Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt was result of identity theft
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX someone must have put an electricity bill in my name. I lived in a 2 family home and I was completely unaware of the bill. XXXX XXXX XXXX says that I owe them {$770.00}. And it went into collections with CONVERGENT OUTSOURCING. When I tried to dispute this case in XX/XX/XXXXthey said that all of the information matched but I was still unaware of the bill until recently a few years ago receiving a bill at my at my current address. I tired to explain this to the collection agency but they didnt care, they said all the information matched. Yes the information matched but I was unaware that someone stole my identity and opened a Electric bill in my name. It isnt fair that I have to suffer because someone stole my information.

Upon numerous attepmts to speak with Convergent ( any info I enter sends me to voicemail saying there's no one available to speak to ), i got ahold of XXXX. Took or threatened to take negative or legal action

Debt collection: Private student loan debt

Threatened or suggested your credit would be damaged
Complaint: The creditor listed as Convergent Outsourcing , Inc. has listed an account as a new collections account, causing a derogatory mark on my credit report. This debt has already reached the statute of limitations in NY and has been removed from my credit report previously. This is an old debt that is being reported as a new debt. This debt collection agency knew that this was on old debt and did not disclose to me any of the following information : Tell me, that the statute of limitations may have expired ; Tell me, that it is a violation of the federal FDCPA ( Fair Debt Collections Practices Act ) to sue to collect a debt for which the statute of limitations has expired Tell me, that you do not have to admit to owing the debt, promise to pay the debt, or give up your rights regarding the statute of limitations Tell me that, if you do admit to owing the debt or promise to pay the debt, then the statute of limitations my restart so that the debt collector can sue you on that debt. Also, it reported that this debt was opened on XX/XX/2019 ... I have not received any letters ( bills ) or contacted in regards to this account being opened. I also did not recived any past due letter for not paying for 60 days, 90 days or 120 days. it was just reported to my credit report on XX/XX/2019. I was contacted over year ago by the company. The representative was extremely rude and kept threatening to place this on my credit report, even though I told him it had already past the limitations and could not be reported. He was nasty and told me watch them report it and hung up.

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt was result of identity theft
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX from Convergent Outsourcing Inc., XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, WA XXXX, XXXX on behalf of XXXX XXXX. The letter claims I owe {$180.00}. In XX/XX/XXXX, I was the victim of identity fraud. I reported the fraud to the consumer reporting agencies and all the companies listed in my credit report with fraudulent accounts, including XXXX. I sent all the supporting information to XXXX, but they never responded. All the other companies determined that I was not responsible for the accounts and notified the consumer reporting agencies to remove the false accounts from my credit profile. I later started to receive calls about the debt from collectors on behalf of XXXX. I informed the collectors ( and XXXX again ) about the credit fraud. I thought the matter was resolved. And now I have received a letter from another collection agency on behalf of XXXX. I want them to update their records and stop trying to collect on this fraudulent account.

Incorrect information on your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Information belongs to someone else
Complaint: After reviewing my credit report recently I dated I noticed that an account named Convergent Outsourcing has repaired on my report. I sent in a complaint on XX/XX/18 in regards to this company and the result was they agreed to remove. My original complaint stills stands I have submitted a request to have an account investigated and removed from my account from Convergent outsourcing. I have never done business with this company or taken out a student loan with this company. When I contacted the company and requested original loan documentation I never heard back from them. I then requested the account to be investigated and removed by the credit bureau and they responded with account verified. This account has never showed on my credit report as a active account by any creditor and now all of a sudden I have a collection account for now {$37000.00} from a company I never heard of. I would like this account removed from my credit immediately before legal action is taken. I pulled all of my financial college records and have verified that is not a loan that I have ever taken out. This is account is Fraud.
