Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Personal line of credit

Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, CashNetUSA deposited {$2000.00} into my checking account after approving me for a {$2000.00} credit line. I read the information and didnt see the monthly payment amounts. I reviewed my documents & could not find the payment amount. I was desperate and needed to pay a bill. So a week later I called them to inquire about the monthly payment to find out that this credit line was a payday advance. I was told the payment amount would be {$290.00}. I asked if this was monthly & was told biweekly. I asked biweekly for {$2000.00}. Customer Service Representative said yes. I said I can not afford to pay {$600.00} per month for a {$2000.00} credit line. No help offered. The stated fee was {$17.00} per {$100.00}. {$17.00} x 20= {$350.00} for {$2000.00}. With fees the payoff was estimated to be ~ {$2400.00}. XX/XX/2019 - {$290.00} withdrawn from my XXXX XXXX XXXX account. XX/XX/2019 - {$330.00} withdrawn from my XXXX XXXX XXXX account. At this point the increased payment was never disclosed & caused me to overdraft my account. I called Customer Care to discuss & there was no solution. I informed the worker that I could not afford to pay that amount as I am on a budget. She said there was nothing she could do. I asked what would happen if the money wasnt in the bank. She stated collections will handle it. I said I needed to speak with someone that could assist with the payment being decreased. She said she could postpone the payment. I asked if she could postpone the payment until XX/XX/2019. She said I could postpone until XX/XX/2019 but I would still have a payment on XX/XX/2019. I asked could I pay the entire bill off before then and was told yes. XX/XX/2019 - I paid the listed account payoff balance of {$1900.00} before XXXX CT but wasnt able to pay on XX/XX/2019 due to CashNetUSA having a prepopulated date of XX/XX/2019 as the next available payment date. XX/XX/2019 - CashNetUSA withdrew {$2000.00} from my XXXX XXXX XXXX account without my knowledge. The online payoff amount stated {$1900.00}. There was no other amount indicated for me to pay. They withdrew {$110.00} extra from my account without informing me. XX/XX/2019 - CashNetUSA sent an email stating my next payment in the amount of {$64.00} is due XX/XX/2019. At this point Im thinking the company is a scam. XX/XX/2019 - I called to discuss the {$64.00} balance. The Customer Service Representative could not explain the {$64.00}. She then states that {$330.00} more is due on XX/XX/2019 from the postponed payment I made. She said that wasnt included. I asked to speak with a manager. The unprofessional manager basically said I owe the money & they will get it. I asked to speak with her manager & was told she didnt have one. She said I couldnt speak with the CEO either. I am writing to request assistance with eliminating financial institutions from predatory lending practices. I am requesting assistance with ensuring that companies such as CashNetUSA clearly inform customers of the payday loan & not a credit line such as a Bank. I am requesting that assistance be made to ensure that all consumers know the payment amount frequency before the contract is signed. I am requesting for payments to be amortized for the length of the loans. This line of credit appeared to be a loan. I was told that it was like a credit card. My credit card payments only increase when my balances increase. I have a {$25000.00} loan that is less per month than this. This type of business should not be allowed. There should be options for individuals who can not financial afford to pay these institutions especially when latent information should be made clear & upfront. So far I have paid {$2700.00} for a {$2000.00} in 46 days. They are requiring me to pay an extra {$390.00}. This would make the total repayment to be over {$3100.00}. Over {$1200.00} interest paid in less than 8 weeks. This should not be. I can not afford to pay this & know those with less income would definitely sink with this predatory lending.

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Installment loan

Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I was working with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs for XXXX claims. They reviewed my record and submitted a claim to request an earlier effective date for one of my XXXX. Numerous people working at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs told me it was an open and shut speak for itself claim that will go in my favor. They said it would be determined in less than 1 week. At the time, I had been struggling financially because at XXXX weeks XXXX with baby # XXXX I lost the father of my XXXX children. I lost more than half of our income and could not keep up on my salary alone. I became in over my head with debt to many people. Electricity was about to be turned off and everything was past due. Knowing I was about to collect {$40000.00} I took out an installment loan with NetCredit because they said I can cancel within 7 days. My plan was to just collect the funds earlier, pay my debts right away, get my back pay, pay it all back and be done with it. My VA claim was denied. I appealed it and that was immediately denied. I was stuck paying extremely high interest on this loan indefinitely. I took out the loan through NetCredit for the amount of {$3700.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. I was steadily making payments every two weeks on this loan for {$230.00} until the XXXX XXXX. I am a XXXX employee who was out of work and without pay for the duration of the XXXX. During the XXXX, NetCredit deferred my payments without question or hesitation giving me the peace of mind that everything was going to be okay. When the XXXX was over my intent was to pay the balance in full. What NetCredit failed to tell me was that the payments I had made toward the loan did not go to the principle whatsoever and during the XXXX they were collecting 144 % interest every day that I could not pay. By the time the XXXX was over, they had tacked on over {$1000.00} in interest to the loan. Despite almost paying the loan off, they still reported I owed {$3700.00} plus accrued interest at that time. They told me that since I had been in non-pay status for so long ( during the XXXX ) that if I didnt make a payment immediately they would send me to collections. This was in XX/XX/XXXX. It is now XX/XX/XXXX. I have not made any payments to this account because they would not compromise whatsoever from charging insane amount of interest during a time I had absolutely no control over. They have yet to close the account and are continuing to rack up interest and report the balance of the loan increasing every month. They are reporting that I owe {$6600.00} to this day for this loan. I havent made a payment since XX/XX/XXXX and the account is still open and they are still increasing the amount I owe. Had they not taken advantage of the situation I could have paid the loan and been done with it. They were unwilling to budge and now they continue to take advantage for their personal profit. This is beyond unfair. I have no doubt that they are letting the loan sit so they can charge off more than double what I even borrowed AND collect what I already paid and then send me to collections to get another {$7000.00} from me. I am a single mother of XXXX children who are not even old enough to be in school yet. I can not afford what they are putting on me and they are making it so I can not provide for my family by destroying my credit. I need some help to get this resolved. I really appreciate your time.

Complaint: I live in Northern VA, work in XXXX a single mom of XXXX need the extra cash to pay something up in the house I initially got a loan for XXXX dollars and I paid off XXXX and of a XXXX dollars I owed XXXX cent but then they called and said hey we can give you a loan for XXXX, well I said ok my oldest daughter was leaving for college so this would help, but they deposited XXXX in my account, which technically with the remaining balance of my XXXX dollar loan, that would only total XXXX dollars not XXXX, so the amount given is a lie as well and with all my payments I have paid them a total of XXXX dollars. Which in the state of Virginia Net Credit operated without a license in Virginia. Virginia law caps the interest rate on loans at 12 percent per year unless a lender qualifies for an exception, but NetCredit is being sued and loans are being disputed as illegal because their interest rate ranged from 34 percent to 155 percent and that is not legal in VA, so if we went with VA interest rate on a XXXX loan I would owe only XXXX but technically since I only received XXXX my interest rate on this loan based on VA laws I would only need to pay a total of XXXX, for which again I have paid them at total of XXXX and they have reported to the credit bureau that I was late and owe almost XXXX, they should not be report and I sent them information stating that have paid them in full based on VA law and actually they owe me money back and because they are using Utah law they are not willing to work with anyone and keep pushing interest onto the loan and are using illegal practices. They have also been harassing me with phone calls and my place of work who has told them to stop calling but the persist on calling. I will attach my payments from my bank and the lawsuit that is ongoing.

Struggling to pay your loan

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Installment loan

Complaint: I have been struggling for 2 years with this company. I'm a single mother of XXXX boys and can hardly pay my bills. I took a loan out XX/XX/XXXX in amount of {$5400.00} as of XX/XX/XXXX I have paid back {$6800.00}. That is my principal loan amount plus {$1300.00} extra they have made on interest. I have offered them a settlement to settle this account. I offered {$800.00} paid in full, making a total paid back my full principal plus {$2100.00} gain to there company. That is a gain of 40 %. I find that to be a very fair offer. They wont even consider trying to help and take that over XXXX and settle. They would rather someone loose everything. I'm very interested in finding or seeking a lawyer if they do not as well as filing a complaint with the state. I at least have paid my loan in full plus over XXXX they made in interest. They shouldn't be able to do these predatory loans in Missouri, they currently have a suit against them for doing illegal stuff with Virginia! People who are desperate and do not understand, nor did they actually go over the full loan details when I took the loan in XXXX.

Struggling to pay your loan

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Personal line of credit

Complaint: I applied for a short-term loan from Cashnet USA in the beginning of XX/XX/2019. ( I had paid off an installment loan from Cashnet USA in XX/XX/2019, and had no problems with the company. ) Instead of a loan, I was given a line of credit -- I'm not sure why, as I thought that I had been applying for a loan. I received a line of credit on XX/XX/2019, for {$1700.00}. On XX/XX/2019, my first payment was automatically withdrawn from my bank account of {$440.00}. I was very surprised when my next payment was automatically withdrawn on XX/XX/2019, for {$650.00}. I didn't understand why my payment was so much greater in XXXX than XXXX. I have just spoken with a Cashnet USA representative on the phone today, XX/XX/2019. She was respectful and informative. But I realized there were several features of the line of credit that were not obvious to me when I thought I was applying for a short-term loan. First, there is a {$15.00} fee on every {$100.00} drawn out -- so in addition to what I knew would be a high interest rate, I was charged a fee of {$260.00} for the {$1700.00} draw. Now that I understand that part of my contract, I can identify where the fee comes from -- but it is frustrating, because I thought I was applying for a loan. So I didn't realize there would be a distinction between the loan and " drawing down '' the credit -- which has a fee assessed. ( I.e., I had seen the {$15.00} fee noted on the contract, but I did not understand that it would apply to my " draw down ''. ) My XXXX payment was apparently so much greater than my XXXX payment because of the accrual of interest against my balance : and none of my XXXX payment went to my balance, because it went to fees ( {$240.00}, according to the representative ) and interest ( {$200.00} ). According to the representative on the phone, part of my XXXX payment also went to pay off the balance of fees on my account ( I believe she said {$21.00} -- though I can not locate this information on my statement ). It has been difficult for me to make such a large payment this month. ( After speaking to the representative, I have now drawn back down the available balance I had in my line -- understanding this will result in additional fees and the interest will continue to accrue against the total outstanding balance. But I find that the increase in amount I had to pay from XXXX to XXXX left me with very little money available, and I resorted to the line of credit to proceed. ) I'm concerned, first, that I'm not sure why Cashnet USA provided me with a line of credit when I thought I was applying for an installment loan like the one I had previously. I'm concerned, secondly, that -- though my contract did include information about the fee -- it was not apparent that I would be charged that fee at the outset ( i.e., because I thought I was receiving a loan, I didn't realize that what I was doing was applying for a line of credit and then, on top of that, drawing down the full amount of my credit line ). Finally, I'm concerned that the formula Cashnet USA uses to calculate minimum payments is simply too expensive. I ask the representative if it would be possible to renegotiate my payments and she said unfortunately not. She was able to tell me that I can delay my next payment until as late as XX/XX/2019. I appreciated that she was very helpful on the phone. But ultimately, I did not realize my monthly payments would be so high. The example that Cashnet USA has on its website ( https : //www.cashnetusa.comXXXX ) shows a person repaying her {$1000.00} loan with monthly payments of {$270.00}. I assumed my payments would be more, since the amount I received was more -- i.e., around {$400.00} a month. Now that I understand that my product was a line of credit and not an installment loan, I realize that the example of the line of credit on their site actually doesn't give an example of how much the repayment amount is. I'd like other consumers to be aware that Cashnet USA offers multiple products, and that the minimum payment amounts on their line of credit products is significantly higher than the installment loan example makes it seem.

Money was taken from your bank account on the wrong day or for the wrong amount

Payday loan, title loan, or personal loan: Payday loan

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I called the loan company to ask them to move the date of the EFT to align with my paydays. When I initially took out the loan, it was supposed to be set up on those days anyway, and I wanted to make sure they would get paid without worrying about an EFT being refused. I received email verification, and was told in the email the next pay due date would be XX/XX/XXXX, but it could take a few days to process, so I may still see a charge on the next due date, which would have been XX/XX/XXXX. When no charge came out on XX/XX/XXXX, I went by what the email said, that the next payment taken would be XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, the lender took two EFTs from my account. I wrote an email inquiring about the error, and informing them it caused my bank to charge me two overdraft fees. They replied with an apology and a promise to refund the payments and the fees. On XX/XX/XXXX, I did receive one of the amounts back, but not the other, and not the fees. I wrote another email asking why I didn't get the other charge and fees back yet, and was wondering if they were just keeping it in lieu of the payment for the XXXX. I didn't receive a response back immediately, but the following Monday I received an email saying that they were unable to process my payment on XX/XX/XXXX, and it was past due. It was for an amount larger than I had previously been paying. I've tried emailing, calling, and chatting, and I do still have all of the emails, including the one they admitted fault and asked why the bill was larger, and why I never received the other funds. The calls were pointless because the customer service people forwarded me to collections after I explained what happened, and then collections routed me back to customer service after I explained it to them, and didn't even give me a chance to tell them that customer service had sent me to them. I waited for about five minutes and there was not even any hold music, so I think the transfer either didn't go through, or they were just trying to get me to hang up. I tried the online chat feature on their website and got passed around a little too, but the last person I chatted with said she had escalated the problem to a manager and I would hear something back soon. A couple of days ago I finally got the fees back, but not before my bank charged an additional overdraft fee that wouldn't have happened if they hadn't made the error in the first place. They sent an email to me yesterday saying that they are going to forgive the amount they already refunded me, and that I was still overdue for the larger amount they failed to take on the XXXX. I replied that didn't make any sense to me, as they had admitted it was their mistake, not mine, when the two payments came out on the XXXX, and that I was not satisfied with their solution, since I've incurred another fee, and they still haven't explained why the bill went up. I've since closed that bank account and opened a new one with the same bank to avoid them being able to take anything else out. In my communications with them I opted out of the EFT payment method, but didn't have confidence that they would not try anyway. I've been searching for a lawyer, and have reported them to the XXXX and Tennessee Consumer Affairs. I asked them almost a week ago in an email to stop calling my work number, and the next day I received two calls from them at work. I sent another email that evening providing them my work number in case they weren't aware which number was which, and they could feel free to call my cell number and leave a message if I didn't answer. After that email, I've received two phone calls from them at work, and a few missed calls on my cell phone. I leave the ringer on silent while at work, and don't answer personal calls unless I'm on my lunch break. I've informed them I'm seeking legal counsel and that they would soon be hearing from the lawyer. When they do call either of my numbers, they never leave a message.
