/19 I received a third letter from the company, again, asking for the amount {$1100.00} to be paid ( this now includes interest ). They had received my dispute letter 14 days earlier yet made no attempt to show proof of the debt and instead demanded more money from me.

False statements or representation

Debt collection: I do not know

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: I have resided at my current apartment complex since XX/XX/XXXX. I have always paid my utilities and rent on time. In XXXX, in compliance with Florida law, I provided the apartment complex, XXXX XXXX XXXX ( managed by XXXX XXXX XXXX at the time ), a notice of intent to vacate the unit as I was moving to another unit within the same apartment complex at the end of the month. After vacating the premises, I did not receive any notice of any intent to impose a claim against my {$500.00} security deposit. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received notice that the XXXX had been sold to XXXX XXXX, also known as XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Nevertheless, I persisted in inquiring as to when I would receive my security deposit for my old apartment given that they had not indicated there were any damages within the unit. On XX/XX/XXXX, I emailed XXXX XXXX XXXX as they had not sent notice as required by Fla. Stat. 83.49 ( 3 ) ( a ) of their intention to impose a claim for damages upon my security deposit. Given that I still reside within the apartment complex, they have always had knowledge of my residence and could have easily provided the required notice via email or mail. After ignoring my emails, I took time off work and went to the leasing office. The Assistant Manager agreed that the XXXX XXXX XXXX had failed to comply with Florida law and as a result, I was entitled to the full amount of my security deposit. In addition, I was informed that nothing was wrong with the prior unit and that the only fees I owed were the last water bill. Moreover, the assistant manager informed me that I could expect to receive my full security deposit within a couple of weeks. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received two calls from an unknown number. Since the number failed to leave a voicemail, I did not return the call as I assumed it was a scam caller/robo call. However, at around XXXX XXXX my mother called me in a panic. My terrified mom stated that she had been contacted by a debt collection agency who stated that the matter was in relation to her daughter. My mom asked them to provide more information and they stated they were a debt collection agency who knows everything about me and that she needed to inform me to contact them immediately. At around XXXX XXXX, I contacted the debt collection agency, IQ Data. I was transferred to an agent, XXXX XXXX. She then proceeded to inform me that XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, had sent me to a debt collection agency. I responded that that was impossible in light of my conversation with the assistant manager on XX/XX/XXXX. The debt collector responded that they had received documents from the XXXX indicating that I owed a sum of {$1600.00} -- well over the security deposit amount that I have yet to receive. I asked the debt collector to email me the documents and provided my email address. Despite taking my email address, the debt collection agency has yet to email this documentation. But more importantly, I asked the debt collector to explain the ledger as well as explain how I could possibly owe this sum of money. She stated that XXXX XXXX XXXX sent her my move in agreement as well as my move-out inspection form, thus implying that the fee owed was for damage to the prior unit. Given that the assistant manager informed me that the prior unit was left in great condition, I informed the debt collector that this was simply impossible. The debt collector then informed me that I needed to address this issue with my apartment complex and that they can put my account on a " 24 hour hold '' where I would not be facing interest charges. I explained that I am traveling for work on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX and do not have the time to contact the office within this time frame. They then responded that my mom could call them back to address this issue, despite earlier refusing to provide my mother with any information. The debt collector, XXXX, as well as her manager, ordered that I return their call within 24 hours. The debt collector additionally explained that I have until the end of XXXX to make this payment, otherwise it would negatively impact my credit score. The debt collector made this claim despite the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act requiring the debt collector to send me notice of the amount owed and an explanation of how this amount was reached. Moreover, the debt collector failed to inform me that I would have 30 days from the receipt of the notice to dispute the debt. On XX/XX/XXXX, I took time off work yet again to go to the leasing office and demand an explanation. I was then informed that this situation had happened to another resident the day before. I was also shown my ledger, which shows that I only owe a water bill payment ( which I have yet to receive a bill of ). In addition, the ledger establishes that XXXX XXXX XXXX owes me the sum of {$500.00} and that I do not owe them any fees. The manager of the property additionally informed me that they had contacted the debt collector in regard to the matter the night before, yet the debt collector failed to acknowledge this when I called them again at XXXX XXXX Not only did this debt collection agency harass me and my mother, they also fraudulently represented the documents that they had received from the XXXX. According to the management at XXXX XXXX XXXX, not only is it unknown where this sum of {$1600.00} came from, they also never sent my move-out inspection form to the agency. This debt collection agency, IQ Data, must be held accountable, otherwise this behavior will continue to occur as I am not the first individual to face this distressing situation.

Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX. I and my family were residents at the XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX and our lease ended. We followed the process that we were told and moved out of the apartment on the last day after returning the keys to the main office. The office did not give us any statement showing our balance on our last day but we gave them our forwarding address ( our new address ) along with the apartment keys. We then waited for a statement ( or invoice ) and our re-embursement for the security deposit but we did not receive it. Recently, we got a call from a creditor company asking us to pay {$2500.00}. Our monthly rent used to be around {$1900.00} and we paid a security depost for the amount {$350.00}. We have not received any form of email notification, mail from management XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, nor our deposit check. Our 12 month lease term started on XX/XX/XXXX and ended on XX/XX/XXXX. Frequent or repeated calls
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I received repeated calls from the following number concerning debt collection of a previous apartment payment. Two calls were received during work hours and another received around XXXX XXXX when I returned home. Myself, family members as well as significant other was contacted by the debt collection company. When I answered at XXXX XXXX I was told that the company had acquired my debt and they needed a payment today or else my file would be marked as refusal to pay. I explained the situation to the representative on the phone and the call was escalated to a supervisor. The supervisor placed the file on hold and gave me time to contact my previous leasing office to verify the debt. I was told I had until XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX to give an update or my file would be marked as refusal to pay and my credit negatively affected. This morning XX/XX/2019 I had contacted my previous apartment and they had verified the balance as well as that the balance can be paid through the apartment company. I requested an e-mail correspondence of the charges as well as an other correspondence had with the apartment complex. When I contacted the debt collection service for the requested update I was told that I had taken bad advice, I had continued to take bad advice and that I need to resolve the issue today I then requested a debt verification letter to be sent to my address to verify the debt collected, they current owned that debt, and secure ways of payment and to confirm overall legitimacy. The representative was unable to answer many of my questions and had outdated information regarding my file. I was accused of trying to not pay my debt and told the call would be escalated if I did not comply. He said he was one of the nice guys, he already spent 9 minutes on the phone with me and refused to play this game with me. I could pay the debt now or he would end the call. The call was escalated to a supervisor who questioned why I could not pay my debt. I voiced concern that I could not pay today however wanted to receive written confirmation via a debt verification letter of their overall legitimacy. I was told that I had already received verification from the apartment complex and waiting would only add more to what I owed. They would continue to add 6 % interest on my debt until paid. It was also stated that the reviews I read where just people who owed money and will only be negative reviews. After much back and forth the call was ended and she placed my file in dispute.

Took or threatened to take negative or legal action

Debt collection: Other debt

Threatened or suggested your credit would be damaged
Complaint: Was contacted by XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX ) at XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. When we tried to get more information about the debt and the amount, they would not provide a break down saying that they were only sent the total. No information was provided about being able to dispute. When I asked for more information, I was told repeatedly that if I did not pay during this phone call, my credit would be damaged and that I would be threatened by legal action and that they would potentially go after leans or wages. The agent kept referencing our original lease agreement, but we had renewed our lease so that would not have been the correct document. Further, when I tried to ask questions, XXXX would remind me that I had possibly said something else and that the call was being recorded and that she would use the call against me in further matters. The fast pace of the call and threats were disorienting as it was clear she was trying to bully us into paying the amount despite not receiving the correct information from her. I was eventually granted an hour to do more more research, though I really should have been given even more time than that to look into the matter. When we called back, we could not get XXXX on the phone even though we were given her direct extension. We spoke with XXXX XXXX who 1st did not why we were calling as there was no case number associated with our names and then he gave us a different set of information. For example, that we now owed {$320.00} instead of {$310.00} because of interest. It was unclear if that interest was daily or monthly. He also stated that the matter was sent to them on the XXXX at XXXX XXXX, but as stated, we were not notified until the XXXX. We also never were sent any information via mail. We attempted to get off the phone and asked for more time ( even just 30 minutes ) with IQ but were threatened that in doing so, our credit would be harmed and that we would owe even more money. At this point, we were speaking with XXXX again and she stated that we could have taken care of this by now and she continued to use abusive language and threaten us. We finally hung up and tried to sort through the situation. I then received multiple calls from them ( XXXX, XXXX ). Because of all these harassing phone calls and communication tactics and threats to take negative action, we were pressured into paying the amount that is in dispute with our landlord as it does not appear to be a valid debt. Also, when we asked about the creditor it was suddenly revealed that the matter had not yet been sent to a bureau which goes against everything they had just told us on the phone.

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt is not yours
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX my husband and I began the process of purchasing a home and I gave our apartment complex, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, 60 day notice that we would not be renewing our lease. I did this through their online portal and by mail. We were able to close on our home and move out of our apartment one month before our lease was to be up. I spoke with a company representative and agreed to pay the last months lease but was asked to turn the keys in early as they had a new tenant waiting for the apartment. I turned in our keys and provided my mailing address for my final bill. I heard nothing from the apartment managers until XX/XX/XXXX when they filed an {$5900.00} collection against me and my husband claiming we had broken our lease ( {$2300.00} ) and charging us a notice fee ( {$2300.00} ) plus two months rent when only one was owed. Additionally IQ Data is attempting to charge us interest on this debt we do not owe bringing the total to {$8500.00}. This is not a debt I owe, I feel the leasing company took advantage of my good intentions and non of this would have happened if I hadn't turned my keys in early as they requested.

On XX/XX/XXXX & XX/XX/XXXX IQ Data International contacted both my husband and myself via telephone about a debt we were unaware we even had from XXXX XXXX. IQ Data has accused me 3 times of lying about receiving their mail. I can't make someone believe me that I'm telling the truth. I have not been able to verify the validity of this amount with the company who has sent me to collections and I've emailed them twice and called multiple times and no answer. I have no proof of the validity of debt. I have simply asked them to resend their letters with a full accounting and informed them that until that time I will exercise my right to dispute the debt. This infuriated the customer service person who called me today. He told me that if they send me a letter what's to say that I won't lie about getting it. They previously told me that they are marking this account as " refuse to pay '' and reporting it to the credit bureaus.

Complaint: on my credit report I have noticed that I have two different third party credit agencies reporting the same debt on my credit report. I have learned and understood that this is a violation of the CFPB and FCRA. I have sent several disputes to both agencies and they're both continuing to report the same account. I also noticed that IQ DATA INTERNATIONAL is charging interest on top of the balance they claim I owe. I have went as far as to calling the apartment complex ( original creditor ) to see what debt I owed they were unable to give me any information, they mentioned that they had just purchased the property and gave me contact information on the company that owned it previously. I contacted a company called XXXX to find out information on the debt and they gave nothing. I also went as far as calling XXXX XXXX which is the company that IQ DATA says they collect for and they were also unable to find any information on me, not only do they not own or manage the property they also said that they have not used a third party to collect for them since XX/XX/XXXX. on XX/XX/2019 I spoke with an IQ DATA representative by the name of XXXX and her supervisor name was XX/XX/XXXX. she was very rude and she yelled at me told me that this she didn't care to listen to what I had to say over the phone that she would continue to harass me until I send in letters in which I've done on several occasions. This was first contact by them, so I had no idea as to their validity nor did they disclose the fact that I had rights to dispute the charges, as stated below : " Within five days of its first communication to you, the debt collector is required to send a written debt validation notice to you. This notice will state your right to dispute the validity of the debt within 30 days. Which I explained to XXXX that I was not informed correctly and that I should not be held accountable for the leasing agent 's mistake, she then agreed with me and stated they would honor the Notice to Vacate form and pay {$370.00} for the 12 days of XX/XX/XXXX 's rent ( which I did, and have proof ). I move out XX/XX/XXXX, as per the agreement. XX/XX/XXXX comes around and I am being harassed by IQ Data International a debt collection agency stating that I had broke my contract with XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX and I owed {$1500.00} dollars! I proceeded to let the collection agency know that I did NOT owe that money and that I had given them proper notice to vacate, the collection agent XXXX XXXX was extremely rude and unprofessional literally yelling at me saying I owed and I needed to pay at that moment! On XX/XX/2019 I spoke with property manager XXXX XXXX again and she reviews the charges with me in her office takes a copy of my Notice to Vacate form and stated that I did NOT owe {$1500.00} and that indeed no contract was broken. She advises me she will fix the problem and for me to ignore the collection calls. XX/XX/XXXX comes along and see that the debt is listed as collections debt owed on my credit report! On XX/XX/2019, I speak with XXXX the leasing agent and ask to speak with XXXX the property manager and she tells me she wont be in until Monday. Monday comes along I go in and not see XXXX I then proceed to ask XXXX when she would be in the office? XXXX then proceeds to tell me that XXXX no longer works there and she will see what she can do for me. We are approaching XX/XX/XXXX and the debt is still there on my credit, I disputed the collections and I still haven't received one phone call from XXXX or anyone from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to have this issue resolved. I am running out of options here and I need this debt to be removed from my credit a soon as possible since I am not responsible for the leasing agent 's mistake. I gave my proper notice and they should honor it. This has caused my credit score to drop significantly.
